More than 20% of the cards will see competetive play. 90% of your comments are not competetive tho. Horrible thoughts of most of you guys, like how old are you? Probably 12. So funny. Some guys have clear argumentation and are open minded. Its as always, most human beings on this planet are dumb and retarded. They lack something, educational wise or social.
I already regret reacting to this but i couldnt prevent myself. just calm the fuck down and open your packs and have fun. Future wil show. Its a game btw. You guys act like its a severe topic in life.
And btw: go to hell with cocaine addicted junkiewhores like Kibler or other blizzard servants. USE YOUR BRAIN. WHAT DO YOU THINK? stop getting influenced so much.
Answers like this are just non-helping discussions-threads at all... It is just another form of whining about a community. This guy was just telling his concerns about the new expansion. Being critical about a free2play game where you can spend infinite money on needs to be criticized on and on. Analysing your vocabulary (humans be retards, calm the f*** down etc.) shows that you are just another hater in the community.
You guys should take a look at MTG. The number of cards used in the meta is even less. In my opinion, a good expansion in HS could be determined by how long does the meta take to settle ( better as long as it takes), and by how many new decks spawn out of it. Toast is entitles to his opinion, but if 20% of the cards are playable, I think is ok.
Just looking at HSreplay for Ungoro cards sorted by deck winrate. I came up with about 35 cards that were played at least 250,000 times in decks that had at least a 50% winrate.
That is 26% of all cards in Ungoro. If I included some of the lesser played cards with positive winrates I could probably get up to around 40%.
Just doing a quick glance over previous expansion 20 to 25 percent of cards looked to be "meta" cards. TGT seemed to be around 10% (ouch on that one).
So the amount of cards played frequently enough to be in the meta probably will be around 20 percent so Toast prediction isn't too far off base. I hope for closer to 25% like Ungoro but to be higher than that is wishful thinking.
Now doesn't that mean cards that don't fall into that narrow category are garbage. Those lesser played cards with positive deck winrates are perfectly good cards in almost meta decks that can still be fun to play.
On my count there are only ~22 cards in this expansion that will be mainstays in meta decks during their stay in standard. Also there are less meta changing cards in this expansion than Un'Goro.
what he said though its mostly the truth..... i play this game from the beginning and from the most part i can recognize an impactfull card. this expansion has pretty strong cards but its not like ungoro..... the first expansion of the new year is always amazing with lots of staples but the expansions which follow are always mediocre.....
just think this if every card was amazing and playable f2p players can never keep up with this.....
lol I was so confused because I couldn't figure out which hs expansion mtg was. It was close to tgt so I got confused. Thought I would share my derp moment. Hi all the magic players out there!
Toast sounds like he invented the wheel, but that's actually a general rule of every expansion. From constructed perspective only 20-25% of cards are playable. Higher diversity of cards can be seen only in the arena.
In MTG the percentage will be even drastically lower, I would say that it can't go beyond 10%.

I really hate posts like these. People arent satisfied unless every single card is gamebusting and OP OP OP. Trump said himself that after review his review 76 cards were one star. Yes, in what we call the best expansion in Hearthstone history had 76 1 star unplayable trash/meme cards. This expansion is nothing new. I for one am hopehuo about all the new cards that are coming and am really looking forward to expiriment and experiencing a changed meta
So about 30 cards will affect the meta. Sounds about right for every other expansion to date. I could have probably said that before seeing one card revealed.
Also, there is Wild and some of these cards are viable in wild but not standard. Wild is way more control-based than standard and this expansion is heavy on the control cards. Priest looks scary as hell in wild with their DK, but probably won't be good in standard (no idea, of course).
I am actually hoping that there are few meta-defining cards in this set since I don't save up any significant amount of gold and I only buy new packs through Arena runs.
The fewer meta-defining cards, the easier it will be to "catch up" to the new set.
I've said it before and I'll say it again: Most players are gonna stick with their Pirate Warriors, Mages and Token/Jade Druids for a long time, don't expect some new archetypes showing up miraculously on day 1. It's gonna take at least 1½ months before some streamer comes up with something half decent, but Pirates and token lists aren't going anywhere. I really doubt that new 4/6 Gheist thingie is gonna drive away Jade Druids by itself, so there goes Control dream as well.
I can't imagine how much time you loosed using this "½" in your comment instead of "half a ", which i myself only copy pasted from you
I haven't watched a lot of streams recently but I can agree with the fear of them that nothing changes, because kotft doesn't offer a way to counter early game pressure by tempo( correct me if I'm wrong or missed anything) and with aggro or murloc pala, the current Mage builds pirate warrior and aggro token Druid it's not a lot of fun to try some new cards. I like the design of the dk's but against these decks the 5 armour and the "little" battlecry effects just seem to slow. Don't really know why they printed some more viable lifesteal cards instead of the deathrattle in your opponents turn, which came out of nothing for no reason, or maybe the 5/2 buffs tempo decks even more?! I hope to find my fun with the new cards in wild but am a bit disappointed too.
I think Paladin is the wild card, that some people miss. Control Paladin with Corpsetaker, and 1 mana 1/1 taunt might just crush Pirate warrior.
Also Druid has a 2 mana 1/5 taunt that can beat aggro pretty well. Still has to be seen but i think we can agree that pirate warrior didnt get a single upgrade in this whole set so it wont get stronger at least.

Either way you look at it, it's an expensive hobby. In Australia it costs $80 in iTunes for 50 packs. Only 20% of these are of use.

Don't forget there are a lot of cards great for wild but meh in standard.
~40 cards from any expac can be expected to be constructed playable in some form or another. Even less tier 1 viable.
This isn't really a radical take.
Good job that Toast, like most streamers, is an attention whore, who just says wild things to make bank then.
People who refuses to play aggro out of principle are even worse than people who play exclusively aggro.
One should seek to become a complete player and play all archetypes, including ones that he despises for whatever irrational reasons.

Wow, so 20% of the cards will see play and could be "meta-changing"? Sounds like a great expansion to me
More than 80% of pre-expansion analysis from streamers is also garbage.
Free to try and find a game, dealing cards for sorrow, cards for pain.

Just have to pick who you listen to. For me I have found Kibler to be a much better gauge of what to expect.
