Now i've been playing this game for while and traditionally people said "well played" at the end of the match, sure there were some other emotes use and there is a while different discussion about what those emotes really mean. But recently i got a youtube recommendation with one of those compilations of funny and lucky games and couldn't help but notice that ALL players, some asian, some french and in any language or anywhere on the globe now uses the "greetings" emote when they win the game.
The question is why? I noticed this trend started recently but where? and what's the point? Why is EVERYONE falling in line? Do you think it's clever? Did you see this on some streamer and think if you use the same emotes you're as cool as him? I'm fairly sure you didn't come up with this by yourself, from my point of view you just show everyone that you're a teenage mindless sheep (if it wasn't already obvious from your deck), like the playerbase of this game doesn't already have a bad rep, being impressed by idiotic behavior doesn't help.
Usually, losing because the opponent got really lucky as those in the videos already feels bad, and the greetings emote makes you even more salty. Those people who emote "greetings" think they're funny and they feel good when making their opponents even more salty. It's self-satisfaction.
That's probably because the uploader must have looked for specific instances where the winning player used the greetings emote while delivering lethal.

Oh you poor special snowflake getting offended by the masses, here, take some atention and keep being so uniqe!
Let me dissent and explain.
It is actually the BMs that use emotes this way those who are in need of attention.
Why? Because you can't know the reaction of BM in this game: "satisfaction" comes only from the self perception of it being BM.
It is a purely narcissistic action.
People may get upset for being defeated, but I'm sure very few care for BM actually. Except of those who are BMers themselves. That's why squelch is insufficient: it still feeds the BM.
Who's the special snowflake now? ;)
PS: ofc it's pointless to discuss it in game terms. And ofc it's just as stupid to get upset for BM emotes. Yet I find it interesting from a sociological/psychological point of view.
Idk I have never used the emotes and never pay attention to what my opponent says. I didn't realize word bubbles triggered people.guys it's a card game, if someone is trying to anger you they're most likely wimps who can't deadlift 3 plates.
It's called gloating. No, the trend is not new. Basically it's just the other player's way of letting you know that they have a bad character.
Just saying the use of this particular emote is trendy now, and not only that i see it on my opponents but it's a cross continental thing now, a bit curious how and why it spreads.
Anyway, as expected, it seems this triggered a lot of people, but instead of some self-reflection they choose prove my point.

It's bm.
I laugh when people do that because it makes no sense
'Member when "sorry" was the BM emote? Pepperridge farm remembers.
You saw it on Youtube? Compiled even?

Just a guess.

It's that fake surprise similar to the gesture a magician makes at the end of his show, to make him feel clever (and you dumb).
It's the new "sorry". Just BM.
And most emotes are or will be used as BM. That's why they should be active just for the first turn (as real greetings) and then silence.
And no, squelch should not be an option. BM should not be given the chance at all. Even of talking to themselves.
Oh you poor special snowflake getting offended by the masses, here, take some atention and keep being so unique.

Everybody might send roses to opponents they beat & world will be a better place.
I personally use the greetings emote for greeting my opponent and when either of us plays a super OP minion/superior play
I just do it to get this same salt outta people.

It is BM. The only one that makes sense is Valeera, who says "The pleasure is mine."
I think that this trend comes from the "Happy Feast of Winterveil" bm/greetings.
However I just squelch every opponent at the beginnin of the game so I can't give a fuck about their bm hahahahah
