At the beginning of the rotation, the set is the smallest. Unlike Old Gods, which had a single mechanic spread across basically all of the classes, we have 9 different mechanics, so everything feels narrower.
The problem I'm struggling with is what direction to go. I'm not having much fun because I have literally no competitive decks. The legendaries I got are in classes that have slow decks, which are being absolutely massacred by Quest Rogue and Quest Warrior. The only playable decks I have are a Control Shaman of my own design, a Purify Priest that works shockingly well. But both are golden heroes so I don't really want to play them on ladder right now.
I think what's frustrating is that too many of the quest mechanics are completely out of my control. My opponent plays a quest, ok, but now what? All of them involve my opponent just doing things that I can't prevent. PLay a deathrattle. Well you either play it or you don't so .... what is there for me to do?
I can only speak for myself, but I'm having more fun than I've had in a long time playing hearthstone. It feels really refreshing with all the quests making decks possible that would never have been played otherwise.
I think it's mostly that complicated decks have emerged. I'm completely in love with the quest mage for instance, even though it's clearly not top tier.
if i can say - i never thought, that the meta will truly slow down with the rotation and with the un'goro expansion, but i imagined how people will experiment with cards more, how i will see, at least in the first days, the different quests and just more diversity - we got tons of anti-aggro cards after all, many taunts and unconventional legendaries (like hemet), that can lead to new decks beyond our imagination
i didn't participate in constructed until the rotation, just to be in the lower ranks and not to see any tryharders
but sadly that wasn't the case. *the first deck, that i played against, was the rogue quest one, but i had the feeling, that the person didn't come up with the deck build on their own, but rather that they have found it on the internet. Because all worked too consistently and because of the fact, that the next games were pretty much the same. I saw other decks as well, but they weren't that impressive and tbh it all got repetitive pretty fast.
for me the first weeks of WotoG were the most interesting experience for me - some of the tempo decks were left behind in wild, there were some nerfs too + "f*ck yeah, i want to make a deck with the old gods", but now i don't feel hyped about the quest decks, they don't see that thrilling to me
*Note: i play in the EU(= delay with opening the packs) and i think, that people have gathered some experience from the NA players, so they knew what were the strongest decks before the expansion was released.
I can finally play paladin again so for me the game is pretty fun atm. Sadly the diversity in decks I face are not that great, rogue, warrior, hunter and then sometimes the rest of the pack..
I had fun playing an elemental based quest rogue yesterday. However it got boring pretty fast. It feels somewhat disgusting to complete the quest and from that point the opponent can't do much if they have no board or counter pressure. Fun quest for a while but a really bad design Imo.
I still haven't faced anyone playing the druid quest or the paladin quest.
Im having a blast with quest mage, feels really great but tbh most of the quest are...bad?What the fuck you're supposed to do with druid/warlock/paladin quest.
And I feel like it's one of the most expensive expansions so far, to try out quest deck you NEED to have legendary and speaking of legendaries I got none of my 38 packs xD
Nope, it is a lot of fun, play vs many different decks with my own creations.
The fun will be over after two weeks, the meta decks will be refined, the braindead netdeckers will Copy&Paste them and we have fun again in the next expasion, enjoy for now.
I'm not having fun. This meta is basically the same as MSG where you have 3 types of decks that counter each other and queuing up is a big rock paper scissors game. Except now the matchups are even more polarized. Nobody likes to lose before the game has even begun
Did you think Jade druid was bad? Half of the decks out there right now are worse and more restrictive of what you can and can't play
The reason I think this meta is great is that it actually has a lot of space to experiment with. Almost no build arounds except quests, most of which are strong but counterable and not unbeatable.
Idk what you're talking about! The quests are more viable than expected and there are amazing anti-aggro cards, that, along with MSG ones, can counter aggro decently while still beating Jade. Quests are awesome and the new meta is shaping up to be great!

Totally this! I'm having a blast! I've been trying out that new quest Rogue and - despite what people say - it's not that OP, since it gets heavily countered by aggro. Unless PW returns, it'll be okay ;)
Well, I crafted the Warrior Quest last night. Played it maybe 15 times. Already bored of it. It's probably a fine deck. But, it's not engaging my imagination. I don't feel like there is much 'building space' left to explore. The deck basically builds itself.
It's probably just a 'me' problem. I'm very happy you are enjoying the game! Don't let me bring you down. I love Hearthstone, just not getting the enjoyment I used to is all.
That's exactly what i feel too. Although i don't have any of the quests yet, i get my opinion from the games, when i face other people playing those cards. And some will say, that the decks are not refined yet, but when i played against quest warriors, the games were straight up boring. I don't mean, that they were long, but rather that there was no development. When i faced CW before, both of us had to make strong decisions. My opponent - how to use the removals more efficiently, me - how to dodge them. Now i have the feeling, that they just put taunts and wait to get their reward. I'm not complaining that the deck is OP, because i even think it's not. But it's so inconsistent - imo the taunts are slowing them and they have a hard time getting those removals. For me plantlock is also a shallow version of control - it's not handlock, that deck is way better. Plantlock imo is just "I have overstated minions and a sunfury protector/ defender of argus", that means you just put minions on the board and taunt them. And because that's almost 50% of your deck (check trump's version) you will mostly follow a straightforward tactic = it's not flexible like the traditional handlock or renolock. The proactive approach comes way too late from the giants, possibly the abyssals, jaraxxus.
Pros: - more archetypes outside the already known ones. - new ways to play - For the first weeks, it will be the normal dafuq decks i'm seeing
Cons: - They limit deckbuilding (you have to build around them) a bit. Quests hype is high right now. - Too much dafuq decks (norma until meta stabilizes)
I like it how it is right now. Although some decks are obviously rising, older archetypes are still playable
I like the fact there is less randomness, which made Rag and Windrunner such a pain in the ass to deal with.
People worried about Pirate Warrior need to relax. They are easier to counter now and I wouldn't be surprised to see them fade a bit.
And Quest Rogue is not the OP shit some of you are making it out to be. I'm personally having fun with it but the taunts from Warrior counters it and Hunter can out pace it.

Decks like the broken BS questrogue have me this close to quitting this game forever.
same here

I've no clue what I'm doing...
2 days into the expansion and im already having nightmares.
Standard has been absolute garbage for me so i already switched to wild.
It's true that quests have pros and cons:
Pros:
- more archetypes outside the already known ones.
- new ways to play
- For the first weeks, it will be the normal dafuq decks i'm seeing
Cons:
- They limit deckbuilding (you have to build around them) a bit. Quests hype is high right now.
- Too much dafuq decks (norma until meta stabilizes)

I'm at rank 8 and playing against the 5th pirate warrior in a row so.........
I like the fact there is less randomness, which made Rag and Windrunner such a pain in the ass to deal with.

I love netdecking and winning on turn 5, with at least a 75% win rate. Otherwise, it's not fun.

Hving great fun with my Unite The Murlocs deck and Awesome Jade Elemental shaman deck.
Then I mix it up and play my Control priest with Shadow Visions and Elise just missing Lyra.
Then got even crazier and made N'Zoth Kazakus Control Priest which is super fun just missing quest.
