Ultimately the ladder has been completely infested, it's like a spreading plague. Innervation from blizzard is needed, in the form of nerfs, and much faster than usual.
It just doesn't work that well, unless you play highlander priest, in my experience. Mana cost too high, stats too weak, so you can only afford to run 1, which means likelihood of you drawing it in time is too low. Even when played on turn 6, it doesn't swing the game hard enough to scare jade druids off the ladder. For a couple of days everyone and his dog was running geist, then they realised it didn't work so well in anything but ultra slow control, dropped it, and jade druids are more rampant than ever.

I'm using a control Priest deck with SG and doing quite fine. I've enough synergy plays in my deck that the slightly tepid value of SG against decks other than Jade Druid is not a fatal problem. I completely agree that the need for SG to exist is a failure in game design by Blizzard. But part of the problem right now is so much of the community is relying on netdecks that they aren't coming up with interesting decks. Your reaction is a perfect example. You are complaining about SG because there's only one netdeck that you think its workable in.
Turns out Ultimate Infestation is a pretty good card! Jade Druid is much more focused on tempo now than ever before. They don't need a big Gadgetzan turn to refill their hand, they just have to play one card. The new Druid Death Knight also helps Druid go on the offensive or the defensive really well, something Jade likes. All of this means that even if you do get Skulking Geist off, you probably just lost anyway from the tempo suicide you just committed. We need an actual nerf if Blizzard wants to stop another expansion cycle of Jade Druid.

I did say 'ultra slow control decks' ..Ii accept there may be more decks geist fits in, highlander priest is the only one I've had success with so far. The point is, the counter card blizzard hyped up as being the !answer! to jade idol, hasn't been remotely enough - it fits in niche decks that were already pretty weak to jade druid. Meanwhile they buffed jade druid through the roof with new cards. There is nothing on ladder to intimidate them and reduce the numbers, except maybe murloc-aggro paladin. I can't see any new deck developing that will do anything to dent it's power.

I see you in every goshdarn druid complain-thread on the site. Does the salt thread not work anymore, or what?
Is druid annoying to play agains? yes. is it unbeatable? Lord no.
Some people use geist and think it's a great counter
Some people think it's garbage and demand a jade druid nerf

Good prediction, locked. I don't think we got this many duplicates for a single topic even when Pirate Warrior rose to power with Gadgetzan...maybe I just ignored all those threads.
