It would be cool though if a weasel tunneller prison deck was tier one and not your average arechetypes of control, aggro, midrange and occasionally combo before blizzard nerds it. Mill decks for example, blizzard could make them strong but they don't, they're playable and if you're really good you could get really far with them but they just aren't top decks.
If you can flowchart with Miracle, you can flowchart any deck.
Definitely not the case with Dragon Priest. Dragon Priest is the most interesting deck atm because of all the discover effects.
Control mirrors with Dragon Priest are the best games you can have, but a lot in the game ruins it. Renolock ruins it with Leeroy and Jaraxxus, which basically removes the need to think.
Jade Druid does it with Jade Idol. No thought required, just survive long enough to chain jades and you win.
But Dragon vs Dragon is cool, same with Dragon vs Reno ( but again sometimes the burst just invalidates thinking ) and Dragon vs Control Warrior.
Those are the most fun games I've had with the latest expansion, but so many of them are soured by burst or just one unbeatable card.
Control mirror should be about managing your limited ressources, not drawing into burst or drawing into one card that just steamrolls the opponent no matter what ( i.e. Jaraxxus ).
I want to say that I was always a fan of Combo decks like the old Miracle Rogue (Not the new one), Freeze Mage, OTK Warrior (Not as retarded as it was right before the nerf though.)
it was like a new wave of hope for me. The deck is amazing, fun and most important - it works!
I dunno about ''works''... :P - But i certainly find it fun :D In HS there will always be some deck types that are far stronger than other ones, and right now the game favors fast decks that quickly will kill your opponent (which they're VERY good at) - before that the game favored on-curve Midrange Decks (Midrange Shaman and previously Secret Paladin) and even more before that we had Patron Combo Warrior. Point is: The game keeps on changing, who knows in a few months when they release a new expansion and (hopefully) nerf Small-Time Buccaneer we might see a new Combo deck or even a Mill deck (doubt that one) come up.
- People will keep on complaining about the top tier decks no matter what Blizzard do though, because they're all insanely strong (otherwise they wouldn't be top tier decks) ^^ Btw, love your explanation of Paladin, seems legit.
I always hated combo decks. Imo, Nothing feels worse than losing to a freeze mage.
YES!!! YES YES YES!!! Mage in general is the least fun class to face, and I never play Mage in constructed because I hate facing them so much. Even Warlock, with their broken hero power, is not as un-fun as Mage.
I particularly like the fact that there are now finally enough dragons in the collection that you have to actually consider which ones to include! *Shock!* :-P
Hoping that this continues with the removal of Blackrock dragons and synergy cards from Standard - I'll miss Blackwing Corruptor in particular. Having Twilight Whelp on the board on turn 1 is a strength, too.
you say you hate losing to freeze mage but what deck do you like losing to
I will "well played" any opponent who gives me a fair match. If they can kill me on the turn before I would have killed them (without a crutch like Ice Block), I can respect that. Freeze Mage does nothing to interact with your board, they just hurl fireballs (or frostbolts and ice lances) at your face. It's worse than aggro. In fairness, though, I don't like any combo decks (Miracle Rogue bugs me, too).

I actually like (or perhaps "prefer" is a better word) losing to the Pirate Warrior deck at the moment, simply because it happens very fast and I know early on (from my card draw) whether I'm going to out-control him or not get enough taunts on the board.
A quick loss means being able to move on to the next match and get the star back. :-)
Basically yeah, i think the game is kinda becoming a no-brainer. There are accasional games that do in fact require skill and some deeper knowledge of the game, but mostly it all comes to you or your opponent making a mistake. Or just getting a better draw. What's most important is playing a deck with a 50%+ winrate and you're fine. Legend makes no sense (I'm telling you that, because I reached it a couple of times and it's not even close to be called an achievement. And I got to like top 250, maybe if I tryharded I would reach #1). The game doesn't reward you for playing complicated strategies but instead rewards you when you play fast-paced and simple decks with high winrate.
It is brainless there's always that smorc deck that just goes face. The difference between now and then is there's no real answers. I want a control "chess match" game as well. Aggro is important so we don't just have control but aggro shouldn't be at the power level it's at. 4 turns win over 50% of the time.
I am definitely noticing that Pirate decks are becoming much easier to beat these days. Obviously you need to have your wits about you early on to counter the initial threat, but once you get your taunts and regen going, they tend to struggle a lot more now. It's just part of the meta shift I guess - people are becoming more aware of what to expect from pirate rush decks now and can adjust to that.
