People have always cried out for a control meta, but every time slower decks start dominating, they cry for nerfs. Control Priest? Hated. Jade Druid? Despised. Handlock, Elemental Mage, Ramp Druid? OP DK.
And it's always been that. During the last expansion, Control Mage, Midrange Pally, and Taunt Warrior were strong, and it wasn't enough. Before that, Reno decks were popular, but were hated because they were just part of the "Reno vs Patches" meta.
There's been at least one tier 1 control deck at almost all times for the past year, but you still hear people claiming that it's not enough, that the meta is still cancer. So what do you want?
I'll wager a guess; you just want Control Warrior back. You can be honest.
Yes, CW are a decent and fun deck, the strong was the entire strategy and don't in 2 or 3 beyond broken cards like Raza + DK, you have great tools to defende yourself but don't deny the possibility for the opponent respond your game plan like stupid infinite OP mechanic like Jade Idol.
In other words, control DECKS, instead OP bullshit individual cards.
Personally I have enjoyed all of the actual control metas that hearthstone has had. Having one control deck in the meta does not make it a control meta. Just a note: some of those decks you listed are midrange decks and not control decks.
Control Meta, yes. Fatigue meta (I'm looking at you obnoxious Control Warriors) no. I like a good long game, but playing against an opponent who's almost entirely reactive is just annoying and when you lose a 30+ minute game because your opponent's deck is entirely removal based it really just sucks. This is why I don't mind combo decks, they keep that crap in line.
People always complain about the current meta, whatever it is. That's because what is ok for someone is not for others, so a control meta may be good for some but awful for other people. Also HS community is always whining about some "cancerous" deck here and there, but that's because most are sad people that cannot manage their emotions in a card game.

For what profit is it to a man, if he gains the world and loses his own soul?

I hate being that guy but can I please, very kindly, just tell you that those people might not be the same people. Maybe one group of people want a control meta and anoyher group of people cry for nerfs when the first group of people get their wish?
I am not sure the above is correct but it could be one ‘answer’ to your paradox, correct?
I've loved them. I think there is a "faction" of people that don't like it, because they can only create aggro through tempo/ midrange, so some of them have no chance to build the control decks = wah unfair deck I can't run. even if statistically they have a positive win rate. and as others have said, there's no such thing as a "control" meta there's meta that features control.
The reason control meta sucks so bad is that people rope the entire game while they try and figure out what's a good card to play. It wouldn't be so bad if people just played a card quickly. Sitting there while your opponent thinks out every single turn is quite boring. You begin to get distracted and then finally, end up making a bad play. So there's that. Faster decks simply allow you to have a more interactive tempo based play style. People make faster decisions and the games keep moving because they don't have 10 cards in their hand every turn trying to decide which one to throw away.
Don't get me wrong. If this is what you enjoy, then by all means go play in wild and sit there while your opponent throws cards away and then plays Justicar Trueheart into Reno Jackson, and then concede. If you enjoy games where you never really had a chance, it only depended on whether your opponent drew Reno Jackson, then play wild. Every single game during that control meta was decided by Reno Jackson. Or Justicar Trueheart. I hated those 2 cards more than any type of aggro card like Patches the Pirate. At least you knew if your opponent played aggro you wouldn't have to sit through every turn until the end of the rope and then 1 card drops. And then after 30 minutes out drops Reno/Justicar.
Don't worry, you can already see that next expansion there is a Warlock Legendary that basically wins you the game if you can stall long enough. That card is begging for a control deck. Warrior also has the tools and I'll bet their Legendary weapon will not be aggro based. It's going to either damage every minion on the board or have some kind of execute mechanic. And Jade Druid isn't going anywhere for a few months.
If anything we need more threads about Mid range decks. Decks where you play a 3 cost 3/4 minion and actually still have a chance. Stop printing broken cards like PK, Bonemare, Raza, Jade Idol.

I think if control becomes viable, blizzard should support the midrange decks. That was the reason why ungoro meta was soo good. There was control decks yes, but you have midrange to counter it. Same could have said for Old gods meta
A control meta would be horrible, decks would get greedier and matches would get longer. A healthy meta is what we want, like the one we have now. Plenty of control, aggro, control and combo decks out there. They will need to print a good aggro card soon as well, since Patches is rotating out and he literally carries aggro at the moment, they wouldn't be anywhere near viable without him, hunter doesn't utilise him well and look at the state they are in! But even though they suck compared to the rest, still perfectly viable. People probably moan about Patches, however he keeps games going quicker and keeps control decks in check, without Patches at the moment the meta would be very unhealthy.
I loved CW as a skill check deck. Same as handlock or even renolock. Razakus priest? Won like 8 games in succesion first time I picked it up. True, I have it golden and what not, but still, easy and boring. And Jade Druid? That deck hasnt been control since KFT. And it always sucked, anyways. 'Tis my opinion of course. Nowadays, the decks I mostly enjoy are my own lists for a Curator CW, a DK midrange/control paladin and a control warlock. Not great winrate, but fun if I survive more than 5 turns.
I like control v control matches when there is aggro to fight outside of that match.
Let's be honest here. If you are teched against aggro, and you run into an ultra-greedy 13 legendary deck + double mind control + all the steal priest cards + malchezaar, chances are your loss won't be enjoyable at all. If both decks are properly balanced to handle faster decks, and even in terms of win conditions, then yes, I'd say the game would be fun.
There is also the whole question of what kind of control we are talking about. Before the Gadgetzan Mistake, control matches were fun, and not infinite (See: Golden Monkey). Now, however, 2 "control" matches in a row rape your brain with such mindnumbing stupidity that you will only be able to play Pirate Warrior and Candy Crush for a whole week.
What I'm trying to say is: give us a mode where there is no Gadgetzan we can ban 1 expansion, and bring back non-infinite late game decks.

+1 . I would pay blizzard to be able to play fibonacci's dw+justicar CW again.

Do you really want a control meta?

Because people always want to win or at least have 90% win rate regardless whichever meta they are in...

I miss Control Warrior soooo much.... I'd take those days back in a minute!

control metas are awesome , the only issue is how hard they nerfed combo , no rock paper scissor without control / aggro / combo
I think the current meta is quite healthy.
There are a few cards that have some critical impact, notably Bonemare, UI, Jade Idol and a few others (Reno in Wild).
But a Tempo based meta that lets any other archetype have its space is possibly the best meta we can have.
Anything else turns out to be much more boring and frustrating (either Aggro or Control meta).
