Just some info - So, i finally have some time to hunker down and give Legend an honest try. I've never reached legend before, mostly because of time constraint and the grind after a while just starts to wear on me; but i have made it to rank 5 on various occasions.
So, my question to you all, is how do you guys do it? How do you guys usually reach legend, or the higher ranks in general? How do you stop from going Full TILT Poker? And if you do, how do you calm yourselves down? Is it okay to try to reach it in one sitting? How do you know when to switch up the deck or start teching vs a certain class? Do you ever insta-concede if you run into a deck that you know is a horrible match-up for you? Do you auto-squelch?
Always try to remember that “it’s just a gamel when you tilt, also try to do other stuff when you get tilted, maybe play another game ( that’s not frustrating ) go for a walk or watch some videos, it really helps. And if you go on a losing streak take a break, and remember that the more you lose the more it’s likely to win. Btw this are tips from a LoL player but they apply to HS too, good luck.
If you just want to hit Legend to see the symbol, no sense of satisfaction?
Play Smorc Paladin. Always play full curve and always go face. You'll hit legend by 7 or 8 hours of gameplay, guaranteed.
I don't want to and i don't plan on it, but as i said on top, if i hit a wall of 200 priests in a row, and somebody barges in saying smorc pally is the greatest counter to priest, i'd have to be insane not to take it. But knowing my luck i switch to smorc pally and my next 10 games are against perfect counters to pally.

Do you give it your full attention when you're playing or do you try to do something else so it's not always your main focus?

Sounds to me like you need a little more confidence or that you are already tilted. Either case, I'll refer you to 2nd comment of your thread ; AnimationCancering summed it all up. There's not much to add, if you ask me, except maybe: ''Be the odds (RNG) in your favor'', and even then ...
I always get too frustrated to get past rank 10 so props to rank 5. The 55% winrate grind is just so damn tedious, especially when mid-range hunters are on the ladder.
It’s not worth it. Most people claim legend aren’t, and it’s a video game status. Just have fun. I recently tried Wild, and it’s freaking awesome. Legend in Wild seems more doable IMO, but you would need a more diverse collection of cards. It’s cool to see new decks and play styles. You run into the occasional player with a Standard meta deck, but it’s a small price to pay for a less toxic meta.
But if your heart is set on that status, do not attempt in a day. It’s no infuriating
I went from rank 13-8 in a little under 3 hours. The hardest moves so far was getting to rank 9 and then to rank 8. Like @Aegis24 said, that 55% winrate really starts to take a toll. This is usually the part where i start faltering off and lose interest. I'm probably going to put it down for a bit and continue either later today or pick back up tomorrow

Since Hs doesn’t need super fast reflex due to the tme given in 1 turn it’s ok to “relax”, play some music, but you have to be focused and to think about what you are doing, get a program like decktracker so you can track what are the cards he played and what you can expect next, and play aruond it (es. don’t play a 1, 2 and 3 health minions against a Warlock in case he has Defile or the way you play the minions against a Meteor and stuff ) because the thing is, after a lot of grind you know how to play your deck, that’s totally under your control, then you have to start controlling the other player decisions to win.
a) Try to get to rank 5 within the first 3-4 days of the expansion (this will allow you more time to grind to Legend). b) Limit yourself to playing 1-3 decks maximum during your climb and don't switch between them too much. c) Aggro decks allow for more games but if you're good at combo/control decks play those since slower decks with a higher winrate will get you to legend faster. d) If you go on a losing streak, just stop playing. Don't try and get the stars back, you'll just lose more. e) Don't burn yourself out trying to get there in one day. f) Set a goal each and every time you play (i.e. gain one star, one rank etc.).
Hope this helps! ^^

If you achieve rank 5, you can easily grind to legend from there. The huge walls in my opinion are: 12 to 10, 8 to 6 and 3 to 1. After you climbed those you can easily reach legend. As someone already said it,legend means nothing,or just means Lucky player with great topdecks. Since the decks you are going to face are 2 or 3 the most of times. Wish you the best luck on your road.

I am not sure good players hit legend with a single deck. Not a question of chance but of meta.

Chill down mate :-)
A joke is not an attack, and if I offended you I beg you pardon.
Saturday morning, time to smile and wish for a Legend X-mass for all you "Legend-The Seekers" not F2P as poor me ...
Btw I always have more difficulties with rank 13. Any suggestions?

when you reach the"gates" 15/10/5 or getting close to them you will find the super tryhards. This is not in an offensive speech, but of course they are doing their best to reach the spot. At 13 midrange Hunter is still good if you cant afford the netdecks. secret mage also, the classic zoolock, and all the decks you can find that can give you tempo/rank in terms of incomes. I would avoid super slow and greedy l decks untill you reach 6/7 maybe. But everything is good untill you are having fun :)

hehe thanks for the advice...I play since 20113, tried all decks, reached 4 only once (the day of quest rogue), had semi-pro friends trying to teach me,...the only more frustrating thing for them was trying to teach my drood how to taunt back in WotLK
You're right, the most important is having fun and I am loving every minute :-)
Every season, I try to reach legend with "non meta" archetype that I like, which makes it a slower process, so my first piece of advice would be to be persistent and to avoid getting burnt out.
For instance, right now I'm stuck at rank 3 with evolve shaman with about 50% winrate. I know I could just switch to aggro paladin for the final push, but that way the victory feels empty.
Play what you like to the best of your abilities and play it a lot. And even if you don't reach legend, you'll probably find it more satisfying than reaching legend with decks you don't like.
I don't mean to turn this into a journal, but after taking a couple days off i started the grind again earlier today and managed to get to rank 4. It does seem to be better if i take some time off in between or i get off if i'm starting to get a little more tilted. Especially if i start noticing horrible misplays. But other then that, the past 5 grind is real lol. Not having the win streak bonus really makes you feel like you have to work for everything. I really hope i don't start feeling burnt out or apathetic towards this right now because i'm feeling really good about this run and i'd be a shame to have it reset and all this effort wasted.
Just some info - So, i finally have some time to hunker down and give Legend an honest try. I've never reached legend before, mostly because of time constraint and the grind after a while just starts to wear on me; but i have made it to rank 5 on various occasions.
