Recruite does not fit into Decks we play right now but the Value you "could" get is insane. Many Player forget that Blizzard is pushing tons of survival / anti aggro tools this expansion sooo maybe just maybe the meta will slow down so recruite has time to play the value game. For example that new 8 mana 3/5 taunt of druide is insane (it looks like shit BUT) you draw 2 lower value cards from your deck (injured Blademaster / Ooze that new 4 mana taunt) = more Bodys you can bonemare and more stuff you can revive with Hydronox and you increase the chance of drawing more expensive stuff.
The mechanic is interesting, but Blizzard uses it in bad way ( Expensive minions with bad stats that recruit smaller minion )
You also have expensive minions with bad stats that recruit bigger minions ( Silver Vanguard ). And you have expensive spells that recruit any minions ( Gather Your Party ). And you have reasonably costed minions that recruit specific minions ( Kathrena Winterwisp ). There is a Little bit diversity with recruit. The only Thing we do not have in this set (yet) is a reasonably statted minion (with regard to teh cost) that additionally recruits something. Because that would likely be too strong.
Sry i have to disagree :D ... they learned from Patches (Patches = Recruit a 1/1 Charge) and he is disgustingly Powerful. I don`t think you could add a early game Recruit mechanic without breaking the Game (many Decks simply lack Options in early Stages of the Game). By now i think the same people who create Shitposts about PowerCreep will create Shitposts about non perfect Stat minion the next expansion lul. Wait for Release play it than raise your Fork to the Sky.
Blizzard clearly was conservative with Recruit mechanic. Were they correct? Hard to say. My guess is that they originally had Recruit costed one mana less, and then in playtesting it lead to some oppressive decks. Unfortunately, it was too late in design phase to completely redo the mechanic, so they had to bump up the mana a point, which also probably made it unplayable.
That being said, I think some Recruit will see play. Specifically, the conditional ones which limit what can be pulled from the deck. [card]Call to Arms[/card] seems real strong, [card]Oaken Summons[/card] seems playable and maybe even Grizzled Guardian.
Unfortunately, I don't think any of the others will see play. We already have decks that cheat out minions early in Big Druid and Big Priest, and I can't see any recruit-based deck be as strong as those. The only way I see recruit working is bringing out a lot smaller-costed minions to flood the board, not big ones that will dominate on their own.
One can use recruits in Druid Quest deck. You don't care which 5-attack minion you pull, since all trigger the quest. And you don't want those 3-4 mana minions lategame anyway. The biggest problem is that it doesn't trigger battlecries and choose one, so that 4-mana cat can't be used with recruit.
Well there are cards with recruit that are not bad...I dont think the mechanic itself the way most of the cards are in the set is good enough to see alot of use.
