Hi everyone, I would like to shere this theory: Tbw my Warcraft knowledge is not very vast so I got this theory from the artworks they have showed us already:
-Firstly (www.thefrozenthrone.com) From the official expansion website Check the animated background with the 9 classes. As you can see, Gul'dan stays appart from the other 8.
-Secondly (https://youtu.be/DgaBjPyMtXo?t=182) From the announcement video. In the time point 3:02 you can see the 9 classes before fading in black, leaving a trace of their shiny eyes. However, yet again, Gul´dan differs from the others by leaving no trace.
I think this is not coincidental. Now add the fact that Gul´dan is already considered an antagonist for most of the good guys. Him as a Dead knight doesnt add much to his dark character. So what if it is the opposite. What if his Hero Card makes him a good guy and push the healing habilities of the class. Why healing? From the artworks you can notice that the dk version of Gul´dan has one bat wing, which leads to vampirism and lifesteal. Maybe lifesteal is what will push the comeback of the, right now missing, control Warlock. He may have a card that makes the lifesteal to heal all allies or something like that idk Well this is my theory. Tell me what ya think. Thanks for reading
I think it's more likely that he stands apart because no one likes him. On a personal level.
I think becoming a Death Knight will only make him more evil, not good. The kind of magic that makes you a Death Knight doesn't lend itself to rainbows and puppy-hugging.
That is a really cool theory. I've been hoping for some sort of discard deathknight but your idea has merit. It would explain why we have seen almost no lifesteal.
Gul'Dan was a vampire in the comic wasn't him? That must indicate something about life gain, maybe lifesteal of some kind with the hero power? I don't know what they could do but if healing is coming to Warlock it may be just what they need.
I would too but it would be far too slow at 10 mana. You would almost certainly discard the death knight too. Perhaps attach the discard part to the hero battlecry like Frost Lich Jaina has instead so that you could still get a legit hero power that does something.
EDIT: I just realized that the warlock DK was revealed to be 10 mana so there's not much of a choice in that...

How do know it's 10 mana?
The French Jaina leak showed the mana cost.
I hope it summons all of the discarded minions for that cost.

I hope you are wrong, cause that card wont even see play in discard deck, unless it has "can't be discarded" written all over it, which I doubt.

Don't read too much into that. Valeera had nothing to do with weapons and Andiun didn't summon a fancy shadow thing, and they looked obvious.
It IS a 10 mana card. When Jaina was leaked, the costs of the DK warlock and paladin heroes were also leaked (10 mana and 9 respectively). Jaina's leak was real, so the costs are real too.

Really cool theory!
My 2 cents.

So weird, I made a post last night hoping for this. I hadn't seen yours. I REALLY hope that is the way they go with this.
Gul'Dan was a vampire in the comic wasn't him? That must indicate something about life gain, maybe lifesteal of some kind with the hero power? I don't know what they could do but if healing is coming to Warlock it may be just what they need.
Guldan's death kinght version, most likely is tied with the terrible discard mechanic, if the leaks are true, that is.
Release the Kraken!
"Discover a discarded card" would be ideal.
"Unless you do your best, the day will come when, tired and hungry, you will halt just short of the goal you were ordered to reach." - Patton
Still runs into the problem of "what if you discard Gul'dan?"
I mean, he does have a scythe.
Perhaps make that a weapon when the hero card is played (maybe) ?
3 cost (if needed), 3/1 weapon that says: Cannot lose durability. Lifesteal.
His hero power is spirit lash except better.
2 mana, Deal 1 damage to all enemy minions, Lifesteal.
Oh yeah, his text: Summon all minions that you discarded this game, if they have a battlecry, put a copy of it to your hand. Cannot be Discarded.
8 mana?
I put the extra battlecry part so if you discarded (ex. Lord Jaraxxus) you can get it back in your hand.
That is all, bye!

We'll see, hopefully it's not a 10 cost card.
Pretty sure all the other DKs will be revealed on August, 7.
The final live stream.
(5/9) DKs have been revealed so far.

It could give Lifesteal to your spells or something like that making Defile BROKEN or letting you survive a felfire potion
It IS a 10 mana card. When Jaina was leaked, the costs of the DK warlock and paladin heroes were also leaked (10 mana and 9 respectively). Jaina's leak was real, so the costs are real too.
