I apologize in advance because this is going to be a long post, so if you don't have the time, it's fine you can skip it :) but before you do that here's a quick summary of what I'll be talking about:
So this post's main goal is to see what the community would recommend me, a F2P player, to craft as Legendaries. First, I will reveal what Legendaries I have from each standard set. Second, I'm going to discuss what decks I usually play and/or like to play. And Third, I will reveal how much dust I have and ways to get more dust.
Your opinion is valuable even if you don't read the whole post so make sure to leave a comment below :)
Note: Although missing Epics is usually relevant when you see missing Legendaries (because they're somewhat as rare), I will not be discussing them because it would be a long list and they cost 4 times less than Legendaries so crafting a few shouldn't be a problem.
ABOUT ME
So I'm a F2P player that started playing hearthstone around 2 years ago and hence I don't have all the Legendaries out there. I don't play a lot on ladder strictly because I don't like being beaten by people that just have better cards. Which is why I shifted to Arena a long time ago and really enjoy playing that game mode. I'm currently on EU but I also started in NA and created another EU account just so I could play more Arena. Usually I use these accounts to relieve my salt. Meaning if I get salty, I just retire the run without worry or just craft a deck and even if it's good, retire it right away.
Without counting these salt moments, I usually average 5-wins in arena and have achieved about 6 12-wins in my life (Keep in mind I don't play this game everyday). Hence, I consider myself a good arena player that knows how to play most of the classes in Arena.
MY LEGENDARIES AND EPICS
As mentioned previously, I'm a F2P player and don't own every card in all the sets. I consider myself rather unlucky in card openings but oh well :p
I'm going to only discuss standard as I don't feel it's worth it to craft wild Legendaries at the moment.
As you saw previously, I have a lot of cards missing especially in the classic set and I missed all the important Legendaries in the Gadgetzan set.
As far as I can recall, here are the decks that I did really well with and reached up to rank 12 with:
Big Druid (before Wild/Standard became a thing, Toast had a Big Druid meme deck that was the best deck I had since all the Legendaries I have are just big bodies)
Discardlock (Since Clutchmother Zavas was a thing, I had a lot of success with this deck early on in the Meta and even after Quest Rogue became dominant and I would argue that Quest Rogue is a favorable match-up for this deck)
Evolve Shaman (It's a cheap top tier deck! The only thing I was missing was Patches the Pirate for the aggro version and Aya Blackpaw for the slow version.. I ended up playing the aggro version without the Pirate package)
Other decks that I have tried but didn't have that much success with:
Hemet, Jungle Hunter Mage (Kripp's version! It won me a few games but wasn't that consistent)
Handlock (Without Leeroy Jenkins but with Reckless Rocketeer as a replacement... This deck did not get super high win rates because of a lack of another win condition which was Lord Jaraxxus)
As you can see, I only played decks with high win rates when I had most of the cards required for that deck.
I really like to play Paladin but this class requires tons of Legendaries. Second favorite class is Priest.
DUST
I currently have around 12,000 dust.
As you've seen, I have 2 golden Legendaries and wild Legendaries. I am usually conservative with golden cards because I love having them. The only golden card I disenchanted was a golden The Beast (because I was never going to play it) to craft Dr. Boom.
I am willing to disenchant both golden Legendaries and a few Wild Legendaries if needed.
Final Thoughts
I want to have fun, yet still be able to climb the ladder so I don't really want to craft ALL must have classic Legendaries.
Here's a list of Legendaries I was thinking of crafting but you can add your own:
So what do you think I should prioritize crafting? Are there any cards that even will shifting metas will never be useless or lose their place? What would fit in most archetypes? What Legendaries make up the funnest decks to play? Remember I don't really play ladder so I would like to ease my way in! Each opinion is important!
Final Reminders/Notes:
- I would rather craft Legendaries from new sets rather than old sets. Classic sets are an exception since it won't get rotated out but I would really want to experience this new expansion. - Remember my dust limit and it would be nice if I had some left over - Maybe getting 1 value card for example, between The Lich King and Elise the Trailblazer, is better (but arguably, one is instant value while the other is not) - Favorite classes are Paladin and Priest - Maybe looking at Legendaries that compliment the ones I already have would be a way to judge
I'm pretty sure there are other similar cases out there, so by helping me, you'd be (hopefully) helping lots of other F2P players!
If you like big EZ druid Lich King is a great large minion that is in many decks right now and for the foreseeable future. (except face decks obviously)
However I recommend you craft Aya Blackpaw, she is another great option to help with your evolve shaman and will let you play a competitive jade druid list, which is the best ladder deck right now.
Woah thanks a lot! I didn't except someone to read the whole post!
That's a great point! I guess The Lich King would be valuable in that deck and would be fun to play. Do you think I should craft Aya Blackpaw over Patches the Pirate for my evolve Shaman?
I might want to craft the Shaman Hero so maybe a slower deck with Aya Blackpaw would be a good fit.
As a f2p, I would focus more on this year's expansion of legendaries since you will be able to use them for much longer if you're thinking long term(I'm sure you know this already). Can't go wrong with Edwin Vancleef if you want to play miracle rogue. Even though Jaraxxus is so cool, the new warlock death knight seems like a much better option. Good luck with your decisions!
Hi! I'm also a F2P but I have many, many legendaries (including the entire Karazhan set) but I wanted to ask, what are your tips for saving dust? Would you dust WoToG legendaries when they rotate to get new ones?
I'll wait a week to see what the meta decides is good, then I'll start dusting the lesser used WoToG legendaries I have to get some sick Un'goro or FTh legendaries!

Hey man! Thanks a lot for the feedback!
I always wanted to try rogue and it feels I have all the pieces but Vancleef so I might give it a go!
And thanks for the feedback on Jaraxxus! I always wondered which is the better pick because they both do 2 completely different things!
Do you guys feel Kazakus style decks are worth it?
Yeah I still think Aya is the best bang for your buck
