I don't understand why some of you feel you should be compensated every time something goes wrong. Things happen. Deal with it and be patient. Always trying to get a freebie out of everything seems so petty.
Because some of us have spent decent sized chunks of money on this game and expect it to be available when we want to play. We are paying them for a service they are not providing when stuff like this happens and should be compensated. When I can't watch TV Dish Network happily knocks 10 or 20 bucks off my bill when I call in. Blizzard should be no different. I get that some things are beyond their control but at the same time that's not my problem. I'm paying them and I expect to be able to play when I want to play and if that doesn't happen then I expect to be compensated for the hassle. A few packs is the least they can do.

I very much agree, i am a person paid in this game before so it is only fair that they give us something in return for the servers breakdown, hell, i could make a pack during the time. You do not make such a huge mistake on Sunday and getaway so easily.

That's not at all how it works.
You gonna support that with a counter-argument or just throw down an unsubstantiated opinion?

I think it's in Blizzard's best interest to actually give people something this time , even if something small as a pack or 2 would make a huge difference in the way people percep their game, and make people more willingly to spend money again in the future .
It's not like they lose anything by compensating players with a 1-3 packs and the good perception of players might be well worth it , especially since this is not the first time something like this happens .

So how does it work then? Should I just roll over hand them my money and expect nothing in return?

Hearthstone is a $400 million/year game.HS even lacks some basic features like winrate showing, importing decks, replays, etc even though being the top in its industry. The cost of HS both in time and money is quite high in comparison with other AAA games. Other games in the same category/industry do give "petty" freebies when this happens, hell Overwatch does this. If people don't raise their voices, I don't think Blizzard will do anything. We still don't have the simplest of features like auto squelch. It took blizzard 2 years to gives people more deck slots. Blizzard claims that some features are too complex for the player base and has a cost of $400(on average) to complete an expansion collection. These are just a few reasons in breif, and this is why I support the community to be more demanding.
I usually don't complain about this kind of stuff because yeah, stuff happens. Nothing we can do about it.
But, this time, it's starting to get to me. I just wanted to play on the one day I have a few hours free before I pack up and head to the library for the day. The amount of time this game spends offline given its simplicity is astonishing to me.

Stop giving them your money.
But you won't. You'll complain on the forums instead.

I've most likely spent way more than you on Hearthstone. I'm just not a spoiled child looking for handouts when something goes wrong. How does that make you feel?

I thought it was just me. Thank God it isn't.

My mandibles which are capable of pressing down and tearing, my talons which are known to intercept and hold.
5 free Un'Goro packs for everyone. That is how Blizzard can make this Easter Sunday debacle right.
