This post relates less to specific individual cards and more to the general design theme of the new cards.
Blizzard now seems to design new cards based on the deck archetypes created during the early phase of the game after release. For example miracle rogue, freeze mage and zoolock have all received their fair share of cards which seem designed specifically to support those deck archetypes. With the introduction of newer cards we've also seen the creation of quests, tribes and jades the inclusion of which largely dictate the deck choice in their respective decks.
My question is - should Blizz take such an active role in designing decks? Deck design should be a large part of the "skill" in the game (although I concede that net-decking largely removes this) however the Blizzards strategy of rotating old cards and adding new ones to the same archetypes leads to very similar decks season after season. Alternatively neck decks are created around "tribes" which remove a great deal of deck design decisions. Consider the Jade decks and you see that they basically include all Jade cards + standard cards.
My own thoughts are that Blizz should not actively support current archetypes (and in fact do the opposite to encourage diversity) and leave the deck building to the players. Furthermore, OTK are either OK or they are not. If they're not OK new cards should not enable them (as the mage quest does).
(Mods - please add this to a similar thread if one exist - I couldn't find one)
p.s please don't just link this to the salty thread and close the post- it adds nothing to the discussion and it's not all about the salt!
