and by doing it, i mean how is everybody still interested in this game? the lack of new content just disinterests me to no end. maybe its because i played since closed beta, but this game no only isnt challenging, but its losing its fun appeal because i've seen most decks and game states minus naxx cards than i care to remember.
is nobody on these boards fiending for a real expansion? what is it that keeps you engaged into this game? theres no real tournament system and once you hit legend once, whats the point to try again? i dont know, hearthstone is an alright game(played card games most my life, i think i'd give this game a 6/10 as far as being a ccg is concerned) but there needs to be more to be excited about imo.
It's just a fun time-waster all day. I do it while studying/doing whatever else in the background. I have fun with it. You don't. It's just something to do haha.

There are so many games to play in the world that if Hearthstone gets dull I just play something else. Then if there are new cards I can come back and play more. Easy peasy.
That said, I'm still having fun trying out different combinations and deck styles. And if you want to play competitively there are numerous tournaments and the like. I've got no interest in that personally.
CCG wise its a nicely balanced and smooth game by comparison. Its less involved than some of the best CCGs but It think its more accessible and more streamlined to play on line. I'd give it a solid 8 of 10. My favorite ones are more complicated but I've played so many bad ones its hard not to give Hearthstone credit for making no fatal mistakes.

I agree with most other responses, it's a fun time waster, I enjoy making new decks and throwing them against the current meta. The game has a very low time commitment for a few games so I can play a game in between work and school, or before I go to bed after school. Don't have all the cards but I guarantee you I would still play if I did.

I'll probably quit once the bots invade Casual and Arena (I hear they are creeping into Arena already). Its a fun game, but I have better things to do than play solitaire.
I play pretty infrequently, but usually have a lot of fun when I do play. Sometimes I will draft an arena deck while I wait for my DotA team to get ready, or while we wait for matchmaking.
I can see how players would burn out if they played constantly.
I believe expansions are under development, but I doubt the first released expansion will dramatically diversify the number of popular decks in the meta.
The arena is consistently challenging for me, and it feels much more refreshing than playing with preconstructed decks.
I'm not sure at this point. I do get a few fun control vs control matches that are actually good games. 90% of the games however are just hunter or zoo that just go face. I guess I'm a bit frustrated that every hunter is able to get highmane out after ridiculous early game starts.. coupled with freezing traps and taunts, you are just stuck in a hard spot. There is just no brain in those games.. W/e I guess.. Even shamans at rank 5 are going full undertaker, deathrattle, and bloodlust, hoping for the best.. Undertaker sucks :( Game is hard :P
I get bursts of interest when new stuff comes out and at the ends of seasons, I don't play much otherwise. I don't really play until the later half of each season unless new cards come out.
This has probably been discussed many times but I find it weird that Blizzard havent implemented more achievments and different titles earnd by completeing theese.
For example playing as Rexxar "The dragonslayer" a title that could be earnd by killing x amount of dragons, you get the point. Small stuff like this would at least keep me motivated to keep playing and it would add more depth to playstyle than just laddering and arena.
Is the 100 card expansion confirmed? I see people talking about it, but i've never seen any source for it :/
Yes, one of the developers taked briefly about it in a show... and it won't have exactly 100 cards, he said it would have about 100 cards. More details will probably be revealed at BlizzCon.
I have definitely enjoy Hearthstone. I'm a big MTG fan but it costs far to much money to be an enjoyable hobby and Hearthstone games tend to move a lot faster, which I think is nice. That said, there needs to be more game mechanics. Right now all I tend to see are deathrattle decks. Obviously this is still a new game and I'm sure they'll expand on that as more cards are released, but yes, it is limited in it's current state. I would also like to see Blizzard add a two-headed giant format and maybe a couple other ways of playing. Kind of like the modes you'll find in one of the MTG Planeswalker games.
yeah the game is boring but i play 3-4 games a day when i want to relax or taking break from playing on ps4,plaing more than 5 games i pain and boring as hell,i am stoned how people stay for hours or days to reach legend (its legend status right ?correct me if i am wrong)
I've already reached legend several times and I have pretty much all the cards I need to stay competitive. I'm not really motivated to play anymore though. I log on and casually play a few matches now and then these days, then if I feel like it and my casual playing has gotten me ranked high enough I make a push for legend at the end of the season.
Its just a way to spend time when I have nothing else to do. And its a nice way to kill time when traveling.
My motivation is to one day meet one of these assholes that always say, "I got legend every season it isn't hard you just need a few hours per week." Or my favorite, "There are no such things as overpowered cards. Everything has a counter stop QQ omg L2P nothing should ever be adjusted omg classes are all balanced GTFO." Those people especially who thought hunter was somewhat balanced with UTH and Buzzard at 2 mana each. Yea well apparently Blizzard did not agree, and without statistical analyses and people bringing it up, it wouldn't have been fixed.

I have a full-time job, a girlfriend, a house, and am taking two evening classes towards my degree. Hearthstone is my "relax and unwind" game of the moment, and I try to play a bit every day (doesn't always happen though).
I still need to get Legend (haven't broken 10 yet), finish Heroic Naxx (5 bosses left), and get a 12-win arena run (my best is 9 so far.) I hope to accomplish all three by the end of the year.
And I hear rumors of a big expansion, so I don't see myself running out of things to strive for.

It's great fun, and since I do not crave immediate rewards for everything and finding the meaning of life in a video game, it's enough for me.
Also, there's a 100 card expansion coming, probably with more details being revealed at Blizzcon.

Not everyone has been playing since closed beta or have all the cards, so clearly they haven't hit burn out yet.

since when do you need to be motivated to play a video game? this game is a distraction from motivation.
How many big expansions does Hearthstone have the capacity for?
