120 is definetly not enough, unless you are super lucky. Estimate that there is around ~20 legendaries per expansion and you get 1 legendary in roughly ~40 packs. So if you are super lucky you will get 5-6 legendaries, which means that you are still short 14 legendaries which is 22400 dust only for Legendaries, and there are still some potential rares and epics that you will be missing.
50 from preorder. Another 40 that I am going to buy with the rest of my amazon coins. And so far 7,5k gold. That's around165 packs. And I guess I can reach 10k gold until the expansion hits. And since it's the Lich King I don't think I can resist to buy more =)
And is it enough to have good collection and be able to play quite a few decks that u want?
Depends. If you already have a good collection, yes you will. Otherwise 120 packs in not netting you enough dust for that end, as you'll still need to craft cards from previous sets to complete those decks. Hearthstone is an expensive game.
I opened about 150cards and spent 14000 dust and I'm still missing 8 legendaries from ungoro.
That said I was able to save 8500gold since then. if you can save at least 10000 gold from expansion to expansion id say you need another 90-110 packs for around a total of 200+/- is what I do. If they don't release 25+ legendaries 200 Peck's more then enough.
But even then buying 90-110 packs 3 times a year. pretty expensive game.
Around 50 packs with gold is my sweet spot. I'm interested in getting all of the commons and most of the rares, I'll then craft a few epics and legendaries.
2. Yeah, should be enough to get a couple of legendaries, epics and the vast majority of rares and commons. It will not be enough for the whole set of course, but you will be able to make most of the meta strong decks with the packs and dust of multipliers.
50 via preorder. Maybe 20 more with saved up gold. That was enough for me to hit rank 5 from the get-go. I don't think it's all that efficient to buy 100+ on day 1. Keep in mind, you'll get reward packs for playing arena throughout the season. There may be some free packs doled out, too. You'd be adding a lot of duplicates throughout the year at that rate.
Depends on what this game is to you, though. I treat each expansion like a AAA title: $50 bucks seems reasonable. I get a lot of enjoyment out of gradually building my collection and testing out new cards as I find them, so getting everything I want on day 1 sort of kills it for me. But I guess if you're just looking to jump in and grind out legend, buying more makes sense.
I used to by the stand alone adventures, they were a great value for the money. An entire meta defining set for 20 bucks.
Now each class has 2 legendaries, 4 epics and there are many neutral epics and legendaries. I can grind gold for say 100-120 packs for each expansion, and I will stop there. Completing the collection, or even just getting all the good cards for the decks I would like to play is no longer possible without spending significant cash.
I really liked the old model, 40 bucks a year and I pretty much had any card I wanted. Now I have to severely limit my choices and spending 40 bucks a year would hardly make a difference.
I imagine that Blizzard made these changes to increase revenue on their game, but in my case, it is going to cause them to lose revenue.
I feel like nobody remembers that there will be no duplicate legendaries, and one guaranteed in your first 10 packs. You also will no longer open more than 2 of the same card in a pack iirc. This will make the pack-opening experience wayyy better.
120 packs is probably ~4 legendaries at least now, all unique.
Personally I think buying 50 packs and maybe having enough for 10-15 when expansion starts is enough to make a few decks and fill out others. I think it's a great start. I usually get 40 in the first week or two then another 40 a few weeks after that. Then I play enough to where I open packs with the gold I get etc.
I was intrested to ask u guys two questions.
1. How many packs u use to buy per expansion?
2. What do u think, is something around 100-120 packs enough?
I buy none. I just safe 3k gold and then i buy them one by one. Why would I use real money for rng game?
I usually take 100 packs per expansion and nothing more untill the next one.
For what profit is it to a man, if he gains the world and loses his own soul?

1. None. I'm an infinite arena player

Cohesion and coherence mean nothing to you guys.

I buy only around 15 with all gold.
I am not a Mage player, just thought my avatar would go with my name.
