I really don't know what's happened to hearthstone but I don't think I've played an enjoyable control/midrange vs control/midrange match up in the last two years. I think it started with Huntard or Warlock Zoo back in Naxx but everyone seems to just want to win or lose matches as fast as possible with super aggro based decks. I believe legendary ranks ruined the game. Instead of people wanting to try and create an unbeatable or fun deck, they want to create a deck that wins at a 51%-60% rate as fast as possible or use netdecks. Pirate Warrior/Murlocadin can dish out 30 face damage by turn 4 with a perfect mulligan and with a terrible mulligan loses before turn 7. I haven't really enjoyed playing standard because its all net decks. No one wants to be creative anymore. I prefer to play against my friends when possible with random decks we design from scratch.
It's true. But it's a competitive game. People want to win, therefore they come up with decks that win more. Aggro is part of the game, nobody will deny that a 30 minute control game is boring if you play 3 in a row.
don't forget to mention it's basically druid/priestone right now and things are only going to get worse once nerfs hit on monday because 3 of the decks that could actually counter jade druid (aggro druid, pirate warrior and murlocadin) are all taking a hit so that'll make priest ever more powerful and jade druid won't change much either, fun times. xD

Rumors are carried by haters, spread by fools, and accepted by idiots.
State of the game is rng rng rng rng, aggro, or jade. Minus jade, this is going to be the games outlook moving forward. Rng is what keeps casuals and underskilled individuals playing. It gives them the illusion of skill progression. rng is why you will never see the return of fair control decks like nzoth paladin and control warrior.
Pretty sure that the meta hasn't been this slow since the game exists. Not saying the game's current state is healthy at all, but you seem to be focusing on the wrong problems.
I wish I had some friends who played, because playing fun casual decks is really where a lot of fun in this game resides (when both parties participate anyway). It has been getting steadily more difficult to play this way as this game grows in popularity and Blizzard's pockets need to be lined more and more.
Ladder is monotonous to an extent, but it has always been that way, even when this game was young.
I remember playing MtG as a kid with my friends, and we had the best time when we used stupid decks like Bird Tribal, Demon Burn, etc. FNM is nice and all, but sometimes I wish it had a less competitive feel (it's not like the prizes are really worth it anyway). I think what you have going with your friends is perfect. You guys should dedicate some set time per week where you all can get together and duke it out with colorful decks, sort of like your own Fireside Gathering deal.

Nature is the Day. Man is the Sun. Woman is the Moon. The Stone is the Sky. The Art is the Way.
Whats worse is when I play a friend who just uses a netdeck and claims it was all skill in the mulligan. What skill? The skill to realize that if you have cards that cost 4 or more you should mulligan them for your overpowered 1 drops or a weapon?
Yeah that shit ticks me off. I hate when I ping someone on my list because I have 80g quest, then they proceed to play PW against me, like wtf dude get over yourself.

Except Miracle Rogue,Control decks are not fun.Why should people play control decks? to let quest mage draw enough and then AHA AHA !! or let jades become 10/10 ! or let quest rogue play 1 mana 5/5? or let your opponent mill you? or let DK priest deal huge damage with zero mana hero power!? and...

Idk what you think a control deck is but miracle rouge and Jade druid aren't control decks. They're gimmicky. The Priest is broken anyways, hero powers should never cost 0 unless its for 1 turn or while a minion is active. Not Because there is a 5/5 card that permanently makes it cost 0 and a hero power that renews when you play cards.
They have a serious design problem on their hands, and the nerfs wont solve it:
Agro/token shaman
Pirate/fatigue warrior
Highlander Priest
Jade/token druid
Exodia mage
Face/midrange hunter
Murloc Paladin
All of these decks dont care about what your opponent does, they want to interact as little as possible and either snowball curve minions for the face win, or hit critical mass and otk you. Oh, and several of these go infinite as well. Infinite damage, infinite jades, infinite deck size etc. The worst part is, that the majority of these decks are autopilot as well.
Hearthstone basically turned into solitaire when its supposed to be a heads up/interactive game. Its completely and utterly busted. What is most mind boggling to me is that 95% of the community, apparently rather want to play solitaire than an interactive game. Is winning really that important ? and why? rank 5? Dont people care about having a good experience?
Netdecks or rank 20. Don't blame players for it, blame Blizzard.
Wrong. Im currently rank 7 using a homebrew. Blaming blizzard for picking decks is an excuse to have easy wins. People need to take responsibility for their own choices when they pick tier 1 decks by default, noone is forcing your hand.

Anybody else have thoughts on this?

Aggro will be the same. Jade Druid will get countered just as much as it used to. And you won't have to worry about flappy bird.

It amazes me people even use the word skill in hearthstone , there is very little , is mainly luck and RNG
and to use phrases like" high end players" is laughable, high end paid = play all day, they have no skill either just lots of time
You sound salty

One day this game will stop existing. I can't wait.
