I know many players are working towards all golden heroes, but once you see that shiny portrait do you drop the class entirely?
Priest and Druid were my first 2 golden classes, but unfortunately I completed them months ago so I have no interest in playing Kazakus or Jade decks at all. If I get a quest to play X number of cards/games with those them I immediately switch it out even if it means I get one for 40 gold instead of 60. Does anyone else feel like they aren't making any progress if they play with golden heroes?
Hunter is likely going to be my first golden hero, I'm sitting at 465 wins at the moment, and I definitely won't stop playing it when I hit 500 wins. The only class that's dead to me is Mage, I play it only in Tavern Brawls and Arenas(but I barely play Arena, like 3 times per expansion).
Not at all honestly. I just play whatever deck I like playing and after a certain amount of games it obviously comes naturally. I don't get people who specifically grind for golden heroes either. I mean sure.. it's nice and pretty but grinding? Really?
I only have 1/9 golden heroes, they aren't "dead" to me but I just don't play them as often as I'm working on getting the other 8 to golden. I don't even have all classes to level 60 yet, so I have to work on those first.
Plus from what I heard (started HS this August) the meta is pretty balanced now compared to earlier times in HS history so its not like I am compelled to play one or two classes.
I stopped playing mage after I got it gold in the first 2 or 3 months of playing (apart from high value quests requiring mage). Took me over a year to get every other class golden.
Still have mage as my highest win class (870 odd I think) but rogue is catching up fast (Paladin was for a while but I play N'Zoth paladin so the games take forever).
Yes. I got golden warlock probably a year ago and have maybe 30 wins on it since then. Working on warrior at the moment (450 wins or so), but I play very casually so it takes a long time to get anywhere.
I've got two golden heroes ( Hunter and Paladin ). I definitely play a lot less paladin, and a fair degree less of hunter - and it mostly is because I want to feed wins to my non-golden classes. I'm under 50 wins from getting golden mage - but I think I'll still play a good amount of mage ( good collection of decent mage cards ! ).
I'm far off from getting all golden heroes, but in any game I tend to play every class or archetype off and on even if I gravitate towards some favorites. I can't ever imagine staying away from Warlock, Rogue or Warrior for very long as I love them. But everyone gets burnt out sometimes; you might need a break after grinding a ton of games.
priest was my first golden hero. I have it for almost 2 years now and its still at 538 wins. Mage and warlock still at ~520 wins after a year. so yeah for me its like a dead hero in ranked, I switch to another hero and thats it. Still need to finish hunter/druid/warrior/rogue but sometimes its really hard to find interesting decks to play with.
Usually I play arena though, for me, ranked means getting to rank5 every month and forget the format again for a few weeks. :)
I have Golden Pally at 750+ wins, and this past month just hit my second (Rogue) and third (Priest). Ironically Priest was always my least favorite class until Big Priest and Spiteful Priest became a thing (but i play my own home brew versions).
I don’t think it’s less of a sense of achievement playing classes that are already golden. I like those classes, which is why I’ve played them so much. I don’t ever “grind out” wins with a class to get that hero golden, unless I’m already at 480+, then i might play until i get there. Looks like I’ll hit Druid next, although the only Druid deck I’m enjoying right now is the Oakheart Dragon Druid (which I’m terrible with).
Im sure I’ll be at 1k+ with Paladin by the time i finish up all classes!
Yes. I have 7/9. I only play Warrior and Hunter on ladder (ugh, lucky me). To avoid temptation I only play all others in casual. Once I have all 9 (probably by expansion 2 this year) I will have the freedom to play whatever I want again!
Yeah, it's just logical if you're going for completion. When I was working towards it, I'd only dip back in if I needed quick ranks. Once you get all 9 you get a nice satisfying freedom of being able to play what you want without feeling like you're not being efficient with your time.

Well I haven't earned a golden hero yet. But druid is dead to me anyway

Hit rank 15 with a homebrew back in the KOFT days.
Yaayyy...
There's all my notable achievements.
Hell no. Priest was my first main and first golden, and still my favorite class. It has my most wins by a long shot.
I play Mage and Rogue (my other two goldens) less frequently.

I have all 9 golden, but for me the only 2 classes dead because I don't play with them unless a quest required are hunter and paladin.
Warlock, shaman and druid I play a little sometimes.
My favorite classes are rogue, mage, priest and warrior.
To me, golden heroes are a by-product of them being my main classes.
So they stay as such independently.
I have yet to earn a golden hero.

Why would I care about golden heroes in the first place?
People who show off their golden heroes are called golden showers and apparently that's quite popular in Germany and on internet.
It's more or less the opposite. I have one golden hero and mainly play as him. Other classes are mostly for completing quests.

Grinding a class that you don't like in order to unlock a cosmetic that you will never use... is that even a thing?
