Has anyone given thought to this? If blizzard spent resources creating a Frost Lich Medivh or an Arthas of the Ebon Blade, they would have told us about it by now to hype the expansion. They didn't bother changing Liadrin's tokens even though a few people complained about it so I doubt they would start adding these kinds of reduce-jarringness features now. This is really unfortunate because it will devalue the existing skins and the newly released paladin skin, Arthas. People use skins because they look cool and changing into someone else in the middle of the battle without explanation really isn't
There might be a new mulligan meta thanks to this too. People playing with skins will probably be less likely to have a death knight in the deck
Anyway, this doesn't affect myself so I'm not really complaining (I only use skins for Mage but I don't have cards to support a slow mage). I just wanted to put it out there so others can contemplate the implications
Edit: It's not quite the same as playing previous 'hero' cards. Jaraxxus is a demon summoned by the warlock hero to aid them, which is what warlocks do. Then Jaraxxus betrays the warlock and kills/replaces them instead. This makes perfect sense lore and logic wise. The same thing probably happens when you summon Ragnaros
Well everybody will have to look at the hero cards as they look at Jaraxxus
That's not quite the same though. Jaraxxus is a demon summoned by the warlock hero to aid them, which is what warlocks do. Then Jaraxxus betrays the warlock and kills/replaces them instead. This makes perfect sense lore and logic wise
Useless discussion. We have had hero changing cards before, and people didn't complain then. It is not worth is to make one for each new hero, since that is actually more work than making the basic hero.
For new heroes, there is source material to use as reference. For the deathknight version, a whole new art concept would required, basically more than double the work than if they only make the basic heroes into deathknights.
It's more work, so what? It does make the game feel better and should have been Blizzard worth the effort.
I'm okay with at is. This version is at least future proof. Imagine if they release new skins for heroes, which would require going back to make those card playable, for the wild lovers.
This would hold true for future hero cards, if they explore this route again.
I don't think it's super unreasonable they make DKs for the alternate heroes. I mean, they had to make new artworks for double Choose One transform effects when Fandral was introduced. Sure, that only implied three new artworks and this would require nine, but I think the case is pretty similar.

I see what TSMS is saying, and I personally agree (it would feel better when playing alternate skins), however, I can also see as to why it might be a hassle for Blizzard employees. It's not just extra work for the artists, but also the voice actors and coders.
And, what with Blizzard being a "small indie company", it may be difficult for them to waste what little money they have on alternate deathknight skins.
For a game as big as hearthstone, not seeing some more skins for the dk is ridicolous. The concept is already there, it would have taken a bunch of hours for an artist to design
Well it is no problem for Dk Thrall killing the murloc shaman hero and taken the herospace? I see no problem with it since there can always be a story to be told. DK Jaina killing medivh or khadgar and taken over as the hero - come on people use your imagination.
Let's say you play Hunter DK as a Mage. What hero you should become? Jaina, Medivh (if you play with this skin), Rexxar, Alleria (if opponent plays with this skin)?
If you steal Hero Card should it change skin, and if not why it should change skin at the beginning of the game?
Let's say you play Frost Lich Jaina, but now it's Frost Lich Medivh. It makes no sense. Dk Hero ability is connected to Jaina, she summons Water Elementals, and a whole card is designed based on her.
You guys can't see any obvious problems. The way Blizzard did it seems optimal.

I mean sure Dk Thrall could kill a murloc, but Jaina wouldn't stand a chance against Medivh.

I think if you wanna go that route, you can just try to think that death knights are just that all-powerful. Kinda like tv shows where bad guys are always op op to start. But then eventually the power of friendship and whatnot prevails.
Inb4 next expansion's hero cards are powered by friendship in 2v2 games. Hype is real! kappa

For decks with death knights in I will change back, but not most decks.

Would love for them to offer alternatives tbh. It's not like Hunters will even be using theirs since it's slower than a turtle in tar creeper's poop.
I couldn't care less.
If they' take the time to make DK counterparts for all (future) skins, I'd rather have it they'd use it to make completely new skins

I think we will see skins change. Why get Arthas as paladin hero if not?

Im probably the only one but i find exactly that pretty cool.
Its nice to switch from liadrin mid game back to uther again and adds a little bit of variety to it.

It is not awkward, DK Hero cards aren't upgrades for current Hero, they are replacements.
If you play as Medivh a Jaina DK card, simply imagine it that DK Jaina came and said to Mediv to fuck off, and then nos she is in charge.
