when having trouble with priests, one good tip to keep in mind.....stock a decent arsenal of of 4 attack minions so avoid them being destroyed with single play cards, and 2-3 silence options like Ironbeak Ow or Spellbreaker. 2nd is pay attention to available mana and keep in mind what card/combo can be used on that turn. learn to anticipate what they can/will do and then they are easy to beat.
This is true. But as a Shaman or Zoolock, I need to build a board in order to stand a chance. If I build a board, it get cleared. If I don't build the board in order to avoid certain cards such as Holy Nova or Cabal, he will push me down with his legendaries starting turn 6.
I however, stand by what I said in my opening post;
To all you priests, fuck you. (With a smile in mind, huehueh) ;)
i'll tell you a combo to combat the priest, run stealth minions, run bloodlust, run windfury....this will work unless they run mass dispel lol...or unless it's turn 9+ where they shadow word death their sylvannas
here's another combo, ancestral spirit+reincarnate on your syvlannas/cairne/kel thuzad, they can't clear that lol
Well the fact that you are trolling just got very obvious. I like to live by Hanlon's razor but there are limits. If you think legendaries have anything to do with money spent this far into the games lifespan you'd have to be pretty damn delusional.
Most of the better players just farmed dust & gold in arena to craft all the good cards within a few months of release...
Everyone here defending priests, please explain how you beat them.
Playing as Zoo: If you build up your board, it will get cleared. If you play defensive around Novas, Cabal and similar cards, you don't have enough pressure to finish the game before he throws his legendary cards out. You have one hope, and that is to spam your cards and pray to god that he can't clear them.
Due to Sludge Belcher Zoo suffered a bit... the game is more controllish meanwhile... so adapt or quit. I run 3 legendaries in my priest deck... all staple... (Sylvanas, Carine and Loatheb) and 2 epic (cabal)... so this is not expensive... everybody interested in playing priest can easily get a priest deck for laddering...

Huhu priest so tough, you should drop your class and try something new. Faceroller.
In order to beat priests, it's important to recognize which type of priest decks you're facing. Pre-Naxx, there were usually only two types of priests on the ladder, Amaz's control priest at high ranks and Divine Spirit + Inner Fire priest at low ranks. Post-Naxx, now you also face tempo priests which play a lot like a zoo deck while doing all the priest shenanigans.
Here's a quick guide on how to beat priests with Zoo.
Tempo priests are played a lot like a zoo deck. They play a minion or two every turn and vigorously fight for the board control. They usually start playing Undertaker or Zombie Chow on turn 1 followed by Loot Hoarder on turn 2, Dark Cultist or Injured Blademaster on turn 3, then Shadow Madness on turn 4 and so on. Their late game plays pretty similar to the control priests by stealing your minions and dropping many mid-range creatures. But if they don't have early drops and lose the board control, it's actually pretty hard for them to come back unless they top deck Auchenai Soulpriest + Circle of Healing. The same tactic applies here in general, but try to be as aggressive as possible early on by removing everything they drop right away. Once you have taken the board early, you can win the game with your card advantage.
Priests have answers to everything, but they are very reactive. You WILL get your cards and minions stolen and get hit by AoEs multiple times. So try to make your board as resilient as possible against board-wipes and lure out Shadow Madness and Cabal Shadow Priest with low-quality minions. When dropping a Doomguard, try to kill a minion (like Cabal Shadow Priest) with it instead of ignoring the board and going to the face because it WILL be removed with Shadow Word: Death. To be honest though, priest is a hard-counter against Zoo and Shaman. So, you won't win every game against them with Zoo and Shaman, but you will definitely improve your win-rate against them if you know how to play around their cards.
Priest is one of my easiest matchups as a control warrior. Each deck is different on how to play against priest, and priest is one deck that will punish inexperienced players. Your best bet is to play as a priest and see what plays your opponent makes that cause you the most trouble, that is how I learn how to beat any deck. I made a post a few days ago for a control warrior player with some tips on beating priest and I will go ahead and post it in case anyone finds it useful.
"First thing is first, mulligan aggressively for weapons, and don't play armorsmith down in the early game unless you have a way to get rid of a cleric if they play one. Don't get overwhelmed by how many cards they end up with in their hand in the early game, they will have to waste a lot of resources in the late game to deal with your bigger threats. Don't waste your executes/shield slams as you will need those late game. If you think that mind control or shadow word death plus a sylvannis is possible, always take into consideration if there is a way for you to remove your minion if they take it (the same goes for mind control). Don't be afraid to play an unenraged grommash and swing to the face if you are in a good spot because a 4/9 is hard for them to deal with. Use your acolytes as early as possible, and after they hit 6 mana try to bait cabal shadow priests with less than desirable minions, like unstable ghouls or cruel taskmasters. A lot of times the game goes to fatigue, so if they play a cleric out late game with less than 10 cards left in deck then it is not always wrong to let them keep it out and keep drawing from it as they will then go into fatigue quicker than you."
I will be happy to give tips on how to play against priest from the perspective of any control deck, but unfortunately I don't play agro decks unless I happen to use one in a tournament so I won't be much help there.
Priest is a class, which should without doubt be nerfed in the near future. The amount of board clears, and game-changing cards they have is insane.
Got a board set up? Wild Pyromancer will take care of that.
Got another one? No problem, there you have a Holy Nova.
Another one? Ah here's one more of Holy Nova.
One more? No problem! Here's a Soulpriest and a Circle of Healing.
Oh you so you got minions again on the board... let's use one more Circle of Healing.
Alright, so you managed to get a minion out again. Let's steal that one with Cabal.
Wops, now you put out a minion with a deathrattle, I'll just MC that for the turn, to kill your big minion and still get your Deathrattle Effect. Thank you.
Did you manage to survive this long? Here, taste my lategame legendaries such as Ysera, Cairne, Sylvanas and Ragnaros.
Trying to set up a large minion to deal with my Legendaries? Here's a Shadow Word: Death.

Stupid, overpowered class which should be removed from the game. Unfortunately I can't play it myself and faceroll through the ladder, because I don't have the cards. It requires to open the wallet quite a bit.
To all you priests, I dislike you. Learn to play the game with a proper class.
all 100% valid.
but since every other class is better, remove all other classes first.
no classes please, they all beat me because i am bad.

use your damn imaginations and grow up bro
Hahaha I just lost against a bot. ;(
No hovering over cards, exactly the same time interval between every play.
How can a bot be legendary? OP much ;D
Sorry then.

I don't think zoo players have the right to complain about anything
Huhu priest so tough, you should drop your class and try something new. Faceroller.
How come?
Also out of my three decks that I've continuously listed myself as playing, how come you specifically decided to pick out Zoo?
Atleast I play a variety of things, you stupid faceroller priest.

Control priests make use of Wild Pyromancer + Power Word: Shield + Holy Smite + Holy Nova and Auchenai Soulpriest + Circle of Healing combos to clear the board and take your cards & minions with Cabal Shadow Priest, Shadow Madness, Sylvanas Windrunner, Thoughtsteal, and Mind Control. This type of priest deck is very reactive. They often do nothing for the first 3-4 turns (besides healing and thoughstealing), then start clearing the board from turn 4-5 and take control of the board from then on. Try playing minions with deathrattles or divine shield (like Nerubian Egg, Haunted Creeper, Argent Squire..) early and strategically place Defender of Argus to prevent full board wipes with Holy Nova or Auchenai Soulpriest + Circle of Healing. Past turn 6, try to lure out Cabal Shadow Priests with weak low drop minions. You do not want your Harvest Golem, Nerubian Egg, or buffed-up Argent Squire get stolen. Understanding when to trade or hitting the face is the key for the late game.
