Spell hunter was better than I thought, not sure if it will be top meta or anything but shows some real promise. It shit all over my Dragon Priest multiple times, though I could have been building it wrong.
Rin, the First Disciple was better than I thought. I have had the most success with a Rin Control Lock.
Control lock got some really nice tools. Turns out, Voidlord is considerably better than I thought. Lesser Amethyst Spellstone is as good as I thought, that is to say, pretty damn good. the 2/4 taunt and the 2/1 draw a card, are all fantastic.
Fal'dorei Strider is, unfortuantely not a card to build a deck around. It's just too slow. It is however a great tack on to a number of Rogue decks that want to draw a lot. (i.e. miracle).
Kingsbane might actually be solid enough to build a deck around and I didn't think it would be. It's also solid enough to fit the "Kingsbane package" into other deck types.
Psychic Scream was over rated, mostly because it doesn't help you at all against solid aggro or tempo deck like Secret Mage. It's still pretty good.
Hadronox/recruit druid seems pretty decent actually and is a refreshing change of pace from Jade or Big Druid.
Secret Mage is going to be top tier I think. I haven't played it myself but I have been violated by it a number of times. That deck is pretty good.
Big Mage actually was pretty fun and feels like it could be a solid midrange deck.
I fucking love Deck of Wonders, it's not good, but I love that card.
Have had no luck with that horrible deck of wonders. One time it cast the new discolock card. Forced me to discard my entire hand I was playing big control lol.
I haven't played much since the expansion came out but lot of things I'm looking forward to trying (yes, including old strong decks with 1-2 new additions only).
I don't see how people can queue into ranked and complain about the game not being fun... I have a strong feeling your fun factor is directly related to your win %. Yes it would be nice if you could play in the more competitive mode and have fun while ranking up, and often you can. Sometimes though, it requires the patience of stepping away for a few days, or playing decks you don't find QUITE as fun to get to the "safety net ranks".
You want to have fun? How about arenas, or brawls, or dungeons? How about making your zany wacky decks and playing in casual (granted you will see many ladder decks there too, but not near the concentration of ranked). Better yet, find some like minded people add them as friends and play against them. Find a half a dozen friends, or more, and you can draw up a quick bracket and have your own mini tournament. Hell you can even ban cards or classes if you want!
Fun is obviously a very subjective thing.. but there are many options provided to find something for everyone. And if all of the above is not fun to you and you can ONLY have fun in ranked and you can NEVER have fun while losing to the same decks... well as has been said 1,000s of times in these forums... perhaps you should find a new game.
Also certain weapons which were rated lowly, like Skull of the Man'ari, are exceeding expectations. Not many people are running ooze or Jones.
Possibly because the community was largely unimpressed by the weapon.
Skull of the Man'ari was one weapon I actually wanted to get. Warlock is my main, and it would allow us to play with a lot of demons we usually don't play due to harmful battlecries. The catch is that it really does nothing in the turn it's played. But boy, if you don't destroy it, you're in for some nightmare.
In wild this weapon could be crazy. The harmful battlecries you couldn't avoid because you drew the demon can be instead summoned by Voidcaller. Just how fast can you put dangerous, beefy demons on board? I would even run a Faceless Manipulator in decks like this.
edit: Nah, Skull summons from hand, not deck. But a with both it and Possessed Lackey could have insane tempo.
Check my version it got both Skull of the Man'ari and 2xPossessed Lackey, got a decent winrate over 60% in about 50 games, currently on rank 9, but progressing kinda quickly. Tempo swings are really cool, especially with instant impact of free Doomguards and Voidlords, and although ton of AoE and heals make the job.
I'm feeling meh about it. There was only a handful of cards I wanted from the whole set, and by some miracle, ended up pulling exactly them. So as it stands, I got everything I wanted from. Compare with Frozen Throne where there are still bunch of cards I need.

Maybe you should read the thread title? First impressions, these are his/hers, you don't have to like em but don't act like he is saying something stupid. In reality they are the ones looking silly here.
First thoughts: This expansion is a deck builders' dream, new player friendly, and a net-decker's headache. Why I think so:
Deck Builders: I fall into this category. I feel like there a lot of really interesting cards that aren't obvious in how they are strong but ask you to build a deck in a certain way. And I love experimenting. Even the memes feel like they are somewhat playable, if done right.
New players: IMO the legendary cards are mostly good but fair, if not just fun. Meaning, I don't believe many decks will require them as their core build-around; this expansion IMO won't result in decks that require a lot of dust, beyond cards from previous expansions.
Net-deckers: Because there aren't lot of obviously strong cards, you can't simply add two of the KaC's Bonemare to every deck and call it a day. "Just tell me what's strong so I can play it!" Maybe you'll have to figure it out this time.

Life before death. Strength before weakness. Journey before destination.
Loving it so far. I'm sure the meta will settled, but right now I've been very pleased with it. Things we expected to be bad are actually working out better than expected.

Which of the bad things you are referring to actually turned out to be pretty decent? Quickest and most relevant one that comes to your mind?

I also really enjoy deck building and I agree that there are a lot of cool interactions that aren't readily apparent. Even if they don't work out, a lot of these cards have me really thinking about alternative ways they can be used. Recruit cards give you a lot of freedom to tailor the deck without providing clear guidelines (which is different from something like jade, elemental, dragon priest where the decks build themselves for the most part).

You weren't talking to me and I already posted but I just have to repost this point. Spell hunter, again, is no meme. That deck may actually be competitive. Just watched kiblers videos and it was shitting on secret mage. I thought maybe I just built my deck wrong and it was me that was losing to it, but after watching it poop on secret mage, which also seems really strong, the deck seems good.
I think it may be slightly weak to decks that like to flood the board though.
honestly if there wasn't dungeon runs, I would hate this expansion. I don't play this game at all really, like i might complete 3 quest a month tbqh. And it just feels so shitty to buy the prepurchase packs and not be able to make any new decks you want.
Every new set I hit legend just because I find playing with new cards fun, but I wont be doing it this set unfortunately.

Maybe the thread is as stupid as its comment ? I'm sick of these "first impressions", "what cards to craft", "please nerf" threads not even 24h after the release of the expansions. Maybe you have to cease to be childish and wait the needed time to create this kind of thread

Boohoo another to the list of Im gonna go cry on a forum, we donnnt caree. if you dont like it stop playing and stop anoying us every day with this text
In the aftermath it was a weak expansion. No real fun decks have emerged, just the same old being bolstered one way or another. Death of zoo and aggro is welcomed though.
Dungeon run is a waste of time. Should be more tangible rewards associated with it. Total and utter waste.

Dungeon run is AWeSOME! I love it <3
It's nice to be IMPORTANT,
But it's more important to be NICE!
sure!
this is still un-optomized, and i dont run primordial glyph just because i dont have it. But it works great anyway!
Looks like a good list to me, may have to try this out myself when I get home. Thanks (:
