Like probably many of us, I bought Kobolds pre-order and been saving coins. Indeed, I'm an optimistic & we have some promising new cards and mechanics upcoming.
Now, for the past 4 days, i've been going back to ladder to climb a bit before the expansion hits. And god, how horrible it was to realize that the two horrible dominant archetypes only seem to be getting stronger.
1. Priest DK combo is one of the worst game ruining deck i've seen, and he's gaining some huge power in the expansion with still nothing close to a counter
2. Aggro-Mid-Late Bonemare pirate decks are all over the place, it's so strong that it is played in all classes, never seen something similar. And I don't see clear counter to them neither (mage clears maybe ?)
Do you see this improving ? I hope someone does...
I am not preordering. Seems like one of the best expansion to go free to play with so many mediocre or meme legendaries. All the good cards are rares and epics.
it's always the worst just before the rotation, when the dominant decks are at their peak. you'll get your worth later when the key cards of Patches, Raza and many other rotate out.
then again, I'd never preorder an expansion.
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
''He traded sands for skins, skins for gold, gold for life. In the end, he traded life for sand.''
Design-wise it's quite good. A lot of solid Tier 2 decks are getting strong buffs (DK Mage decks, for an instance, plus Warlock decks), they are trying to revive Miracle Rogue and Controll Warrior. You can't expect Blizz not to give good cards to all classes, as it could break existing decks. Raza Priest isn't getting that much buff.
I don't regret my preorder, although I'm going to burn gold in the Arena first and start crafting stuff 2 weeks after release.
Stupid question but why have you not waited "1 minute" befor the expansion comes out with your preordering or at least todays last card reveal especially if you tend to regret your decission because you preordered in hope of good cards/ healthy meta?
(I have not preordered yet and I will wait for the last cards + my calculation how much dust I need for my pala decks)
1. Highlander Priest is weak to Big Druid, Jade Druid, Exodia Mage, Secret Mage and Big Priest.
2. Tempo Rogue, the gold-standard version of this right now, is weak to Aggro Druid, and at the moment that is it's main bad matchup.
And by the way, this is based on meta data not opinion :P
Yeah you're right there are counters, I just to tend to love playing fun and fair decks (stupid, I know), and out of the counters you mention, Big Druid is the only one that fits, but it gets destroyed so hard by the bonemare archetype i was mentioning...

Priest has gained two good cards for the reno archetype.. maybe one.. so that is not really a great improvement.. all decks are getting good cards..
Yeah, a toast!
Just wait to see how it plays out

In the sense of Metagame , last expansion was a disaster, only handful of decks/class dominating. I actually have high hopes for this one.
It's not that bad really, there's still hope for every class, except hunter lol.
Are you kidding this expansion has has the most excellent legendaries release so far
Tempo decks have always been the best, 0 counters. Expect a short time of control warrior and handlock.
Keeper of the Grove Gone, but not forgotten.
Highlander Priest loses Raza next expansion. Jades are going bye bye next expansion too. At least in Standard. So yeah, I see it improving.
They are leaving with the expansion after in march/may
Out of curiosity, what deck does OP play?
