There are different types of players, some are very competitive and care about ranked mode, they will dust everything they have to craft a tier 1 competitive deck for the current meta. The other type is card hoarders and funky deck players. I belong to the latter, I have most of the cards I need, so I don't play to earn gold anymore. I am that player who crafted Beneath the Ground and Astral Communion.
It has become increasingly frustrating to play for fun these days. Within last 20 games I queued only in 1 non-meta deck, it was an OTK priest with deathlords. I was playing a N'zoth Burgle Reno Rogue, the deck is bad, but it is fun to play. I am really hoping to see a mode where you can play those decks without getting punished and killed on turn 5.
Fun is functional to that, but there must be a minimum level of effectiveness.
I don't care to play a deck that is purely fun, but not enough effective: it would give me no satisfaction.
And my effectiveness would not improve in an environment with no rewards whatsoever (basically it wouldn't help my collection, which is the source of my effectiveness).
If such a mode did, in fact, attract a wider variety of decks and fewer tryhards, then yes, absolutely.
It might actually make Hearthstone fun again.
Tryhards would play that mode just to make people salty though.
Trolls might, but actual tryhards don't do anything that doesn't gain them ranks or rewards. I'd like to think that there are more tryhards than trolls playing Hearthstone. I'm probably wrong.

Aside from playing for fun, I like to increase my collection, so my answer is no.
Should you craft/disenchant (Golden) Sylvanas or Ragnaros?

There would have to be some sort of alternative reward then.
I play for satisfaction.
