So I'm a F2P and due to this ragnaros festival currently I'm at 1600 gold.
I was considering saving it for the next expansion.
But I am currently lacking some core cards for the current meta decks.
For mage I would need, 1x Pyroblast, 2x Gylph, 1x Iceblock
For my (not that meta) miracle I need 1x sherazin 1x vilespine
What do you guys think, should I just save it all for the next expansion or spend like, 500 on un goro now?
I'm asking because I believe I made a few suboptimal choices in this game already (decrafting a ton, spending all my gold all the time etc.) so I want to make sure I'm not fucking up again.
I'd save your gold. I've made similar mistakes, but being able to buy a ton of card packs when the new one drops will feel awesome. You'll be able to catch up a little, plus for all the extras from those packs that you dust youlll be able to craft some that you're missing.
My advice is, whether you spend all the gold on the next expansion or on Ungoro, don't buy them until Knights of the frozen throne comes out. With the release of the next expansion, the pack openings will change and you'll be guaranteed not to get the same legendary again. For a F2P player that's huge imho.
Save it. When the next expansion comes out, you'll get only legendaries you don't own already. Then you can spend your gold on whatever packs you want. I'll be getting some Un'goro packs as well as KFT.
Even if you wish to buy some Un'goro packs you should still open them after the release of the next expansion because the pack opening changes will take place after the release. Also, you might not want to play these decks or these cards in the decks that you want to now. There might be better cards to put into your decks from the new set.
So, I will suggest you to save the gold.
I know it's hard to save gold. Early on, I also wasted a lot of gold and dust and in December I disenchanted almost all my Legendaries and Epics to make Jade Druid(but no regrets!). But you just have to bear a month. Also you can start playing a lot of Arena after 10-15 days if you get bored because people will stop playing Arena just before the release of next expansion and it gets really easy. My Arena average is around 3.5. But, just before release of Un'Goro my Arena average was over 7 wins! Arena provides a change from the usual.
Yep, just save. I'm sitting on 3500 gold at the moment, and aside from a few arena runs here and there, I'll wait for KFT to buy packs. I started to save a month after KFT release. You miss some cards atm, but as a f2p player, you won't be pleased with your collection until you have most of the important classic set cards, which took me around a year and a half of HS to get - and I'm still missing some class Legendaries. I actually just crafted both Shield Bash last week and I am enjoying Warrior for the first time

Check out my entry for this week's Card Design Competition. Vote for it if you like it.
You should wait until the next expansion. That's when the 'no duplicate legendaries from pack' patch will hit.

You'll be missing all the gold when the new expansion hits, everybody is playing with new toys and all you have is the old cards.
