Hey, i uninstalled hs shortly after old gods came out, and subsequently lost my hearthpwn account, although i can still search it up. So can anyone tell me whats happened since old gods? i just reinstalled today.
Shaman and Warrior got many strong cards in the last few expansions. Midrange decks have mostly fallen out of the meta (with the exception of Dragon Priest and Midrange Shaman). Most decks are either aggressive decks with the new Pirates or hyper defensive Reno decks. Although that might change with the upcoming nerfs to Spirit Claws and Small Time Buccaneer. Paladin and Hunter are currently not seeing much play.
There has also been a lot more communication from Blizzard lately regarding balance and arena and ranked changes. There was also a leak last weak about the next expansion, Secrets of Un'goro. Un'goro was a zone from WoW that would probably bring us lots of dinosaurs, beasts, etc.
When the next expansion comes it will mean the year of the Kraken will end so we will have a new set rotation that will eliminate BRM, TGT and LoE from the card pool, thus bringing a huge upheaval in the meta game.
Happily there are a couple of nerfs happening at the end of the month that will tone them down a little bit.
The Karazhan expansion you missed wasn't great, not a lot of must-have cards in there compared to say LoE, so buy it when you can but you'll be fine without it for a while. Gadgetzan expansion shook things up, the vast majority of decks being played are either running the pirate package(Small Time Buccaneer + Patches) or Reno Lock/Mage, so many games feel pretty samey. Honestly, it's not a great time to be getting back into Hearthstone, but you can have some fun messing around with the cards you missed. When the next expansion launches(leaked to be Secrets of Un'Goro Crater) BRM, TGT and LoE are all being removed from Standard format so the game will change pretty radically and hopefully become more diverse again.

Check out my fun and innovative decks here:
Beat your opponent to a pulp with Revenant Warrior or outlast them with Demon Reno Warlock.
Shamans. Shamans happened.
