So to answer your quequestion about if we've had a card infiltrate so many classes we take a trip back in time. Before the rotation, when wild was the only ranked play essentially. Where the meme Dr. # began. Dr. Boom [/card] was played not only by pretty well every class but most arch types as well. It was considered at one time the best legendary to craft along side cards like [card]Ragnaros and Sylvanas Windrunner.
As for the sudden influx there's a couple contributing factors;
1. End of season, most people will play aggressive or quick decks to try and rush up the ladder the last few days of the season.
2. Nerfs, with the recent set of nerfs going around alot (or just some) of people are going to try something new or different. With the Keleseth decks gaining traction due to things such as streamers having success or just word traveling via friends and forums they hear it's a good deck and, as you put it, jump on the band wagon.
3. Streamers, this is just elaborating on something in point 2. Some streamers have been showing the strength of the deck and so other people are trying out the deck themselves to see if it's something they are just as successful with or enjoy since the decks they were playing have for one reason or another dulled or are just not as successful.

I'm laughing these days because I used to run Keleseth in a zoolock deck at the start of the KotFT meta and everyone just went on with their sarcastic "wow..."
And I am NOT laughing, because I have dusted him, not once, but twice ... one being golden.
Aaaaaaand before anyone says "don't ever dust a legendary from the current expansion...." (a) I have kicked my own ass enough the last 2 days, thank you very much ... and (b) ... sometimes ya gotta do what ya gotta do to get dust, and the consensus always seemed to be that the Princes were trash, so into the dustpile they went.

The problem though is there is no consensus that matters or means anything in the first place when a set first comes out. People can have theories and reasons to back those theories up with regards to card viability, but they'll only ever be theories, and there are countless times when sound theories turn out to be wrong. It's effectively happened with every expansion.
And why the sudden influx of Keleseth decks? Its not like the card just came out 3 days ago. Bandwagon, I guess?
Because people are morons whos opinion is only based upon streamers opinions. That + people are too greedy to spend money on this game so they would have been able to test cards by themselves. Or just too poor to be able to invest this money.
But mainly because people are too stupid, lazy and lack imagination to picture in their heads how a match up could have progressed with certain cards.
lack of creativity was always a consistent problem in the community. most of them are afraid to try something else and if their deck is not a meta deck, they can not climb anything. bulls**t
Not really sure why the hate on the keleseth mage? Especially not with the no creativity comments. Also people were playing keleseth before the nerfs and doing quite well with it (kelemental rogue was a featured deck on this site and my modified version did really well prior to the nerfs) Keleseth in elemental mage is actually a lot of fun and it takes a great deal of sacrifice in deckbuilding especially in wild due to loss of unstable portal, frost bolt, pyros, etc. It's not like this card has no trade off. Keleseth rogue has bad match ups (secret mage can cause problems for it).

Used to love playing mage, but been on wild all month, and managed Rank8 with OTK Paladin, considering im just a casual player, im happy settling with that. Can understand the use of aggro for quick climbs tho
So I would have to say, at least from my play experience from last night and tonight ... we have a new Dr.2 Prince Keleseth
12 of last 19 games have been a Keleseth deck. I seriously just played a Keleseth mage! A freaking MAGE! Two Warlocks, and a pile of Rogues.
Has any one card ever infiltrated so many classes before?

Because all the top aggro decks got nerfed. Apparently Prince 2 decks were the next best decks to take up the aggro mantle
