I've noticed that some players give away their deck archetype based off of the card back they choose. This wouldn't matter much during the game (or in arena), except the mulligan is important. For example, I've played against quite a lot of Rogue and Warrior players that go with the Pirate card back. You can expect in most cases for those players to be running pirates. Queue into a Druid with the Jade card back. Could it be aggro or ramp? Definitely jade. If my opponent has a Christmas card back, Valentine's Day card back, or the Rainbow or Cupcake card back, they're probably going to emote the most and play a troll deck. The legend card back is interesting, as it can be super frustrating for a new/F2P player who queues into someone using it at Rank 20. Do you think the card back choice matters? Should players care that they let their opponent know what they're going to be before playing a single card?
I dont think ive ever played differently or mulliganed differently because of card backs. The only time i even notice cardbacks is if its the golden celebration or tespa collegiate
I use the Valentine's Day card back so I can believe in the heart of the cards. But you would also be right in assuming that I'm playing a troll deck most the time.
Idk, I don't think that many people coordinate their card backs to their deck. I just pick a card back I like/feel like having that day/week/season and roll with it for a while. I imagine a lot of people do the same. Definitely wouldn't consider it a reliable mulligan guide. XD Although I do pay attention sometimes because sometimes (not always) the card back can be an indication of the player's possible skill, or at the very least experience. Obviously legend card back is hard to get, while the plain card back is likely to be a fairly new player. If you know roughly when a card back was released you can estimate how long the opponent has been playing. But is this really useful info? Probably not very.
I don't know much about archetypes, but I have always made a few assumptions myself.
Hogger - These guys always run the top-tier decks, regardless of the mode they are in. Usually assholes too, so kill on sight.
Naxxramas Heroic Mode - These guys seem to always carry Piloted Shredder in their decks. Most also run N'Zoth.
LoE Heroic - If it's a Priest, this guy always draws Entomb as soon as I drop anything valuable.
Ninja - They are playing pirates
Grimy Goons - They are playing pirates
Pirate - They are playing pirates
Tinyfin - They are playing pirates
Kabal - EIther a dragon priest or a jade druid
Legend - I might just become extra critical when I meet them, but these guys usually suck. Anything math related or overall reliant in game knowledge typically harms them in any way possible. There's no excuse not to know how to properly go face when Bolf Ramshield is in play
BRM Heroic - For some reason, these are rare, but they tend to be good players (and no, I don't run this card back myself, before you ask) who take way too long to think about their turns.
Everything else is up for grabs

Start of Year: Provoke the failure of 3 expansions, force nerfs on otherwise balanced cards, bring deckbuilding to an all-time low and get rotated one year earlier for being such a threat to the game's health. - Genn and Baku's historical entry on the White Book of Shit Design, shortly before retiring unpunished
You always assume your opponent is playing the most popular deck of their class at the moment. Anyone letting a cardback affect their mulligan or play is an idiot.
I play with the Ninja card back strictly. It's to show people I've been around for a while, and, concerning psychology, I play incredibly off-meta decks, so you're caught off guard when I play Blade of C'Thun on turn 22.
Basic card back is a troll always playing a cancer deck and will make obvious mistakes and will still win and emote dumb shit at you for trying to play an original deck

If you see someone with a basic skin for a gun in a shooter,do you assume they have spent the necessary amount of time in the game to be good at it? Cosmetics go a long way in showing the amount of time a player has put into a game and can sometimes indicate skill.

"Hmmmmmmm this Druid is using the Jade Lotus cardback, better mulligan for Jade".
*plays Astral Communion*
"Hmmmmmmm this Shaman is using the Tinyfin Beach card back, better mulligan for Murlocs".
*plays Feugen/Stalagg with Ancestral Spirit.*
"Hmmmmmmm this Warrior is using the Pirates! cardback, better mulligan for Pirates".
*plays C'Thun*. What is this, 2016?
Don't mulligan based on your opponents card back, you'll have a bad time.

Nowt wrong with rainbows
EDIT: Roy Skelton (who voiced George & Zippy) also did the voice of the Daleks in Dr. Who
I usually play with the basic cardback so people think i'm new and i get underestimated.

I think the chance of a wrong prediction is so high that it's not really worth.
PS: i often use Christmas cardback but i don't even know what a troll deck is, and i rarely emote ever.
If I wear a dress to a party, do I have a vagina?
Ask yourself if that kind of question makes sense, and you'll soon understand why cardback psychology isn't a thing.

I used to coordinate my cardbacks with my decks but then I got lazy. So now I just run the Diablo cardback 24/7, because Diablo.
If you see someone using the void cardback, chances are, they don't watch Octoberbrawl and are using it because it looks cool
If you see someone using the salt cardback, chances are, they are Kripp fans
