Blizzard can run multiple games involving millions of players from dozens of countries across multiple platforms with highly advanced server, network and database architectures, but fucking text formatting foils them?
Many players have noticed that Deathstalker Rexxar’s Hero Power does not include any of the new Beasts that were added with the Kobolds & Catacombs expansion.
Since then, some players have provided constructive feedback regarding the state of Deathstalker Rexxar, and we agreed that a change to the Hero Power was warranted.
As such, we will be updating Deathstalker Rexxar’s Hero Power to include new Beasts going forward. Please be patient, as this is a fairly complicated endeavor and we may need to start with a smaller change before a more permanent solution is implemented. We don’t have a date for this change to share with you today, but we will provide more information once we have it.
Please also note that as new Beasts are released, we may need to mark some of them as exempt for various reasons, much like how King of Beasts is currently excluded from the pool of Beasts that Deathstalker Rexxar’s Hero Power can pull from.
Thank you for providing constructive feedback. We see your love and passion for Hearthstone and believe that the best way to make Hearthstone better is to do so together.
Surely they must have known this while designing the card? If localization was a major issue, they should have given it a different effect. Now every other DK and even every class quest will scale will future releases, but this one will fade and become more and more irrelevant.
I hope they'll learn from this while designing effects in the future.
Blimey, I was considering crafting him this afternoon...
Their excuse is such bullshit. Look how many ways of solving that problem casual people from reddit found. How come the game developers hadn't found any?
While their excuse is really dumb, some people are taking it way too seriously. Honestly the card, as interesting and unique as it is, would be a massive wall as far as designing future cards goes. Every beast would have to go through the normal play testing and THEN they'd have to look at EVERY other beast and make sure ALL of the possible combinations weren't utterly game breaking. Quite frankly some of them already are (Beark shark+anything) and the addition of the unicorn would just make it so much worse. That excuse would have been more understandable though probably would have garnered just as much salt from the whiny community. It sucks but the fact is that the complexity of this card would grow exponentially with every expansion and the whole game could potentially suffer for this one card. If you can't consider that as a possibility then you need to learn to be objective.
You know they don't play test things to that extent. Getting some broken as hell combo of beasts off Rexar isn't something you can build a deck around, so they really don't need to (and I'm fairly sure don't) care so long as it doesn't become egregiously common.
There basically needs to be a dust refund to those who have the card, anything else would be sorta bs. I don't think they'll do that though.
The larger the pool of beasts the more unlikely it is you get a 'broken combo', this isn't a balance issue, but I don't beleive their excuse either. I'm calling laziness.
Firstly, the whole design space thing can be laid to rest. The whole point of zombeasts is that they are really, really, really good and nearly compensate for hunter's lack of reliable board clears and sustain. DKs are meant to be crazy strong.
Secondly, the excuse is bullshit, and even if it is real, it can be worked around. The new patch note has changed frostmourne by letting us easy see the minions we have killed with it. They could have easily implemented that on hunter DK as well. Problem solved, EZ.
Thirdly, It is blatantly obvious that they wanted to stealth nerf him. I mean think about it, if the problem was with design space they could have brought it out and the fanbase would have understood because no one likes playing against unfair bullshit (step aside, masochists). If the problem was with coding, they could have also brought it up because the damage is same.
They did neither. Not hard to connect the dots here.

Stealth nerf? I very much doubt this is slight against hunters (however deserving the imaginationless scrubs are). It's far more likely a design/time issue.
Donais explained that the decision had nothing to do with coding, or with "breaking" Rexxar with potentially OP combos - Rexxar already has plenty of combos that would be considered "broken" by the community if the Zombeast in question were an actual card, but those combos are so rare that there isn't really any balancing issue involved.
It's the translation issue - there are languages which can't fit the relevant text onto a number of Zombeasts. The reddit thread posted plenty of (pretty obvious, to be honest) workarounds, and Donais responded by explaining that the localization teams that deal with translation will review the issue.
The most straightforward solution was a suggestion to restrict the pool of available beasts to exclude only those new beasts which are problematic, while keeping the rest.
A more elegant solution was to use pop-ups, so that the Zombeasts themselves only display the names of the two combined beasts - "Zombeast: Vicious Fledgling and Stonetusk Boar" - while hovering over the Zombeast would display pop-up cards for each of the combined beasts.
Advice - the issue isn't going to resolve itself. All the folks who are disappointed should make thoughtful suggestions on the subreddit - "Donais is watching" and responding to community suggestions, and it appears that the decision isn't yet finalized.
This is disappointing and frankly bullshit.

Honestly, it's probably for the best.
They'd end up nerfing him down the line anyway when they want to open up "design space".
Well this is really upsetting :/
I heard about this. Basically it's blizzard being too lazy to update Deathstalker Rexxar to get the new beasts.

More evidence that Team 5 hates Hunter and that they've boxed themselves in with their own inefficient coding technique
That's a load of crap honestly.
The ungoro quests should only be activated by cards in classic, old gods, Kara, msg and ungoro.

Now, I'm so glad I didn't craft Rexxar.

I was really looking forward to building beasts with this shit too... wtf, this card will just be dead in standard then? jesus fucking christ

Mixed thoughts.

All in all, I feel disappointed with blizzard.
When the weak court death, they find it.
It's not that bad considering you can still build most things with the hero power. What I find interesting is how many beasts there are.
There's 5. Only 3 actually have unique effects. Really shows the lack of effort tbh.
On the other hand we'll be able to use rat pack through rexxar dk for another year, right?
No? I call for a refund once rotation hits. It's a clear nerf.
Question everything.

Edit - Yay! It worked.
