3 expansion a year is a mistake for a design team this lacking in fresh ideas. Its just a cash grab, and with the constant nerfing, it's not worth playing unless you go all in and pay.
No, this is easily the most underwhelming looking expansion in the game's entire history. It LOOKS how Grand Tournament WAS lol. Don't preorder and maybe they'll shake things up next time.
When it looks like blizz are leaving multiple of the legendary weapons to be revealed in the final carddump, I find it hard to get excited about them. Some solid stuff, though nowt yet for me.
The two remaining weapons for Hunter and Warrior will probably be revealed in the final reveal stream with Brode and Day9, not in the card dump. Same with the remaining neutral legendaries. They often save some of the best to last - both The Lich King and Bloodreaver Gul'dan was revealed in the final stream last expansion.
I'm generally pretty hyped when it comes to Hearthstone expansions but this one is a bit different in a few ways.
Frozen Throne
First, we're coming off Knights of the Frozen Throne which has amazing flavor; You really can't beat The Lich King. Once Blizzard puts him into the mix, everything else becomes irrelevant because they've exhausted the theme. Anything that was going to follow The Lich King and Death Knights had big shoes to fill.
I'm somewhat joking around for record's sake, though it should be noted Wrath was peak of WoW's popularity and The Lich King was kind of the "end" of WoW Lore when looking at the RTS games - everything after that was created in World of Warcraft and various books. Certainly not a topic to discuss in this thread, but it IS a valid point.
Reveal Period
This could just be because I've been lacking sleep and have been sick, but nothing so far has been absolutely disgustingly amazing. There's certainly some great cards that we're getting, and there's a ton of potential for so many of these varied cards, but for decks that I want to build, there's very few things that have appealed to me.
The card that so far strikes me as being the most fun one that I want to throw into things is Deck of Wonders. Other ones would be screwing around with To My Side! and making Dudeadin really work with a bunch of tools Paladin is getting. That's not even a handful of options (for me, others will certainly disagree) but back in Frozen Throne or Un'Goro even, we had 9 very different deck builds through both the Death Knights and Quests. Legendary Weapons haven't really done that as much, though maybe that's for the best as it does end up keeping the game cheaper ;)
That's not the say I think the expansion is garbage based on what we've seen so far. Like I said, there's a lot of different types of cards and because of this I think we've got some crazy potential for a lot of different decks, and hopefully that will last for quite some time during the expansion's duration.
End of Year Sets
They're.. not as as interesting. When you look at their value on paper, they cost the same amount as other sets but in a Standard point of view you get to play with the cards less. It would be nice if they were able to do something about this, maybe laying off dual legendaries for the set and not just adding an addition 9 to the neutral pool. I know they have their rarity distribution already set, but come on.
General Game Fatigue
Hearthstone is getting to be an older game now, though relatively new still when looking at the genre, and whether you like it or not, not a whole lot has changed. Dungeon Runs are an exciting new feature but it would be nice to see more. A good start would be to making things exciting again by actually doing real stuff between expansions and not just these little events that add a meh tavern brawl to the rotation.
They really need to figure out a way to change the game up. I review our traffic logs regularly and always by the time you're even just a month into a set, people stop caring and you start to see the posts to back that up. Their marketing department spends all this stupid money on the Hearthstone World Championship but honestly, who really cares about it? Invest those resources into the game itself and maybe we'd see more interesting stuff. If you need to meet your ad quota, you can always bring back guac boi.
And for fucks sake, could you add the damn Druid hero to the game? I don't care for Druid at all as a class in Hearthstone, but it's pathetic we still don't have an alternative to antler man and that it took this long to get the Warlock hero when Mage immediately had 3 out the door, though it was a piss poor implementation of Khadgar do maybe mages only have 2.5 heroes.
Cosmetic drops during the middle of sets would be wicked cool, especially if we could.... wait for it.... PLAY THE GAME TO EARN THEM? I get that you don't want to do alternate card art because it would be (paraphrasing) "confusing for players if two cards did the same thing", but some more heroes would be a good start and there's tons of other stuff you could do. Add some lootboxes to the game to -
Let us unlock golden cards more easily through playing. I think it would be interesting if they changed it so there were two types of Dust, one which would specifically be for upgrading regular cards to goldens so you could it to players without worrying about ruining "mah microtransactions". I love golden cards but I'm so sick of needing to spend $200 just to disenchant a bunch of cards to maybe flesh out a deck with them.
More emotes.
Let us unlock special effects for our emotes like you demoed with the Ahune and Ragnaros stuff during the summer. (Where was this stuff for Kobolds anyway?)
More card backs.
Achievements. Come on guys, every game has them, there'd be some cool stuff you could do with it. Show our achievement point score to our opponents.
In Conclusion
Okay kinda went off there at the end and don't really have a conclusion outside of me not being all that hyped but I think Dungeon Runs will be cool. End of rant. If something doesn't logically go together well, tough luck.
A handful of minions have awful stat lines and they don't seem like powerhouses to me and lack board presence. The recruit mechanic just seems bland to me as well. Am i just being an Idiot?
Don't be such a hipster. This is probably the most powerful expac released in HS history.
To be honest, I really liked the theme "Kobolds & Catacombs" and I was hyped for sure...and every single day at the card reveal that I see is a huge let down. I thought noggerfogger was way low on stats but looks like dragon hatcher takes the first place...overall I'm not that hyped as I was at the beginning of the announcement , but I'm really excited about the dungeon runs because they made a big pool of bosses and they are unique, but I suppose time will tell :)
Similar to my relationship with World of Tanks, the game has many problems, but I enjoy when I can overcome them and succeed in a way that's divergent from the meta. There's so many people who couldn't play an original deck to save their souls because they either need the gold or are just dumb or something, idk. I keep hoping that the game will diversify more and that some gametype will come out that will prevent players from constantly net decking, but even if they do I'll still play. I love TCG's and hearthstone is if nothing else a fun distraction when I need one.

