Could Hearthstone support a Trading Card System, where players were able to exchange cards from within their collections. For example If I had a Golden Nozdormu and was looking to trade if for a normal Lord Jaraxxus While Jaraxxus would be seen as a better card in this case (legendary-tier-crafting-guide) one could argue that you could simply dust the Golden Noz and earn your Jaraxxus back for free.
Would this benefit the game, or hinder it? Would people create more Alt accounts to purchase more Starter Packs, earning Blizzard more cash? Or would it lead to an inflation of Legendaries within the game, where everyone is able to reach closer to a full collection, thus hurting Blizzards sales?
I imagine more valued cards, or ones seen as OP would be more "expensive" and worth more in trades. Would the cost of crafting the card ensure stability in this new player based economy?
A friend and I were discussing this topic, and we couldn't come to a conclusion. Thoughts would be appreciated!
Oh I'm sure they would exploit it, but the only way I see it as possible is by making Alt accounts. Buying more starter packs, and trading the guaranteed legendary to themselves for a magma rager or some equally bad card. And while thats great and all for the player, Blizzard still earns money off the back of it. So its not completely scamaz worthy.
At the same time, the starter pack is only for the classic set, so you couldn't do the same with the new expansions. However for all the arena players out there who already own several alt accounts now your arena rewards actually mean something and you can trade them back to your main account.
Again, you'd still have to be a good player in order to pull off, so it rewards skill in some fashion at the expense of a few bucks (from Blizzard's perspective)
I agree, I don't think it would ever be supported either. Though I'm not sure just how much an impact it would have on Blizzard. Maybe it would hurt for all the players already abusing Arena, but playing Arena encourages deck building and skill. And not everyone would be willing to put in the hassle to make multiple accounts. I think the effect here would be marginal at best.

I think Hearthstone isn't the kind of game that would really benefit from being a trading card game. I'm assuming when you say trading card system, there would be no more dusting and stuff. The dust system gives players easier access to cards while giving Blizzard more money at the same time. Making cards more rare would suck a lot for everyone in the community cause you couldn't explore cards to their maximum potential and then it would be even more of a pay to win game.
Also, it would be exploited because players only need to go through the tutorials and the initial gold gathering quests to get enough money to get enough dust to craft the card they want on their main. There really isn't a way to stop the exploiting and not having it be pay to win at the same time.

Oh no I fully meant that dust would still be an option, but I imagine the Trade system would mean less people disenchanted their cards. For example If I had 2 copies of the same legendary, normally I would dust one for +400. However, with a Trade system I could potentially replace it with a Legendary from someone else collection, normally a 1600 dust value. Of course, they would likely need to be on your friend's list. Im thinking like how Valve handles their player based trading on Steam.
what blizzard should do is a trading card system where you have to trade X dust for X dust (from different IP address). like if i had a golden legendary you would have to give me a legendary and 4 epics. so blizzard is not losing anything but people can get the cards they want and both accounts would have to spend an equal amount to give back to each other.
The only problem I could see with this system i that you or your friend could make alt account crack packs and wait till you get cards you want from those packs but that takes a lot of time and effort for something so random. Because you would have to have a different IP address and go threw the whole tutorial each time, your basically forcing people to spend hours on alt accounts to only open classic packs/ new expansion packs and hoping for something insane. which I don't think a lot of people would do.
This is the ONLY way i could see a TCS working in hearthstone.
I think it could be fun with a special economy for hearthstone. If you make it so that you can trade as you please as suggested in the post, I do not have any doubt that it would be abused heavily and lower hearthstone´s revenue.
Personally, I would suggest a "market place" (so you cannot trade directly with your friends). Instead, when you dust or craft your cards, they will regulate a market such that dust prices will vary for specific cards, depending on how many people dust or craft them.
I do however believe that the majority of the hearthstone community would hate that idea.
I make a free account and trade all the cards I get from the free packs to my main account, rinse and repeat.
This is an old topic. Blizzard will not add trading to the game unless it's 1-for-1, and even then it probably won't ever happen.
Thanks for the response, I knew it would be broken, but i just hadn't figured out how yet. I'll probably use your response to answer my friend who mentioned it firstly to me.
There would most likely be a huge megathread about it, and people could constantly trade with other people for Legendaries they need, which can effectively give you any Legendary for absolutely 0 dust or pack openings. Although maybe a bit far-fetched, you could technically have every Legendary in the game with this feature, with some compromises to make of course. Also, if you open a second copy of a Legendary (or a third copy of a non-Legendary I suppose, but you get my point), they could easily just give it so someone who doesn't have it and they'll lose absolutely nothing.

Overconfidence is a slow and insidious killer
People would exploit this to no end.
It would totally hurt blizzord's wallet. So no
If you have a golden Nozdormu, DE it yourself to get that Lord Jaraxxus ;)

This would very easily be abusable.
