Check out Faceless Manipulator and Barnes. First off, both either summon a copy of a minion or just get a copy of a minion. They don't get the minion himself right? Wrong!
If you silence the 1/1 copy of the minion, it will get it's usual stats. But if you silence the minion out of faceless manipulator, it doesn't get to the 3/3 faceless but instead get to the copied version of the minion. I don't know if you get it but either the silenced 1/1 should keep being a 1/1 or the silenced faceless should get to a 3/3 faceless. Right?
Every other card actually works as intended. Guess maybe even both should work like getting strictly silenced to a 1/1 and back to faceless and not spmething else. I mean it is pretty much the same with druid of the claw and ancient of war. Faceless should be read as: Transform this minion into the targeted minion or something like that
the faceless isn't gaining a tag, it's transforming itself into a new minion, like a polymorph ability. barnes is basically just casting humility and equality on the minion he summons.

More likely an enchantment called "Incredible Impression" which causes the summoned minion to be 1/1 , but if you silence that minion (as it doesn't have a beneficial effect) it becomes regularly statted as the enchantment was removed.
Barnes Battlecry: summon a 1/1 copy of a random minion.
In the case of Faceless Manipulator the card is becoming another card with no effects to silence applied with the exception of buffs that were applied.
in the case of Barnes the 1/1 is summoned thethen a debuff to 1/1 is applied. Therefore when silenced the debuff is removed giving the minion it's original stat line.
This may be unintuitive but is working as intended. Hope this helps in understanding how these work.

Vvreeeew.
The biggest inconsistency in Hearthstone was the Miniature Warfare Brawl and Evolve, or the Yellow-Brick Brawl and Dreadsteed.

OP's question/concern has been answered. Faceless Manipulator doesn't summon anything, it becomes (transforms into) something.
