i was looking to buy un'goro packs (missed the prepurchase) and i normally use amazon coins but ive seen people say that it is no longer worth it. From what i understood if you were to buy 5000 amazon coins to get 40 packs ($49.99), you would be charged 4999 coins+tax meaning you need extra coins to cover the tax. Is this true because although it would be cheaper than buying directly from blizzard, I dont really want to spend an extra $5 on amazon coins to cover the taxes. Can someone please clarify?!!?
They are totally worth it. I spent $84 yesterday (bought 10k coins 2x 40 packs). If I had bought from Blizzard, it would've costed me $100.
To avoid paying tax (extra coins), just change your default address to any Oregon State address, and then you won't have to pay tax anymore :)
You can actually see this in the Hearthstone app itself when making the purchase. Install Amazon Underground, install Hearthstone via that (Amazon Apps), go into shop, click buy 40 packs, it'll open a small window (Amazon Underground App) and give you two options, either spend $50 or use 4999 coins. IF you don't have Oregon state address, it will say 4999 + 350 coins required. Once you change your default address to Oregon state, repeat the procedure, and while making the purchase, it will just show you 4999 coins required :)
Well, when i purchased something for HS, i never used amazon. If you are looking for a price drop and do not care for anything else, sure go for it. I like my privacy and if you actually read what amazon underground does, than you basically give up all privacy you have for that cheaper price. Nothing is for free and i rather not support amazon.
What kind of privacy issue? Can you elaborate or link me to a good read? :)
Nonetheless, in my Amazon US account, the only thing real is my credit card :P
Amazon coins used to be a lot better. They were constantly sold at 20% off face value, there were frequent deals that refunded coins when you spent them on Hearthstone cards, and Amazon didn't charge tax on digital purchases.
These days, they're worth it sometimes for some players.
It's very common to be able to get Itunes store credit for about 15% off face value. Amazon sometimes goes to 20% off on the $100 increment. And they gave 500 coins as a refund during the preorder period for the Un'Goro set.
Right this minute, $100 worth of coins costs $83, so it's about the same as iTunes.
That 12% savings for 10k coins is kinda small, just last week it was 20%. I'd wait for Amazon Prime day on July 10th to see if they have any promotions such as bigger discounts or getting coins back after spending them.
I'd say to go for it. Amazon Coins are a great way of building a deck. Even if the promotion isn't as much as it was earlier, it's still a good one and REALLY start giving you a leg up.
Amazon Coins are definitely worth using, especially since you most of the time you can end up getting a really good deal. Since Amazon Coins are a $1 = 1 Coin ratio, you end up with way more than what you paid for. If you're gonna spend money, Amazon Coins are the way to go. Below are links with all of the info.

Edit: Use this to generate a Real US Address (select state as Oregon).

Edit II: By the way, I did this on my Android Phone along with TunnelBear app (VPN) :)
