In my experience it's really important you do NOT react to roping the first turn or two - some people do try this, presumably to get free concedes/induce tilt. It's tempting to start spamming emotes/shuffling cards/highlighting their hero or even roping them back - THIS ALWAYS encourages them. Just chill, open hearthpwn or reddit and browse a bit, you'll find the opponent gets bored and starts playing normally turn 3 onward.
Lifecoach is at the right extreme of the bell curve, even if the average Joe thinks every turn for those whole 75 seconds he will never be able to do what LF does with those seconds. And how many times does someone in a game need to rope more than 2-3 consecutive turns before the game turns trivial? Almost never.
Sure you might play a mirace-ish deck and need the time or play a reallly hard combo/control deck and need to think but that doesn't happen on all turns starting from t1, only 1-2 turns in a whole game.
But at the same time as in my case there is a little asshole that starting with T1 decided to rope on every single turn, their turn starts, they do their play and then wait until the rope hits, every single turn, it's annoying, uncalled for and imo unacceptable, if you gotta think it's fine but not deliberately waste someone else's time.
I have no remorse for the amount if swearing i put in the original post. And i still think that at least getting your turn nazdormu'd after the 3rd rope is needed. The % of times someone really uses that time is way lower that the % of retards on ladder. And in LC's case it's easy, in tournament mode remove the restriction.
What we need more is the ability to b**tch slap aggro druids that play fledgegling on turn 1! >:(
You really hate that deck and that opener, don't you? :P
Two things make me as salty as kripp mate, watching anduins b*tch face emoting and that seeing annoying bird on turn one.So yeah i do hate it.Most of my defeats were because of that opener.
Yep, it is a very powerful and annoying opener. Innervate has always been a very powerful card and very probably deserves the nerf, but did Team 5 really had to print a card like Vicious Fledgling? Like seriously, wtf, just wtf... :(
Implementing a system to detect false (or 'salty') reports is actually a good problem for Machine Learning/Neural Networks/Deep Learning. With the amount of data they gather each day is achievable. Do you think the salty king genre (MOBAs) don't have that kind of filters given the size of their companies?
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
"There are bad ways to win-- and good ways to lose. What's interesting and troubling is that it's not always clear which is which. A flipped coin doesn't always land heads or tails. Sometimes it may never land at all..."
I definitely think a report button for post-game trolls who send friend requests is something that's needed. I'm 31 and I usually find it funny and reply with rap lyrics, but I can just imagine some poor 12-year kid might be pretty freaked out if they're suddenly getting death threats.
Coming from an MTG background I really don't think 70 second turns are bad at all. If the opponent is roping they're either trying to frustrate you, or they're overthinking it trying to emulate some player from youtube.
Lifecoach is at the right extreme of the bell curve, even if the average Joe thinks every turn for those whole 75 seconds he will never be able to do what LF does with those seconds.
So because Lifecoach is better than most players, the other players don't have the right to the same thinking time?! Surely the worst players should be following Lifecoach's example and thinking their plays out more carefully in order to improve?
And how many times does someone in a game need to rope more than 2-3 consecutive turns before the game turns trivial? Almost never.
I often spend 2-3 consecutive turns roping, thinking about plays when playing any kind of deck. I'm sure many others do too. I'm not doing it to annoy anyone.

Its not only combo/control that takes thought to play. Aggro decks often require the most thought in opening turns because they generally have the most options. I will often rope 1 and 2 playing aggro, considering different lines of play. There are definitely aggro decks that are more forgiving to bad plays but it doesn't mean they don't require thought to play them efficiently at a high level. I'm constantly surprised by the lines a pro chooses when playing aggro, it's too easy to get carried away playing aggro and make "obvious" plays before thinking them through.

How have you come up with this assertion? You're only making yourself upset by thinking the worst of people. Why not give people the benefit of the doubt?
Like someone already said, everyone in this game is allowed to take all the time they want and a report for roping it's just stupid. Now a report for adding friend and insulting is another discussion
Some sort of time bank developed in the course of play that allowed 1 or maybe 2 longer turns if earlier turns were played faster than the allotted time would suit me. I hate seeing rope. The people arguing for NO roping penalty are the same who argued turns couldn't possibly be shorter back when they were 90 sec long. Blizzard reduced the time to 70s and guess what... the game is still functional.
Both players face the same time restrictions so shorter turns would affect both players. Learn to think faster. Don't waste my time because you have underdeveloped IQ.
Id like to see a "blitz" mode where you could queue for opponents willing to play under tighter time restrictions. A combo of shorter turn time and harsh penalties for roping. I'd even be happy if burning rope ate away at health. The lifecoach-style thinkers could hang out in classic mode and watch each other rope. 80% of players would choose to play the quicker version.
Id also like to see autosquelch feature, which I predict 90% of players would enable if it was an option.
What makes Hearthstone so shit and underserving of my money?--broken expansion cards left to run on ladder too long, no autosquelch, no penalty for rope abuse.
You have about 1:30m to play your turn! accept it! not everyone plays on a pc, sometimes i play on a mobile that dont have a good speed and sometimes i lose one turn because the loading takes too long
That is why I say the turns should be different in time, so if you play 5 turns in 10 seconds you can get additional time for that one big turn when! = you play many cards (+time), animation takes time (+time). I even created a thread on the forum with poll but people didnt support me
We are talking about one little thing that smooths the game experience. I live in the country where internet access is slow and not reliable, so I face disconnect quite often and it is very unpleasant to return to the winning game to see that all the progress is lost, worse on mobile, where animation is basically can kill you. A balance can be found, everybody wants to take long turns to think long term to predict cards the opposite player has and so on, I don't see why, if you take the risk of taking shorter turn, you don't have to be rewarded, in the worst case animation should be excluded from the turn time.
I'd prefer a timebank-system like you have on some poker-sites.
Meaning you have a time-bank with 2 minutes in it, and all extra time you use is drawn from that timebank. The timebank will regenerate a small bit per round played.

The 1st step towards a better game is firing Mike Donais! We had enough of his "skillful" balances!

omg, for real, this is just game rules, you have 90 seconds for a turn, whats your problem?

Seriously if you get roped every turn start spamming hello. They'll probably concede

Do people seriously think that if you add a report button to ban toxic players, the toxic players won't report anyone? :P

How about putting a report button in player's Chat box that's more reasonable.
Turn 1 should be 10s, turn 2 20s etc until you hit the regular time.
That's Incredible!
