in the last year I came up with the following conclusions for myself and i would like to hear what you think about it:
1) There are X% good cards and X% trash. This is made so discover, arena and thinks like shredder will not have OP value. This makes it so that even a new player who did buy an AddOn gets some cards for any class, but over all... you can't really build a deck with them and win. You need to buy the AddOns + packs to have a deck that works. Why?
2) The power level of the cards that we have now is absurd and they are not able to balance it. The differences in the way decks work is not only to counter some decks (i think that this is normal) but it spawns deck types that are so OP that there is no room to deal with them if they don't have a direct counter to it in the set itself.
It puts a 1/2 body on the board (1,5 worth of stats) that has the effect to become a 3/2 (that is a 2drop without effect) This guy can spawn (or should i say WILL SPAWN) Patches the Pirate
So we talk about 1 damage to your face + 2/3 body that can become a 4/3 next turn. This is a Flame Juggler that can even get +2 attack when you get a weapon
How to deal with it? Well, if you would get a 1 mana spell that deals 2 damage to 2 or more minions, THEN you could clear the board (not speaking about taking it) to deal with it and still remain with the 29hp, because he did deal 1 to the face.
So if you would want to break even you need a 1 mana 2 damage board clear that heals you for 1.
I would like to see Ben Brode to make a deck that uses cards up to TGT that is able to beat the current meta. I'm very sure that he can't come up with a deck that CAN beat this, Jade and the Dragon Priest. I feel this whole thing is more and more about "beeing lucky on if you Q up against your counter or not"
You want a 4th magic deck that beats the 3 current meta decks
Then what beats your 4th all conquering new meta deck?
Play for another 6 months I think buddy
Power creep is a thing, but its hardly out of control. If they only released weak cards in the expansion nobody would buy them. If nobody buys them this game doesn't exist. The fact that there are 3 top tier decks at the moment suggests the game is quite balanced.
All 9 classes will never be tier 1 at the same time. But they dont have to be for the game to be enjoyable.
Ben Brode is just a pr guy. No reason to target him specifically. There are a ton of people working on Hearthstone, with several different sources of input, and we have seen the deck formulas Blizzard has put into the game. The fact is, they develop these cards way before any meta has settled or any archetype has solidified. So if rogue for example is struggling with something, it doesn't really matter. Because Blizzard already has plans to push burgle/stealth rogue, those are the plans they follow. I think the priest outcry might have made them create drakonid op. But for the most part they just make the cards they want.
Please, please close this thread. First of all, Small-Time Buccaneer is not 1.5 mana worth of stats, it's 1 mana. 2/2 is 1.5 mana worth of stats. Second of all, if a 1/1 minion with Charge is seriously enough to throw you off your game and you can't get rid of something as tiny as a Small-Time Buccaneer with a spell or Taunt, then I don't know what kind of shitty cards you have in your deck. I mean, ask any Zoolock that runs Bilefin Tidehunter or any Shaman that runs Feral Spirit or, oh I don't know, DOOMSAYER, they'll tell you that crap doesn't mean anything. Third of all, Pirate Warrior has absolutely no power past turn 5 to kill you, and there is no shortage to the amount of decks that can freely abuse that. Fourth of all, you want a deck up to TGT that can beat Pirate Warrior? I'll give you three: Freeze Mage, Control Shaman, and Zoolock. And last of all, I don't know how anyone in this community of subservient simpletons can even begin to think that a deck is only OP when it gets 2 more cards!
Hello,
in the last year I came up with the following conclusions for myself and i would like to hear what you think about it:
1) There are X% good cards and X% trash. This is made so discover, arena and thinks like shredder will not have OP value.

Example? Small-Time Buccaneer

Cleave
Your logic is so flawed.
You want a 4th magic deck that beats the 3 current meta decks
Then what beats your 4th all conquering new meta deck?

There are enough threads about this already.
