So did somebody just design a really stupid Warlock/Warrior bot and gave it to the community?
I've been hanging around rank 20 EU and the past couple of days I've seen at least 10 warlocks and a few warriors playing terrible basic decks, with scripted behavior (like they absolutely need to mull over their cards in the same fashion each turn before playing them) and random letter/character names like:
X86V26Z BH6BN0J BX6LNJX ...
Anyone else seeing this or has more info on what's going on?
Edit: I've added a few of them and they immediately accepted, but they won't talk back and I am unable to spectate their games and when I issue any challenge to them, it says they have no std, wild, or TB decks created. WTH is going on?
Today in my free brawl pack I got Barongeddon, then I had a cup of fresh green tea. As a result of that, I think Priest is OP because my keyboard is not a mechanical one. I hope Blizzard will address this issue.
I've now come to the conslusion these are not bots, but rather some "HS sweatshop" workers (possibly Chinese?) - they do not really play like bots, but rather like total noobs who whave been given basic decks and are all operating not 24/7, but rather what could be Chinese afternoon/evening hours.
With that said, every 4th to 5th player I see on r20 EU is one of these poor souls.
Thing is they are (most likely) not bots, but there are so many of them that "sweatshop" is the only obvious explanation. They also intentionally stay at rank 20.
Well, those names are definitely not what a normal player would take for themselves, since those are codes, not intelligible names at all.
Anyway, isn't there a daily hardtop for gold gains through victories? Like 100g?
But well, in money, 100g is like... say 1€ at an unreal best (that is shop prices basically)? At that point they can gain, say, 1€ per day per account...
Notsure it is that lucrative, if it is human players, for they should waste tons of time.
Also, with the amount of these players around, I can imagine there's quite a bit of win trading going on seeing as they must bump into each other quite often.
I've noticed the bots (yes I am back to thinking these are not real humans, lol) are somehow able to target and highlight cards in my hand - see screenshot where they are targeting my Guldan which is highlighted red. How is this even possible??
Found a way to spectate them - click the Eye, issue a std duel challenge, and before the message "this player has not std deck" pops up, click the eye again - you will see the Spectate button. Crazy stuff.
Surely playing against bots = EZ wins? Is there a reason why playing against bots is somehow a bad thing?
The only thing I can think of is the idea of not playing against a real human opponent - but the way most BMing players play these days, that's actually a small mercy! Heh!
Note: I don't support / agree with the use of bots as I have been involved in the fight against Real-World Trading in my time at Jagex, but at the same time, in a game like Hearthstone, it's less of an issue to other players (rather than to Blizzard) since bots don't prevent players from making progress in the game like they do in MMORPGs etc (where stealing all the resources etc is more of a propblem)
Problem is the bot maker is profiting by selling the accounts, and the buyers get what is basically discounted packs for no effort whatsoever.
Aside from the physical effort of working to earn money and buy the account. But even then, they're not going to get much for it.
And truth be told, neither of these things affect us as players. In the waaaaay grand scheme of things you could argue that it hurts the game overall - but you will never see an impact to your own game from it.
Again, playing slight devil's advocate here - I am against the idea of it, but at the same time, I don't believe it hurts anyone except Blizzard (financially) - and they have more than enough lawyers to fight for them, and the developers to prevent the problem. That said, if the game went under and had to shut down, then yes that hurts all of us - but the scale of the problem doesn't seem anywhere close to that level of alarm. Truth be told, I've yet to see a bot in game myself. I guess they are all down near the bottom I suppose.
As I recall, they have always had problems with botters - way back in the day, they even came to Jagex, asking for advice on how to deal with the goldminers they were struggling with in WoW. #GoodTimes :-P

Well yeah, looking at it this way, the bots even helping new players advance from rank 20 nowadays. With that said, the amount of them is unprecendented. I watched Kripp today try some fun decks at r20 and he met 2 bots in the span of 20 minutes. He even lost to the first one, which was hilarious. :D
My wife and I bought our first "Alexa" a few days ago. I asked her about this; she probably has some info. since she is family. She said she would neither confirm nor deny the bots' existence but it is "highly probable" that these bots exist.
She mentioned she has some cousins w/ names such as 1H8UM4N5 and his twin brother M3T0o.

Noticed these in casual as well. Someone probably mass-botting to later sell the acounts with some gold on them.
Wow. The robocalypse is here.

New observation: these bots are apparently set to "farm" rank 20 - I've just had one of them concede to me before the game even started.

What's your guys's thoughts?

I love bots.
They are faster than me.

Thank you. I'll be here all week!
