This game is robbery. Once you buy packs with real money - you open high value card (golden leg or smth). I noticed this few times. Also, with current expansion release rate if you want to have decent golden collection - you have to constantly buy packs. I'm playing this game for ***ing 3 years and donated probably 150-200$ and I still can't get golden collection for ONE, single class. I'm not even close. This is just cash cow and Blizzard really should be ashamed of how they treat this game.

Why you want golden collection? You may be surprised, but non-golden cards work exactly the same as golden cards. Basically, golden cards are for naive dudes who believe it mean something to play golden deck.
I have played Magic for years. It was expensive, but I'm about to sell my collection and get a decent price for it. Many cards have more than doubled in value since I bought them. I'm sure I'm getting at least 50% of my money back. Considering how much fun I've had with MTG over the years, I feel that it was money well spent. With HS, I don't get that feeling at all.
Comparing HS to other videogames is an even worse idea. Thanks to Steam (sales), I never even spend spend 50$ on a single game anymore. 50$ gets you full games, plural. In HS, 50$ doesn't even get you 5% of all cards. You'd think that Blizzard would be satisfied taking 50$ (150$/year!!) in return for a full set.
Even if you'd spend 150$ a year, you still have no idea what you're going to end up with. The RNG may smile on you, but when it doesn't and you end up with two shitty legendaries after paying 50$, you'll feel pretty screwed over.
Blizzard could and would settle for a lot less. With more and more digital card games coming out, I sincerely hope they'll be forced to end this ridiculous money grabbing. Until that time, greed is good.
Someone probably pointed this but in MTG you can sell your cards. So the comparison is flawed, to say the least.
Exactly, i don't see the point in comparing these two. It's like saying that cars are expensive, they cost 10.000$ and i can drive Ferrari in Need for Speed for 50$.
Whether Hearthstone is expensive or not is very subjective as it very much depends on the financial situation of individual and how important Hearthstone is to them compared to the other ways they spend their time. However, one thing I can say is that the cost of maintaining a complete or near complete collection has plummeted since the no-duplicate-legendaries change.
On the contrary, comparing HS to other games is objective. Yes, every consumer will decide what and how much to buy. And yes, those choices will be influenced by personal preferences and budgets. That pretty much applies everywhere, and it doesn't affect the conclusion that HS is ridiculously overpriced compared to other games.
Non-dupe legendaries are indeed a step in the right direction. The recent festivals also cut us some slack. It has been said steps like these are a consequence of increased competition from other games. Let's hope that competition continues to increase and HS's prices will become reasonable. For now, there's a long way to go.
Do you think the introduction of in game trading would help the game out? In my opinion this would never happen but it would be so good for HS blizzard introduced an in game economy in one of thier other game besides WOW.

I think it would help only slightly. It would most likely be set up like the WoW auction house, so you would have a couple things going on. One, you would have friends trying to "trade" cards by setting very low prices in the AH, and with that comes snipers (and massive butt hurt when your item gets sniped), and you would still just be shuffling the best cards around between the higher end players, because they would be the ones that have the resources to buy them. It is not a bad idea, but it has the potential to make the game worse, or have little effect also.

I wanna glide down, over Mulholland I wanna write her, name in the sky I wanna free fall, out into nothin' Gonna leave this, world for awhile
For me, a comparison of HS to other CGs is moot, because I don't enjoy the others like I do Hearthstone. I would never argue that HS is cheap, but compared to what other video games [of varying genre and type] offer, Hearthstone is worth considering.
And, as was mentioned by a couple others, AAA titles are finite, so I have to consider not only their initial cost but also the quantity of them I would need to fill the same timeslot as HS. That brings the overall price of HS more in line with what I already have been spending on other games and entertainment.
I see that almost everyone who wants to justify hearhstone price brings up mtg. Well mtg is a TCG and is mostly played in it's physical version, big difference is that you can sell you mtg cards( I believe that this is thing even in mtg online) and in hearthstone the cards are bound to your account.
All other card games offer better free to play experience than hearthstone , just look how games like gwent, esl, eternal etc. reward players. This is not case just for card games tho, if you want to compare hearthstone with shitty pay to win mobile games then you can also compare it to other free to play games that are actually good. League of legends offers fair free to play experience that is constantly improving, unlocking all champions takes a lot of time but it is possible as free to play player(no matter what you do you will never get full collection in hearthstone even if you preorder every expansion). Dota 2 just gives you every hero for free and only thing to spend money on are cosmetics.
I hope that MTG:Arena doesn't screw up somehow, it could be the first real competitor for hearthstone.
I think that your analysis is true to be "updated". if you are a new player you should spend at least four times more to buy the previous expansions.
About the gold limit, i think they added to stop people from bot farming. They put high enough such that the casual player will never notice but not so high that someone could get lots of benefit from bot farming.

Now that's more like what they're talking with mobile strike. I have no comprehension on why a golden collection is attractive. I'd disenchant every single one of those cards and craft more of my collection or save that dust for next expansion... No one's forcing you to collect the purely cosmetic golden collection. what a wierd thing to get mad about.
I think part of the fun is figuring out how to make decks well enough to grind the dust for getting the collection... That's in fact half the point of the game. getting better at deck building, slowly getting a collection. People want to bypass that and buy their way to net decks, That's not really how the game is meant to be enjoyed. admittedly when I started you didn't really start seeing the "meta" net decks until around rank 13, I think the real problem is that HS doesn't ease you in slow enough, not enough ranks and ladders. perhaps not enough new players are joining any more to make the new player experience work, or perhaps it's just that when someone stays they immediately net deck the "best" deck so players only play against really good decks, even against relatively new players.
Prior to each expansion, Blizzard offers a 50-pack pre-order for $50 USD. During the ~120 days between expansions, players can easily earn 7200g [at 60g per day for wins + daily quests] -- or 72 more packs. So for $50 every ~3 months, a player can open 122 packs per expansion. (This is generally enough cards to amass a decent, competitive collection.)
To really feel like you're getting the most out of Hearthstone, I think 180 packs per expansion is a great goal. That means another $70 USD for 60 more packs. At a grand total of $120 per ~120, that comes out to $1 per day.
One thing to mentation: not everyone wants to play this game on everyday basis and sometimes some players just want to have a break from HS. So for example if you pass some previous expansions and now come to play for 2-3 weeks (14-21 days) and need at least 180 packs from both KFT and Un'Goro to enjoy the game - it will cost you 70x3x2=420$ to play for 2-3 weeks or ~30$-20$ per day. So HS is affordable in your very special case, but not so affordable on basis level. You need to invest so much time to have a price 1$/day.

This auto-pilot game has nothing to offer expect nostalgia on Warcraft universe and fancy effects. That's what golden cards are for. Period, smartass.
You're doing it wrong then.
Besides only players with money to burn or streamers give a shit about golden decks. It's just greed and blizz get paid if that's your thing.
Even Kripparian sitting in his golden house on his pile of money gave up on the gold card thingio.
I think Brian "Don't call me 'Brian "Brian Kibler" Kibler'" Kibler of Brian Kibler Gaming has a decent gold card collection though.
I love this idea. Never gonna happen though.
I loved the last brawl for the same reason. Finally the full deck experience for all.
