Is it just me, or does the competition heat up in the last days of the month? I was doing pretty well a few days ago, and no I've just lost almost 2 ranks in a few games, having only won 2 so far tonight. I keep switching between 2 decks and seem to get hard countered every time I do. Do some people wait till the end to rank or something?
Also, will I loose my rank bonus next month, or is this linked to my chest/
At the end of the season everyone wants to climb to their desired rank and they start tryharding as a result. People are out of time so they bring their best decks to climb as fast as possible.
Also you will get rewards based on the highest rank you achieved, not the one you're at, although the rank you will start at does get influenced by the one you end on now.

thought as much. my zoolock and agro druid are getting creamed by control-locks, tempo rogue and murloc pally. only games i won were against raza priest (weird) and another druid. I even got mashed off a hunter as he managed to utilise the "charge" mechanic" for his beasts.
I may try a mid hunter deck myself and see how I do.
I was also thinking of crafting lich king for my zoo to see if it helps, but tbh I don't see how one card would save me.
So will I loose my bonus start, or is that linked to the chest, please?
What rank are you currently on? It should technically be easier as the better players start to ladder up to the point you find players that should be on that rank and will more than likely end the season on that rank, so if you can't progress further it probably means that that is the rank where you should be according to your skill, this obviously is not perfect science and you could just have a bad luck streak or something might be tilting you or something as simple as for whatever reason your opponents may be drawing better than you. And no you don't lose your bonus, that's directly linked to your highest rank achieved aka your chest.

I was almost at rank 12, and now I'm on rank 15 with zero stars. I have been extremely unlucky in card draw and match up's as well I think.
Basically refining my decks for the current mini-meta I'm facing... so many control warlocks, man. I didn't even think cntrl-lock was in a good place, but it's stomping me. If it wasn't so close to a new meta I'd just craft myself a tempo rogue then ruin everyone. ha ha. I have about 6k dust and only need around 5800 to make it happen, but I think it's a stupid idea really as I will need new cards on the 8th to make my decks viable.
I do have the 50x pack pre ordered, but who's to say I will get anything I can even really use... the dust as a back up is probably my best option.
PS: I find mid month to be the sweet spot. I think too many people think they can ladder easy at the end of the month now and it's actually countering itself as far too many really strong decks tonight it seems. at least I won't loose my rank bonus though. highest I've climbed this month is rank 13 though, I wish I'd not taken a break and kept playing as I could have climbed much further last week.
PPS: anything I can play now that will get me more wins, like hard counter to the mini end of month meta? I do have options with hunter as I got Dk rexxar for free, i doubt hunter is all that good right now though, even though I got ruined by one in a few turns before,
It's not just the competition -- the meta has shifted, and more people are using decks that are not favorable matchups for Zoolock. I had a Warlock quest, and I finally had to switch to Casual to get it done.
However, you should not be surprised that you beat a Raza Priest. You are supposed to win that one.
Control Warlock, on the other hand, will always destroy you, and it's getting very popular right now.

No don't you craft anything rn we are literally a week away form the new expansion and while I think tempo rogue will still be strong, anything could happen, so save the dust. Also as I said maybe rank 12 is you cap as long as your current skill is, maybe you could make it to 10 with a streak of good match-ups and a bit of luck but 12 is probably your "real and honest" ranking. And as the other guys said, people that are not at their desired rank yet are now just playing the more try hard decks they have and the best against their local meta, so that also makes it difficult to ladder this late in the season. As for what's good against controlock really the more reliable stuff are greedier control decks or at least more solid ones, minion-based decks are bad against that archetype cause Warlock has an unhealthy amount of removals and board clears, Defile, Drain Souls, Syphon soul, Hellfire and Twisting Nether are really strong against fat boards with a lot of minions and then if you get to turn 10 you lose as you have no board, they bring their demon legion back with gul'dan and then they have a 3 damage ping that also heals for 3 every turn from that point on.