Look at this thing and let me know what you think!
It definitely has something to do with the set, but it also has something to do with general fatigue. No game is interesting forever, everyone gets bored after a while and needs time to recharge.
Then I guess that we shouldn't listen to Trump and Amaz's card reviews?
No, why would we?
For fun? For variety? Hearing what other people think of certain cards can help break the flow of everyone in Hearthpwn flooding the comments with "Trash meme" and "Disgustingly OP"
I'm not hyped, this expansion looks fun but also weak. I skipped Meantstreats cause I knew it would be bad, it totally was.
Do you mean the meta was weak or the cards in Mean Streets was weak? Because the cards in Mean Streets are probably the most meta-shaping cards of any set currently, with Jade, Kazakus/Raza, Patches...
I really like the theme of the expansion and I like the ideas of a lot of the cards. My only concern right now is if it can shake Jade druid, Razakus priest and the top tempo decks, but I'm sure something different will emerge. Everybody has been surprised about something that ended up being huge in... well, most expansions really.
Is it only broken cards and mechanics you get hyped for? You should be hyped you don't have to see the same old played out cards and decks in a week. You will actually see something that you have no idea what is going to happen. And you will also have the chance to deckbuild if you're not poor. Get used to the fact that expac is going to have some filler and bad cards. It makes the good cards stand out. Plus the fact that you don't really know what is going to be good. Start complaining about psychic scream, but I can guarantee that someone is going to farm this card with some kind of answer.
And those understatted cards? Wait til you start losing to them. Then you will go back and eat your words.
The problem is that Blizzard thinks that the recruit mechanic is extremely overpowered and well... yeah, it can be but they're just doing it terribly and it makes no sense in regards to other cards they already have, look for example and Y'shaarj, 10 mana 10/10 at the end of your turn recruit a minion (I know they said they won't change its text to this, which makes no sense to me but ok, but he basically recruits a minion at the end of the turn) and then there is the 9 mana 2/4 that recruits a dragon at the end of your turn... WTF, why is a minion that costs 10 mana and can recuit aaany minion from your deck a 10/10 but a 9 mana one that recruit only dragon is so extremely understated? makes no sense at all, I know giving decent stats to a minion that can summon other very specific minions is very dangerous but not that much to make it a 3 mana worth of stats, with Y'shaarj you build your deck so it only recruits very specific minions and it's stats are what you could expect from a vanilla 10 mana minion, there's no reason to run this new card over Mr. old god, and even when Y'shaarj rotates out I doubt people will try to run like a big dragon deck with this thrash card.

You do realize that recruit only dragons is much more powerful right?

You would realize I did if you actually read my post ;) but do you really think it's "much more powerful" enough to give it stats worth a 3 mana minion? if you really want to run a big dragons list you just run Y'shaarj pay one more mana and get 2 powerful minions on the turn you play him, a minion that can't be removed so easily, you'll play that dragon hatcher, it will recruit a big dragon and then get removed in the next turn super easily, just run Y'shaarj and then just mostly dragons, 95% of the time it will have the same effect and it's 200% better.
Then I guess that we shouldn't listen to Trump and Amaz's card reviews?
I can think of very few streamers who are actually very accurate when it comes to card reviews. They may get the obvious ones right, but the ones they get wrong, they get VERY wrong.
While this is true the player community is no better than streamers when they rate cards.
Remember, a good portion of the player community thought the rogue quest & priest DK were either sub-par or outright bad.
I think we all take it as given that the community is terrible at this.
