I started playing HS in december 2015, I remember starting with buying mostly Classic packs but also a few (6 - 8?) Grand Tournament packs, not very optimal but okay. If I combine the knowledge I now have of the pity timers for different sets and the Grand Tournament packs probably being taken out of the Shop in like two months with the fact that a lot of interesting cards will be rotating to WIld (and I therefore may play more Wild games than I do now) I was starting to considering buying Grand Tournament packs until I get a Legendary (hopefully Justicar). Also, I wouldn't mind getting a Twilight Guardian : p
How weird/stupid do you think this is, had you already considered letting a set being taken out of the Shop without completing your pity timer cycle may feel like a bit of a waste?
If you have only bought 6-8 GT packs (which didn't contain epic/legendary) then I wouldn't buy them till I got a legendary, which is 32-34 packs away to be guaranteed. If you didn't get an epic from those packs then I would probably buy them till I got an epic since that is only 2-4 packs away guaranteed.

The problem is, I don't remember. I know I once had a confuse and I DE'ed it but I may have also gotten it from a ranked chest.
I know it's 32-34 packs to be guaranteed but I guess we should always look at the expected amount right, with the ever increasing odds after opening a pack without a Legendary that should be like 14/15 packs now?
EDIT: bought 1 pack, contained an epic, the question remains the same.. : p
I'd go for it unless you don't have that much gold. If you're buying those packs with real money then you should totally go for it. I bought 20-30 TGT packs back in November to hit the pity timer (I was also hoping to get Justicar but ended up getting Wilfred Fizzlebang). Still worth it, now I have a decent collection of TGT cards. And since you are planning to play more Wild you will also need a somewhat decent TGT collection and those packs will help you with that.
I am buying mostly Grand Tournament before it rotates out, I still lack some cards like Confessor Paletress, Chillmaw and Nexus Champion Saraad that I'd really like to have as well as some epics.
But I want to have the most cards, I don´t care if they are garbage, I just want to have the most from every set, so I am going to buy them until they rotate or if I can´t manage to get another pity timer activated before they do.
TGT may not be the best expansion, and if you only want "power" cards then maybe you should not buy it, but if you are into creating decks and having tons of cards and that is fun for you by all means keep buying them.
The average card quality of TGT is far lower than other packs you could be getting.
Unless you are doing it for collection/vanity purposes, being 6 packs into the timer isn't really worth it. So you would essentially be purchasing dust on a premium.
Can't say it's worth it. I got a few free tgt packs with that world tournament guess the winner thingy, made a topic asking if buying more was worth it, came to the conclusion buy until i hit a legendary based on some good response.
Ended up buying packs until i hit 40 just to get a useless wilford fingerbang.
Not a single twilight drake, not even a single totem golem. Ended up having to craft them anyway from the dust i got from the 15+ maiden of the lakes and brave archer duplicates.
Yes i got epics to, useless trash like sea rapist and magnataur abba for a class i never play.
I'd say skip it, save up for next expansion and just craft whatever you might need from the set *when* you need the cards in a wild deck
My opinion from a F2P standpoint is unless you're within say 10 packs of going 40 TGT packs without a legendary I'd say it wasn't worth it at all. It's not worth buying packs for the sole purpose of trying to find a specific card like Justicar for instance. Spend your gold elsewhere and craft individual TGT cards if and when you want them.
You should totally buy them if you have any interest in Wild. The average card quality is low but there's still a good amount of playable cards, and buying packs is so much more efficient than crafting cards that even if you only get a handful of decent commons you've made profit.
Buy TGT packs? They were not worth to buy the day they were released, TGTwas like the worst expansion with 11 cards total that were even playable. Currently there are like barely any cards from that expansion that are being played. You can craft them if you want.
Druid- Living roots, mulch (1)
Mage- Arcane blast (1)
Priest - 2 mana 2/4 taunt
Shaman - Totem golem
Neutrals - Twilight Guardian
You dont need anything else from that expansion unless to want to play some gimped uncomentative deck.
How about cards that are playable outside of this meta? Darnassus Aspirant, Druid of the Saber, Bear Trap, King's Elekk, Ram Wrangler, Effigy, Spellslinger, Seal of Champions, the one whose name is none of your business, Flash Heal, Buccaneer, Ancestral Knowledge, Elemental Destruction, Healing Wave, Thunderbluff Valiant, Alexstrasza's Champion, Bash + neutrals, and that was only the cards that have seen competitive play, excluding fun and somewhat usable cards such as Wilfred Fizzlebang, Dreadsteed, Confessor Paletress and Astral Communion.
Your chances of getting those exact cards you want are astronomically low. If you only want those two cards and don't care for the rest of the set, I would say get either of the current big expansions. There are more good legendaries in MSoG than in TGT.
But if you want commons and to fill out most of your set, then you should buy TGT before it becomes dust only.
Thank you for all the replies :) Since posting the thread I bought 2 TGT packs but I came back to my senses now, I will be hoarding further for arena runs and the next expansion.
Most of these cards are simply BAD and were NEVER playable in any competitive deck and will NEVER be competitive even in wild where they will rotate in 2 months. Darnassus Aspirant, Dreadstead, astral communion, Wilfred Fizzlebang ? Seriously? OP is obviously F2P player short on cards and dust, he will never need cards you listed here.
You missed this part:
excluding fun and somewhat usable cards
Other than those most of the cards I listed have seen play in viable decks.

I would put your money else where OP.

Question everything.

It's pretty fucking weird.
Everything that isn't about elephants is irrelephant.

The aesthetics of the expansion was good otherwise the expansion sucked

More than likely worth it to craft specific cards from the set rather than purchasing packs and hoping
