Read your post. More archetypes, class focused expansions, bigger adventures, monthly card releases. Nice, wonderful...but will count for nothing if initial card design fails, organizes imbalances, cater into aggressiveness, by which I mean we will seeing more of the same in a different way. I doubt then it will do any good as then your ideas - how thoughtful - will only be cosmetic..
My point remain to adapt design philosophy to a situation where board play enhances a better game experience by curbing burn, burst and charger damage. If future expansions will produce more of these cards nothing will really change as that means major changes, which I don't see Brode and consort be doing.
Well when I say more archetypes, I mean archetypes that play differently, not the same something I actually mentioned in my post. Having bigger class focus will make it more likely things feel different and it will avoid stuff like STB, which is likely to push less aggression. Its not like Blizzard can create aggro cards for every class (or at least I think that that is unlikely). Monthly card releases could favor struggling archetypes (whichever one it may be).
Of course all my thoughts can only be effective when there is goodwill and real desire from the devs to support different archetypes and new ways to play. If you think aggro will ever disappear from the game then know that that is unlikely to happen. Those decks are favored over all other deck types due to their draw consistency. On top of all that more cards will have to be printed to punish people who misplay (one of the best examples is Molten Giant which would be doing wonders right now), but they don't seem to have come up with anything interesting yet.
They are already curbing burst and charger damage though, and I think that that isn't all that great since it limits OTK decks, which to me are an interesting deck type that provides more variety for the game. I will agree though that the design philosophy needs to change on some things, but I can't agree with your comments on the team. I guess let's agree to disagree on certain things (since I don't think we can convince each other of our own opinions) and to agree that we both want to see some change to the game.
People who dispise wild essentially despise hearthstone. This is what we played for 2 years and we didn't felt the need for a rotating format. Then blizzard decided that they couldn't sell a lot of packs if people kept using good cards so they forced the pro players to play their new format, which also made the community do that.
we were gaming together since kids/the glorious wow days :3
LOL Did anyone else get a kick out of this, referring to playing WoW as if it was an eternity ago? This is not a knock on the OP, as we can't help our age. Just more of a commentary on the relative passage of time and the wisdom it confers. I am sure there are a large number of folks like me that started gaming (digitally) with Ultima Online and "card games" were played with actual cards.
I do not think the game is too simple. Certain decks may be. If your only goal is to hit Legend each month, then yeah, I agree...you're going to have a bad time.

But but i am 26,i am an engineer and a working adult now...I...I..thought i was cool..the cake is lie D:
On serious note we started playing wow a couple of months after its initial launch on eu so me and my friends were 13-14 years old(still kids on my opinion).

I couldn't agree more. Even now Wild is more diversed and more balanced than Standard. Standard was forced upon us for no reason but selling more packs. If I knew that they would remove half of my collection in every two years I wouldn't spend a dime in this game.
I can't stress enough for new players please save yourself from this game before it is too late. As a new player, there is no way you can be competitive in this game without spending crazy amount of money.
Yeah this is far from being f2p. F2p is only possible for people who have played for long time and do well in arena.
Personally Im not f2p I spent around 200$ total since 2014 but I spent only 5$ total last year (buying the intro pack). Most of my spending was the first months spamming arenas to get experience and get rolling.
Do I regret spending 200$ ? Definitly. This game gets worse and worse.. A lot of untapped potential but a lot of inertia from devs side.
But I do understand it from Blizzard's point of view. If they build the game around high skill decks, this will make it harder for new players to get into the game. And well let's be honest at the end of the day this isn't a game, this is business for them. They need to keep attracting new players, because let's face it pros only represent 1-2% of the whole HS community and I believe they are willing to let some pros go to other game as long as they can attract 1000 new players.
But they don't have to build the game around high skill decks. They should just stop making overstated minions and the decks for us.A simple card doesn't have to be a braidead card, expamples:grim patron, wild pyromancer, molten giant(if they bother to make its text accurate) etc. They are all simple to understand cards but allow complex strategies. However they will gradually delete them all and replace them with braindead op shit like drakonid hyperOPperative,0 mana 5/5 taunt and other bullshit cards. They should just print interesting cards with some occasional tribal synergy and let us do the deckmaking ourselves. If something brakes the game nerf it after 4-5 weeks when everything has settled down. What we are asking is not impossible,it's what they were doing before naxx and did with loe.Interesting cards that didn't force feed decks(being braindead just adds salt to injury).
I agreed with you about the braindead cards, i mean 4 mana 7/7 o like you mention 0 mana 5/5. I think the point here is that blizzard isn't even trying to promote the idea of trying to make your own decks. Not sure if is because is too hard for new players or hard to balance. At this current stage I'm so lazy to play ladder because all you will find is pirate warrior and shaman. Same goes for the big tournaments, you'll see all the pros bringing the same decks, so there's no element of surprise.
What you are asking is not impossible but it is very very difficult, hopefully Blizzard will pulled off someday. I watched the APAC Winter qualifiers last week and there was a guy (Lojom) who brought the most unconventional decks and went 5-0 in the first round. You should check his matches...pretty good
I watched a great YouTube video about the state of the game right now and it made some great points. Basically it was about how the game has questions and answers. The questions are far stronger than the answers in almost every case. That means that the big, OP threats are cheap and easy to play and their counters or "answers" are too costly or too situational. It's that simple. Aggro pirate decks have too many unanswerable questions and it's game over by turn 5. The problem is that cards like acidic swamp ooze or Harrison jones are pure shit if played "naked" or if they don't use their battlecry. The you tube guys idea was excellent: why not add text to these cards so if you do NOT use the battlecry then you gain some attack and or health? Or, eater of secrets. That's another extremely useless card unless you happen to go up against a mage or secret paladin. Change the text of the card to make it worth playing in other matchups. You get the idea here. Make the answer cards "smarter" and cheaper.
Then, you must make stronger taunts that cost less. Board clears that are neutral and do enough damage. Healing that doesn't cost an arm and a leg. A way to block battlecries altogether so Reno or Brann combos isn't an automatic win. This is the kind of stuff that would add a LOT of decision making to the game and allow more deck types and customized decks to exist. Hell, even allowing each player to swap out a few cards once you know your opppnents class would do wonders for the game. They really ought to think about this stuff.

Dead but dreaming

I win due to skill and lose due to bad RNG. :D
How is this idiotic thread still happening?
I just miss control warrior and Handlock of old, they were skillful decks that you really had to think your turns out.
