The info on Gold cards is new, but mostly I think this confirms that Blizzard wasn't lying about the stats on rarity drop. It is nice, however, to know that approximately three cards in every two packs won't be a common.
I once pulled a Golden Onyxia and a Golden Gorehowl from the same pack with some other rare (that didn't seem important to me at the time) as well. ( I DE'd the Golden Onyxia for a Leeroy, and still have the Gold Gorehowl.) Can someone calculate what percentage chance that was? I'm thinking that will never happen again. (on a happy note, I let my Four Year Old, click those cards open for me...she was so happy about how excited I got.)
"11359 pack ... The drop chances was found to be C = 70.0 %, R = 21.4 %, E =4.28 %, L = 1.08 %, G.C = 1.47 %, G.R = 1.37 %, G.E = 0.308 % and G.L = 0.111 %"
I'm glad someone put these details, because I can't get to the actual write-up from work. :)
Is it worthwhile to turn my current golden card count into an estimate of # of packs opened? Or do the numbers have such a large breakpoint that it would generate any useful info?
So I bought 15 pack today after work, and the results were ludicrous when compared to these expected values. Two Legends, and one Gold Legend in 15 packs. The best part of knowing these stats is how good it makes you feel to know you got really truly lucky.
I believe the statics should be broken down into : - packs bought with gold. - packs bought by real money.
I sincerely believe it's really not the same thing. Then again that's just me, a person who believes his average dust value per pack is ~50 based on over 200 packs opened.
Move along, nothing to see here :) .

Nice, good sample size. +1 for making it a paper ;)
Nice analysis. Thank you.
Interesting, so if I opened 57 packs how many legendaries should I get?
I love threads like these... Makes me feel so lucky for pulling four Golden Legendary's.
Too bad I don't have luck like that in any other aspect of life >.> lol.

If you open 57 packs and each card has a 1% chance to be a legendary....
57x5 = 285
1% of 285 = 2.85
You should get 2-3 legendaries in your 57 packs
It's 1% of cards pulled, not packs opened.
Legendary is 1% per card or 5% per pack. Generally if you open 20 packs you should get 1 legendary.

Wow I must be really unlucky. I open arena packs only so maybe they're less lucky, :D
Link is dead.
Average dust value sounds good. Someone told me once that it was 100 but I think that was a rough estimate.
