I really can't justify this set being as impactful as anything we've had in the last year. Like this feels like its between TGT and WOTOG on the pack rating scale (like if you said TGT was like a 2 and wotog was like 4-5 this is like a 3-4 where ungoro was like a 9)
The amount of sheer "do something weird or negligible" effects are just getting out of hand and some of the card quality is just so hard to absorb. Like mage released ALL of its cards already and when i look at it, nothing seems to really just blow me away. even 8 mana make a 15 mana play seems kind of meh without a body attached to it.
Not to mention none of the DK Heros seem to really bully your opponents which would feel like something they should do for being 9 mana cards. like hunters and shamans for 5 and 6 mana seem like the only truly playable ones. Even rogues is kind of like... can i get there? and then you look at mage and priest where they are obviously good effects but neither really just dominates your opponent for their cost.
I feel like there are maybe 5 really strong cards right now 10-15 okay cards and the rest are meh or unplayable in constructed.
which feels like tgt all over again (totem golem, wrymrest, mysterious challenger, justicar, etc for strong cards)(living roots, arcane blast, bash, etc for pretty good)
^god i had a hard time just pulling some good cards from TGT its such a bad set loool
Yeah, it's underwhelming and quite frankly pretty dull. Least hype expansion ever for me. Not to mention all the fucking RNG, I had some hopes we where getting beyond that shit. But nope, Blizzards idea of fun is still a clown fiesta.

just pulling up ungoro, every class has something good honestly. or at least something to build decks around. I feel like this set really doesn't have that. I like cards to build interesting types of decks with that are new, not just insert a few cards into the current meta which feels like this is whats happening.
I agree with your statemetents about the expansion, but i dont recall many rng effect in this expansion in perticular, mabye a few of the priest cards, can you pls tell me to what you are reffering to
why do people always make stupid threads like this? is the expansion released yet? no? then we can't answer your dumb question. why don't you wait until a month after release and then re-visit?
I believe you aren't seeing the full picture of the set, there are great potential in many cards, give it a months and you will see many new amazing decks competing with the current ones from Un Goro

I didn't mention any rng cards, when i say weird or negligble i'm talking summon 2 1/2 poisonous spiders or ice breaker in shaman or runeforge in rogue. hell devour mind in priest when we also get a copy their deck with a legendary card. It's just like some of these cards aren't needed or their effects are already slotted somewhere else. like the +2 cost for spell cards as a neutral is interesting, but I don't really see it getting played ever because they printed the kill 1 drop spells card.
Please stop trying to kill the hype for others until you've atleast tried out the cards.
The first expansion of the year should be the most impactful since other sets rotate out.
agreeable, but We shouldn't get through mage's cards and be like oooop, guess you're not getting something deck defining. It just seems like its adding more pieces to archtypes like secret, quest, and freeze effects. it didn't really introduce a new type of play style. If anything now its just going to be more control to get to DK jaina.
I kinda regret pre-ordering, I hope you and I are wrong :[
idk when the last day to preorder is, but if i can still get them monday after full release stream i may wait until then just because i'm not 100% sure. i've dumped a ton of cash into this game but i'm really concerned if i'll even enjoy playing this set or how long it will take me get bored of it(usually I play the first month and maybe the first bit of the second month of an expansion but i might be bored of this set after 2 weeks...)

I mean this just seems to be their style. The only reason Un'goro was so crazy was because it was the start of a new rotation. But basically once a period of time has been defined by certain decks, they will always make sure to release more support for those decks even if they aren't that great. I'm sure many players would rather go back to a true Zoo or Handlock deck but they muddy the waters some trying to make discardlock work still because it was a major theme in Un'goro. They probably will print more cards next expansion that do the same as well until Un'goro rotates out. Look at Dragon priest for example: They stopped pushing Dragon Priest as an archetype now that Blackrock Mountain has rotated out. It still works, but it isn't like they're constantly releasing powerful priest only dragon archetype cards anymore.
You came to the conclusion a tad prematurely m8. There are still 30+ cards to be revealed, including the Lich King, and three other death knights. So far, it's been super promising, actually, maybe you're underestimating the power and combo potential of some of the cards.
I really think Frost Lich Jaina is a deck-defining card. Other than that, I unfortunately agree with you as far as meta-breaking decks go. Hadronox Druid will be a thing too, but I must admit it'll be too slow until we have a..... control meta! *gasp* (which is never the case)
I think there will be a surge of Death Knight Mage, Kazakus Priest, Control Warrior, midrangey/tempo rogues, and Ramp Druid slapped onto our current meta.
I actually think this set more heavily impacts Wild, which is really strange. Warlock's egg poppers, Paladin's divine shield synergies, and maybe enough tools to make a decent control hunter.
There's plenty of great cards, classes and neutrals are all looking to be interesting this set. Maybe this meta will see something besides aggro every other match and bring some freaking variety into the game.
