Some people just don't like animated cards. A colleague of mine was watching me play my fully golden wild Dragon Priest a while ago, he said all the animations were causing some dodgy effects with his vision. Haha.
Well, I suppose that is a good reason for not all cards being animated.
I actually think everyone should be able to have all the cards at the end of an expansion (even F2P, and at the very least those that pre-purchases). Whatever is required for this to happen is what I want done to the game. I suppose what I'm saying is that those that spend loads of money on the game should get more gravy than just golden cards...
I can understand the reasoning on both sides of this argument. However, I don't understand why everyone is being so negative towards Sherman's suggestion. Making all cards golden wouldn't affect things too much and would be easy to implement. Like Sherman pointed out, Blizzard could increase the amount of rares, epics and legendaries in packs which would benefit everyone. Physical card games are also different because making foiled cards costs more than making regular ones, which doesn't apply to Hearthstone because it's digital. On the other hand, Blizzard's revenue would decrease slightly due to streamers and the like spending less money on packs. They're not a majority of the playerbase, though. Then there's also the wow-factor of someone having golden cards and then there's people who don't like the animations in general. Overall I'm just surprised about the negativity towards this suggestion when it's an actually reasonable one.
Edit: Some people have mentioned that they prefer normal cards to golden ones. I don't see this as a problem, since the animations could just be turned off from the settings like in the arena.

Sorry mate, but stupid and sarcastic comments like this one don't belong to this thread. :)
i dont like the goldens, i disenchant them unless i dont have the regular but i understand the function beyond the shiny factor... it´s like the carrot and the donkey, its what keeps oiling this game when you achieve nearly everything, even kripp couldnt get the full collection and he plays a ton of hours in this shit

Nothing sarcastic about my comment. I don't think it is too much to ask. They just need more ways to earn money than to nickle and dime regular cards that should be available to everyone.

Oh sorry dude, I thought you were trying to mock me with your comment. My apologies.
I hate animated cards and disenchant all golden cards. If all cards were animated, it should have an option to disable it or i wouldn't play the game anymore. I know other players that think like me.

Well, having an option like that seems like a good idea.
Animated cards, or whatever else fills the role of MTG foil cards, are the equivalent of skins and cosmetic items in other games and I think these are the most fair sources of profit for the company owning the game, especially in titles which are supposed to be f2p. I would never suggest Blizzard should make all cards animated, especially because they would have to balance the loss of profits in another way, which could be much less player friendly, so while some players would be happy seeing the eyes of their favorite card glow, it would overall be a huge loss for the playerbase.
I honestly really don't mind golden cards in the game for one simple reason; they don't have any extra effects.
It's not like a golden card will have extra stats or deal more damage and to me that's OK. It's just a card with a animation and to be fair if you really wanted to see the animation of a certain card you could just look it upon this site.

@Sherman1986 From our perspective, sure. But from Blizzard's standpoint, having the gold cards only have animations makes them more money. So it's gonna stay this way.

Yeah, sadly, that is true.

On the third day before Witchwood, Blizzard gave to me,
three Handlock decks,
two Molten Giants
and a winstreak to Legend Rank #3
Disclaimer: This is a fictional poem and this didn't actually happen to me.
Golden cards are the most fair revenue stream for the game.
They give something for people to spend money on that doesn’t affect gameplay and give a little bit extra to players that spend less.
If Blizzard were ever to consider this, they need to be smacked on the back of the head and increase free packs and/or drop rates instead.
Well, that is what I said in one of my previous comments. :P

The Icon of card games - Magic the Gathering - has Foil cards. And everybody is fine with it, same goes here.

Golden weapons in overwatch is kinda a way to show that you have dedicated a lot of time to a character.
Golden cards is hearthstone is just money sink for whales mostly.
I feel like it would be more approprite to compare golden weapons in ow with golden portraits in hs, and hero skins in ow with golden cards in hs.

It smells like Communism in here. "all cards should be equal".
