You guys read it, you guys are excited. You huys know now that there will be 3 expansions each year with a total of 390 packs included. Now here's the thing: You were able to save enough gold to actually buy a reasonable amount of packs to get the cards you need, but now with the release of the year of the mammoth, this will be a thing that noone can do anymore (I guess). I think that many people were buying maybe the preorder, the adventures but nothing more but this won't really be a thing anymore as you will most likely only save 3000 gold between each expansion. I just hope that these single player missions will reward you with enough packs or whatever to compensate the time a bit because I don't want to play a game that is p2w
If you already have a good amount of classic cards (common-full, mostly rare-full and the Epics and Legendaries that you need), you should be fine if you play everyday, you can get 2 packs every 3 days (more if you are an arena master). That is 20 packs a month, or 80 packs every 4 months ( the time each expansion should take, 1 year divided by 3), giving you a reasonable amount of cards in each expansion. You'll be fine.
If you grind out your 100G a day, that alone is 12000G per expansion. And that's without the quests, free packs, dust etc. Sounds like if you want to play for free you can, you just have to grind it. Just don't expect to be easily able to get all the content without paying for it.
no, man u can easily save at least 60 gold per day, that allows you to have 60~70 packs every new expansion. You can craft 4~6 epics or 2 legendaries with the dust of duplicates.
Adventures have been around 3000 gold. That's 30 packs on a set. Just because we get 90 extra cards in a year doesn't make it p2p.
ALSO: "That’s not all for the Year of the Mammoth! Before the release of our next expansion, we’ve got a flurry of activity planned to support its launch: Daily login rewards will be available for a limited time— offering dust, gold, and expansion packs—as well as a few other surprises in the weeks before launch to blaze a trail for everything our next expansion has to offer. " - Blizzard
They will most likely give you packs, gold and dust before every expansion now to start the hype train. So f2p is STILL viable. Don't worry :D
I like all the changes they made except removing an adventure.
I loved Adventures. I loved the security of being guaranteed all the cards.
However, as a F2P player I still think I can get enough gold to get all the cards I need via packs and crafting. I'll just miss out on some cool cards that I would have gotten via adventure. That all being said, we will have to see what kind of PvE content is coming. It could be a boon for F2P for all we know.
Long story short, I don't think the sky is falling on F2P. Grind your dailies and you'll still have enough cards/dust to play 95% of the top decks.

Don't think so. Adventure have one benefit: you gain ALL the cards, no matter how bad your luck is. While Expansions doesn't. You can open packs and get multiple Hemet Nesingwary or the equivant of it. Adventure helped these people to get some consistency in their game. Also Adventures also had another benefit: they fit thematically together, even with the smaller cardpool you often had a good start for it.
Sorry, but this shows that standard was only a way to make quick cash and in this year, we don't even get an Adventure, so more $$$ for them (because expansions give them in regular more cash)

Well as the meta has proven you don't actually need tons of legendaries from each expansion. MSoG - only 2 must-have legendaries. 2 legendaries is not that difficult for a F2P every few months.
Ofc when it comes to new player experience, I agree it is bad. Before it was easy to direct a new player to an adventure because you knew what they would get. So yeah for new player experience it is bad but overall f2p experience. I don't think it's so much worse that "rip f2p".

This. Also I would be shocked if Blizzard hadn't considered the F2P player experience while discussing this design change. And if the daily logins are any indication I expect Blizzard will do things in the future to keep them supported. Ignoring F2P is an objectively bad choice, so it's doubtful they'd do it intentionally.

Yeah while Blizz seems greedy F2P players are important to them since they enlarge the playerbase and keep the game alive and theres always possibility some will spend money in future.
Besides they wrote that the PvE content that will be added with each expansion will be free, it will most likely had free cards for completing them similiar to what they did with Karazhan but on larger scale and as viable as WotOG freebies. Lets just wait and see if total rewards will be good enough.
if you want to save gold stop playing the arena, it's that easy.
Depends how good you are in arena, by playing more arena the better you get at it and the more rewards per gold you earn on average.
Arena is gambling, generally people lose a lot more than they earn in gambling. Vast majority of players aren't gonna be great in the arena.
That's why I said the more you play the better you will get and turn the odds in your favour like I did.
Smart people can make a living out of gambling once they know where the edges lie and beat the 'vast majority'.
As long as you get 3 or more wins, you should be playing arena regularly. The average return in gold is 50+ once you reach 3 wins, meaning you pay 100 gold for your pack. Any extra wins you get will be a bonus. I'm playing tons of arena, and the worst I do is 2 wins if I am un a really unlucky streak. Maybe I'm better than average (I think I average 5-6 wins), but saying that people shouldn't play arena is bad advice imo.
3 wins is what you get on average, and the pay-out of three wins on average, is worth the 150 gold.
On topic: This won't hurt me. 3000 gold for an adventure or for an expansion is similar. Only thing is I'll be missing a few of the legendaries/epics from the expansion, but I think the extra bonuses blizzard is offering upon launch will make up for it + the free dust we're getting from the nerfs & rotation of wild cards + the cool content they say they are going to release for the 2nd and 3rd expansion will make more than up for it IMO. Looking forward to the year of the Mammoth (and I'm completing f2p)
Not sure what others are saying, but I doubt it. I'm sure you'll get packs from the single player modes and they are implementing daily rewards. I think they are well aware that they shouldn't make the economy too rich.

Its still a big scam.
PvE AddOn: pay for the Wings.. GET THE CARDS 130 Card AddOn: you need at least 150 packs + gold to get 80-90%
So do you really think that they will give you 100 packs to come close to it? I pref to pay 20€ and then use the gold to buy the packs from the last AddOn for another 4 month. Now... EVERY 4 month I have to buy 150 packs right from the start... THIS IS INSANE!

Should you craft/disenchant (Golden) Sylvanas or Ragnaros?

This is assuming you WANT packs from the current expansions