yeah dude, cntrl-lock is a difficult one. i may even try and build one myself. I just would prefer not to have to craft twisting nethers and doomsayers right now so close to K&C as I only have 6k dust.
I was thinking of trying to make a tempo rogue with as little of the cards like cairne bloodhoof as pos. I only need the vilepsines and si:7's out of the none legendary cards, and out of the legendary ones I need edwin, lich king (or shaku) and cairne. I could possibly just craft the 2x si7's, 2x vilespinesa and then edwin and lich king though (I already have leeroy, keleseth and patches) then throw barnes in maybe!? I think those other cards will still be good for a tempo rogue deck in the new meta, only with those 2 new legendaries that seem to suit the deck so well,
main thing I'm worried about is the K7C priest decks as they are seeming to make minion based decks null. maybe something like quest mage would be better. i already have the legendary quest card, so doable, only not sure as it sems very hard to pilot.
any advice for me, please? should I build a tempo rogue or exodia or something, or is waiting for the new cards the best bet and just cut my losses for now?
I already crafted keleseth and patches next month (had leeroy from last year when I started playing) so maybe going with the tempo rogue would be a good idea to get the most out of the cards... I mean I could build the whole deck (cairne included) for 5800, but then i'd have no dust for K&C (although I do have the 50x pack to open on the 8th)
I would like to try and rank before the 8th next month though in case I cannot build a meta deck after that, so maybe building something better is a good idea.

thanks. I was actually thinking of crafting a control-lock myself. thing is I need most of the more expensive cards, so probs not the best idea.
The stuff I can currently build are all tempo based decks with lots of minions, so guess I'm screwed for now then.
The competition doesn't necessarily become more skilled, but people typically play more aggressive or tier 1 decks to crush noobs and rank as efficiently as possible. I usually play mid month until I hit a rank floor I'm satisfied with and then play ridiculous decks purely for lulz and the rare chance at infuriating a few idiots. Good times!

I may break out the red mana worm build then.. will be awesome to get some wins with that.. or try some kind of spell or weapon heavy deck so control players can't do much to me.
I think people definitely try hard near the end of the season. I logged on last night and played like 5 raza priests in a row at rank 9 before I had enough.

I made it to 4 last season with my aggro taunt druid. I got to 7 this season 2 weeks ago then kept bouncing from 7-9. I eventually started trying variations of the deck (including a couple with Snowflipper Penguin, but that ultimately didn't work out), and ended up going with a standard aggro druid deck that took me to 5, going 17-7. The aggro druid seemed to work much better than the standard aggro deck last month, I think because I was facing more control decks and the taunts were able to survive AoE. This month, decks seem to be more aggressive with things like pirates, so adding Golakka Crawler back in helped in the standard aggro.

can you post the deck, please I'm running my own taunt version at the moment. I don't use stone shell's though as never get to do much with them. won a few games with it early this morning. I was even winning with a basic taunt hunter though so I think all the god players were in bed or something
It’s been this way since at least late 2014, which is when I started. Last days are the desperate people trying to climb to get better rewards. This means that it gets pretty cutthroat on the last few days of the month. Doable, but harder
The meta has changed in the last few days for sure. I cruised up to 10 with my budget hunter deck and then suddenly faced loads of better aggro decks than mine although almost hit rank 9 last night

I'm gonna try out my 2 hunter decks this afternoon again. the death rattle one is a beast when it gets going. The mid range one is rather typical, both are very cheap to craft though.
Meta is always changing. Last month I had like 70% win ratio with control warlock up to rank 4. This month it couldn't reach rank 10. With right deck you can climb to rank 5 in one day.
This month handbuff paladin and tempo mage were the best for me. Handbuff paladin will win the board easily and his minions grows faster than druid's golems or warlock's zoo. This deck has taunts, divine shields and heals, so it can manage hunter or tempo mage. He is viable against priest since he can make most minions to have 4 attack. Only real problems are with Quest mage, which can stall the game and do OTK and Shaman, who's Devolve is a hard counter for this deck.
Tempo mage is good against everything if it gets a good hand. Easy deck to play and you clearly see when you will lose. If you lost the board, and don't have enough damage in spells in hand you should concede.
got any examples of current handbuff and tempo mage? thanks.
just got to rank 12 with a mix of aggro-taunt druid and demon-zoolock. Was doing really well with zoo, wrecking even raza-priest, then faced a standard aggro-token druid and got destroyed by tempo with pirates on turn one and no golakka's. thinking of dropping kele from my zoo and adding Golakka's maybe.
