I'll confess, I too was disappointed when no new cards were revealed, but I really don't think it was that bad. (Of course, I have indeed witnessed the anti-miracle that the Guac commercial was, so my standards are considerably low xD) So what, the guy said "Hello children" to a mainly adult viewership? Are we seriously trying to pretend that HS is even an M-rated game?
In comparison to the other commercials (yes, the ones where we take this inside), this one at least merges with the lore, rather than just portraying us players as awkward beings who can't interact normally (which I for a fact, actually am). The acting was alright, it did squeeze out a chuckle from me with Eddie's short interventions, and it actually might be telling us a bit that we don't know yet (the plants, probably).
So... what gives? Is it really worth it to downvote the video? (And no, I'd rather not have the excuse that Blizzard hasn't been satisfying their customers recently. I mean, I would agree to an extent, but that is no excuse to hate on a video completely unrelated to it)

Start of Year: Provoke the failure of 3 expansions, force nerfs on otherwise balanced cards, bring deckbuilding to an all-time low and get rotated one year earlier for being such a threat to the game's health. - Genn and Baku's historical entry on the White Book of Shit Design, shortly before retiring unpunished
I think it really was the lack of reveal that got the majority of down votes.
I understand they want to drag this out a bit. Three weeks before April and the release date can still fluctuate. However revealing basically the art of what is a token from another card is a bit to slow for my taste. I say give us the quest or reward fully and hold the other part till later. Then we would have something to talk about, theory craft or what have you.
Otherwise I like the skit. Fun way to reveal card. Well 1/4 of a card really. People are excited for change or just new stuff. I know the 17th will give more but flashy reveals like this are only cool when they reveal something.
I really didn't enjoy the video. My friends and I loved the Guac boy ad and it's kin a lot because even though they weren't good they were at least ridiculous enough to be funny. Although, this ad satisfied nothing. We were all begging for new content and all we got was the name, the art, the class and Mana cost. A name and a face are pretty and all, but much like the character introduced it lacks story, lore, strength, weight, or any real reason for us to care. I hope this isn't a trend, I'm looking forward to this expansion. I just wish they could actually give us anything to chew on, mull over or discuss, instead of confirming that "paladin is getting a class legendary, like every other class is".
Also it feels like the worst kind of tease to get this information. It would've been much cooler to get the card text, stats and pictures but keep the rest a secret to at least let us theorize about things. "It's a rogue card!" "No, it's gonna be for mage, it would be so broken on rogue" etc, etc.
I'm remarkably indifferent to the commercial. It's okay and I think it's odd that Paladin's are getting a beast card but other than that it's pretty okay.
Okay, I can understand the disappointment. Like I said, I am also disappointed by the lack of reveals, but still, I can't say I am angry enough to claim I didn't like the video. I guess my reaction was a shrug. Not negative, not positive, but a shrug.

I do not know what people were expecting because Blizzard did say we would get card reveals on March 17th. Although I admit I wish we did not have to wait so long for new cards to be revealed in general. As for the video, I thought it was fine.
I don't get it either. The ''take it inside'' commercial was way worse yet it didn't really get that much attention. I guess the ''hello children'' really triggered the supposedly adult viewers which is ironic in itself. I usually hate emotes but the twitch baby rage one fits so perfectly to this situation.
In general it's just another situation that you just have to shrug it off to the internet being filled with toxic people. I see the same thing happening in all kind of entertainment and forums, be it TV shows, Movies, Games, Anime, etc some people just like to hate on their hobby, they can't admit to themselves that they can't stop doing said hobby so they just keep self hating.
My problem with these kinds of commercials is, that they just don't fit Hearthstone stylistically and I would much rather have a video narrated by Elise or another character in the Warcraft style universe, just like the Trailers. I don't care about some random reallife dude who tries to sell me something in a cringy way.
Danny Pudi is not a "random reallife dude". He is great. I recommend you "The community" to know a bit more about how he works. He is fucking great and a great choice for the commercial.
Just... he is not "random", has been carefully chosen, looks obvious to me.
I though that video was OK. I think the problem was that nobody was expecting a video like that and because of that it has caused people to react differently to it.
Sure it fits nicely within the lore, but at the same time I don't believe Blizzard will be spending lots of money to make this ads, so they will be very limited with what they can do, especially knowing the expansion is about dinosaurs.
Then there is the fact we are not get a list of cards reveals, only just one (and even that wasn't a full reveal), which of course is going to get people to down vote it because they just want to know what the cards are.
However on a side note I will add that this is a lot better than the 'Bring it inside' ads. So I do like what they are trying to do, but I feel it's not going to have the effect that they were hoping for.

My Entry for this week's Card Design Competition - Season 8.16:
Many people got tilted by the "Hello children", some got really offended by that, those guys took it way too personal. Others may disliked the live action style and/or the silly humour of the commercial.
But I think what people hated the most was the tease, (the fact they showed an incomplete card) even though many of the people complaining already knew that Blizzard said 2 weeks ago the card reveals will start this friday. I think there would have been less rage thrown at the video if it was uploaded after March 17th, not before.
PS: The recent announcement of the pack price increase for Europe it's a cause too.

These all sound like pretty dumb reasons to downvote something... however it's pretty ironic that people are getting butthurt over the "Hello children" part, since that just strikes me as people needing to grow up.
Personally I thought the ad was fine, HS has never tried to be serious so a silly commercial shouldn't surprise anyone. The partial card reveal also appears to be having the effect they wanted of driving everyone crazy for Friday's announcement. :P
Then again, I actually thought the "Take this inside" commercials were hilarious (the fact they were horrible was what made them hilarious, like B-movies). The resulting memes were delicious.

no cards announced, what were you expecting. Upped the price of packs, for no reason. Hello children? it is offensive and whoever typed that line should be fired
The current state of the game along with the recent unpopular decisions Blizzard has made recently has eroded the trust and goodwill from a lot of players. As a result everything Blizzard does will be seen through this lens of dissatisfaction. Every disappointment will be more disappointing. If something isn't good then it's automatically terrible. At this point Blizzard needs to be on the ball and Ungoro needs to be EXCEPTIONAL for a lot of people to start giving Blizzard the benefit of the doubt again and chilling out.
I assuming Ben Brode wasn't involved in this video as his rap career has recently taken. He'll be back soon once it wears him down. You know... when his knees are weak, palms are sweaty, there's vomit on his sweater already, Mechanical Yeti
I'm not sure, but I remember there being something about Doyle being a children's TV show host lorewise. I'm pretty certain that's why he said "Hello Children" at the beginning, but I may be wrong on this.

I can tell the Paladin quest will be too slow for the meta aready. Even its introduction clip make us feel "too slow" lolz

People triggered by "hello children" are children.
