While I'm an average/mediocre Hearthstone player and I've been enjoying the game for quite a while now, I was never into World of Warcraft, I know little to nothing about its story, characters and extensive lore. While this has not forbidden me to enjoy the game, I sometimes feel a bit lost on details players sometimes exchange on forums, and absolutely lost on what to name custom fanmade cards without being sacrilegious to the WoW universe (I'm clueless on how much Blizzard diverges from that on Hearthstone, does every card have a WoW equivalent element?).
How many of you here are absolutely unaware of anything WoW related, as I am?

I'm missing the 4th option: I had no clue about WoW lore, but through HS and reading wiki entries I know a bit now :)
You're second group, then. You got to be familiar with it someway or another.
As for myself, I feel so intimidated by its size and my general lack of interest in it, that I generally avoid reading too much about it or bothering with details. The cards could have no name or artwork for all that I cared, I only think about the effects, I don't know what a "Jade Golem" is in the universe context.

I've played WoW since classic, give or take a year break at one point. I've never been a lore specialist, but I know enough to appreciate the references in things such as Cairne Bloodhoof's flavor text or the running joke with how the new Hogrider cards are totally cannon (hint: they aren't in WoW).
Have played WoW but it's not my cup of tea (even though I love MMORPG games). However, I love old Warcraft games and thus I'm familiar with most characters and stuff. For latest update and story, I just read it online.

Betrayer... In truth, it was I who was betrayed. Still, I am hunted. Still, I am hated. Now, my blind eyes see what others cannot: that sometimes the hand of fate must be forced! Now go forth... unleash the tides of Doom... Upon all those...who would oppose us.
I've never played it and have really no interest in wow. Actually, I would prefer if HS could be completely separated from that universe and have no connections to wow, it would make it a bit less childish and maybe more appealing to casual gamers. That's just my opinon, even if I'll admit it's not a very popular one.
Liked Warcraft, hated WoW, played both a little. Vaguely familiar with the lore before I started playing HS, but HS taught me a bit and actually got me interested in Warcraft's story. Thinking of picking WC up again just to explore the story. I've always been a hardcore Diablo fan and a huge Starcraft fan, but for some reason Warcraft never really clicked with me until now. Can we have a Diablo spinoff next? >.>

The classic tier: Reno Jackson | Elise Starseeker | Brann Bronzebeard.
I've played Warcraft 1 back in the mid 90s. I remember very little about it.
There's no way I'd have time to actively play another game. Demanding job, side projects, a growing family - I'll just stick with Hearthstone.

I've played it, but not that much.
That should be an option.
