I am currently sitting on 11,000 dust without the cards to make what the meta is determining to be a competitive deck. I know that it might sound silly especially after all of the hype of UnGoro, but I feel like for a lot of players who want to play competitively, there is a "dead" zone right after the release of an expansion where everything is simultaneously viable against versions of some archetypes and still weak against others. I know it won't take long, but Hearthstone is my main game that I play and it's just hard to wait for the meta to work itself out. Anybody else feel like they're sitting on their hands after a large expansion like this?
I agree. Have recently been getting back into playing seriously. Have yet to make any strong progress, but I am waiting for a clearly defined meta before I use my little dust on a new deck.
In my case as well, I've played almost 80% priest throughout my hearthstone experience, so I would like to start main-ing a new class. Luckily it seems like other classes are more powerful at the moment.
I used some of the dust to make an elemental deck but between the refund for the HoF cards and stuff I have yet to dust I probably have around 9k dust that's waiting to be given life. Just waiting to see how the meta shakes up because I REALLY want to try quest druid
I'm in same boat with a bunch of dust waiting. Problem with this expansion is that most legendaries are class specific (with quests and all) so there's are less neutral "safe crafts". I went ahead and crafted taunt quest and the 4/8 dragons because the dragons are neutral but I'm already regretting the quest, because it's boring. It's sorta good but prettttty boring.
I have about 10,000 dust awaiting for good legendaries to craft. I have a list of legendaries that I want to craft, but I'm not crafting them all at once, depending on the meta progress.
Slowly, once per week, I craft the one on top of the list as it belongs to the deck that I really want to play and I have some confidence that it will have viability in the meta.
The nerfs you're expecting will probably only be one, and it won't be worth disenchanting the Rogue Quest still.
Honestly, waiting on the meta to settle is a good idea, just don't expect that to be too soon. Tempostorm is even waiting on their early snapshot still because there is so much variance of what is winning right now. Quest Rogue can be insane, Miracle Priest is actually a thing that works, Quest Warrior and Pirate Warrior both doing well, and streamers have shown that other decks can beat all of these still. You really might be waiting for a settled meta for a few more weeks.
I dropped 4800 on Finja, the Flying Star, Leeroy Jenkins, and Edwin VanCleef. Each fits in at least three different decks in both wild and standard so I have no regrets. Still floating another 3200 until the dust settles and hoping whatever deck emerges doesn't require more than two legends I don't have lol.
Half considering Wickerflame Burnbristle and Raza the Chained just because I know I'm never buying enough Gadgetzan packs again to get another legend from that set and it'd be nice to be more or less done with it.
wow I could never wait watch everyone playing the new cards, knowing that I could craft them also and have fun but keeping it back just to wait for any day to be sure about the meta... I mean everyone can kind of figure out which cards will see play and which not after some days already..
yea i just wait too.Waiting on rank 5 since day one because i dont have deck i want to climb right now.Trying some fun decks with old cards and checking every decklist pros play. Dreamhack will say lot too if you play tournaments but its so far away :D 28.4 . Patience friends.
I sort of am doing so. Even if I already spent quite the amount of dust to create Elemental decks core rare/epic cards, but that is because I pulled Kalimos, Primal Lord from a pack and you can create Elemental decks for every class. (Actually really enjoying Handbuff Elemental Paladin) And the Rogue Quest, cause that was the only card I missed to play the deck and could get nerfed, so it's sort of a leasing.
Sitting on 2600 dust+ Golden The Voraxx . I really want to wait to see if someone manages to exploit it in the meta before dusting. I'm tempted to go for Warrior/Mage Quest too, but I'd really love to play more exciting decks if possible.

Remember playing Control Shaman with Reincarnate shenanigans? No? It was fun, here's a refresher!
I've spent some dust to craft the cards I think will be mostly used like warrior and rogue quests, Kalimos, a few epics I didn't get from packs etc. I think we still need like 1-2 weeks until meta settles. I haven't disenchanted any Hall of Fame and Wild legendaries yet though, I don't play it too often, but I just can't see some of them go (Sylv, Rag :,-(). If I need more cards, I'll probably d/e some of them.

I crafted the quest immediately and haven't been able to make it work, so you are probably better off
Yeah, I have 15k dust after crafting a golden Mage Quest and two golden Primordial Glyphs. Those were the only cards I was willing to craft as I want them no matter what the meta turns into. And yes, I'm also sitting on my hands waiting to see what to do with the rest of my dust. Also on my wife's account, she has 21k dust as she doesn't play wild. But she also opened 5 legendaries in 60 packs, so she's already having fun trying out new stuff.
Same here, sitting on a pile of 5k Gold and 10k Dust, only opened 8 Un'Goro packs (the ones Blizzard so graciously gave for free). Despite opening to not-so-shitty Legendaries (new Elise & Kalimos) I'm still not convinced spending anything on Un'Goro packs. Not until we're at least 1½ months in.
Okay I get saving up the dust, but the gold? Really? I've played since Naxx/GvG and this is EASILY the most fun an expansion has been (Old Gods was kinda fun too). Right now, you're missing out on a crazy fun meta with interesting decks. Not to mention, these cards will be around LONGER than other future expansions since it was an April release.
I have 12.5k dust saved up but barely any gold and no regrets whatsoever. Spend it and have fun; if you wait until the meta settles, you might end up being miserable. Look at Mean Streets -- worst meta in the history of Hearthstone.
Long story short, play now because it won't get more entertaining than it is now and these cards are they are arguably the most valuable in that they will last the longest in standard of the 3 sets this year.
I waited until the weekend had passed to use the remaining dust that I had saved after opening packs and crafting the cards I knew I'd want no matter what, and even now I wish I'd waited longer. It's really difficult to wait on spending dust when such an exciting new expansion has just released and completely shaken up the stagnation that was the past year of Hearthstone.
I'd say look for one or two decks that you think you could use with the least amount of dust required and use those to stay competitive while earning gold for packs and ranking on ladder.
There are a few cards that I would say will be staples in standard decks until they rotate out, some of which are Spiritsinger Umbra for deathrattle decks, King Mosh for control warriors, and (I hate to say this, because it's the most obnoxiously unchallenging quest out there for the biggest payoff, relatively speaking, and is quickly becoming the meta darling) The Caverns Belowfor rogue.
Best of luck!

I'm just waiting for the first nerfs to drop. I'm saving as many Un'goro cards as I can.

sounds weird to be honest.

I avoid that situation by investing in the classes i prefer: Rogue, Druid, Paladin. At least one always has a viable archetype.
That way i need less dust to be competitive, and i can even afford some miscraft.
I crafted a new huntard and zoolock, still waiting for meya to settle to spend the 5k of dust
I sort of am doing so.

only thing i crafted was the shaman elemental shaman. The elemental tribe kind of takes the place of the tempo dragons.
