i think a great way to stop hateful friend requests would be to have a cool down period before you can unfriend someone after you send a friend request. At least people get the right of reply. That way you can unfriend them straight away if you don't like what they say, but if you want to reply you get a chance before they guerrilla snipe you with some insults then instantly unfriend you.
lol, making sure people can reply with some insults? How would that help anything?
For my own amusement, really. If someone is going to friend me just to send some garbled, semi-literate insult, I should get the chance to give them a piece of my mind. What's good for the goose and all that...
You are not helping at all bro, your idea is very silly. Do you really want the Battle.net chat to become a battlefield? Are you serious? Just tell me you are joking, please.
I play on the Asian server so I never get added and abused after I win. Literally never.
What I would do to experience the sweet, salty tears just once. Please.
You guys are so lucky this happens to you. It's frickin hilarious! Damn Asian people are too nice and respectful.
Actually, I had a guy add me once after I won and type loads of stuff in Korean (that I obviously have no idea how to read). Being Asian he probably just complimented me on my deck and went on his merry way.
My entire friends list is from people that I've sent the request to. Strange that I've never received a real request :(
i play everyday on Asia and yes i have been abused once. Since then i started to BM and even roping. i am not proud of myself for doing that. That also makes me to no longer accepting friend requests and simply just leave it there to feel good of myself of how many salty players
So, if you aren't proud of yourself for doing that, why don't you stop? Do you have selfcontrol problems or something like that?
I have a very low self esteem due to my growing environment. Therefore I will do whatever to feel good regardless of the proud thingy
Seriusly guys, everyday new thread about crap like this, learn to ignore.
Banning toxic players >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Not improving anything

IMAGINE if your 7 year old child or grandchild could play Hearthstone and get a friend request -- without you going "WAIT WAIT WAIT WAIT..! STOP! DO NOT ACCEPT THAT INVITATION!"
Meh, most kids don't really have any problem with some stupid insults. They are usually accustomed to the dumbasses that insult everyone at school and are hated by their teachers and classmates. There are always kids like that at school, and everyone knows it, or do you live under a rock? Of course, it sucks, but we are not here to discuss that.
I'm pretty sure most kids are much more mature than all the people complaining about this stupid shit on this thread, which is very sad.
I think your environment is too much insulting that you can brush it off as it is nothing. Some people take insults seriously and you cannot expect everyone to be like you. There are even some serious cases of depression in children due to insults. If you cannot solve the problem, please do not show that you are superior. Brush it off does not mean the problem is solved.
What are they going to do? Ban a paying customer for hurting your feelings? Or don't accept friend requests from strangers. You be the person who adds people after a good game. If you get a snap friend request from a defeated opponent, you can bet that over 50% of the time it is some crybaby that wants to send a mean message and remove you before you can reply so you don't hurt their fragile feelings.

I think the best solution is just ignore the request but if a person like to make friends and discuss about cards etc, it is by their own discretion to accept any request. They also can wait a bit before accepting. If they want to make friends and discuss, the best way is to join this forum as we can openly state our opinion and ask for their tag if really like the other person
The only reason why someone would add you other than to rage is if there was a ridiculous/incredible/hilarious play made in the game or you're playing your own deck that people haven't seen before. I mostly play my own decks so I get a lot of positive friend requests. However, when I was aggro shamaning my way to 500 wins last summer, I knew better than to accept requests. So if you're playing a meta deck just don't accept and if you're playing your own, read the situation and make an informed choice

False. I add people every now and then, perhaps I want a RE, or just because they had fantastic RNG or I wanna know about their deck, etc.

You are not helping at all bro, your idea is very silly. Do you really want the Battle.net chat to become a battlefield? Are you serious? Just tell me you are joking, please.
What I'm suggesting won't be turning battle.net chat into a warzone. It is effectively stopping someone adding a friend just to abuse you then delete you straight away.
Under the current system it goes something like this:
person a> send friend request
person b> accept
person a> "I don't approve of your deck and I wish harm to your family. Also, you are probably of a different ethnicity and sexual persuasion from myself which frightens me because I'm insecure"
person b> "It's a shame you feel that way because I thought it was a good game. I got a bit lucky there when my gnomish experimenter turned my boogeymonster into a chicken giving me the beast I needed to close out the game with kill command" >That person is not on your friend list
Under my system person b either has the option of laughing it off and deleting person a, or replying in whatever manner they choose. It's just person a needs to wait a few minutes before unfriending person b. This either makes someone hesitate before abusing someone else (because if you're the kind of person who gets angry enough at a video game to wish smallpox on his opponents grandmother, you're probably the kind of person who really hates having your insults returned), or only send a friend request when they are genuinely interested in a deck or enjoyed the game. You never know, persons a and b might even strike up a long distance relationship and eventually get married and live happily ever after.
I'm not sure how that's rude, but if a cute dog says it is, it must be true. My suggestion is one to stop the bad manners, not encourage them.
this "cool down" or call it what you like would also have the positive effect that you could report heavy insults, at the moment it is "Accept - Get insulted - Try to reply / report - Insulter already unfriended to avoid reporting"
I had the bitch'nrun experience a while back and after the person unfriended me, I send him a friend request. He accepted and posted the same thing. This was repeated multiple times and at some point he didn't accept my friend request anymore. It felt like I won /goodstorybro
From my experience I came to the conclusion that nobody adds me to congratulate me or just to have a good talk. If they win, they want to mock me, and if they lose, they want to insult me, so I sistematically reject every friendship request, no matter how many times they try. Also, I squelch them as soon as I can, so I don't have to see a single emote. Even that has come to bother me.
You added him. This is like jumping in front of a car and complaining to the government for not being able to protect you, lol.
No, I don't think it is like that. I didn't ask him to be a dick. He requested me. I thought it was a good game, and I like having people on my friends list to spectate for quests. If I had added him, maybe your analogy would be less ridiculous, but either way that doesn't make it okay to harass people.
Well now you know that a lot of HS players are just going to add to complain. It's probably a rare 5% or less than are interested in your deck. Just don't add them. Especially if you'll feel hurt that they'll blame you and the RNG God for them losing.
So learn from this and don't add people who you just beat. (Even sometimes if you lose they'll add you to whine about how newb you are and how lame your deck is.) It doesn't happen often to me but it can happen especially in higher ranks.
My battle tag is a reference to the anime Fairy Tail. I used to try to add people whose battle tags also seemed to be Fairy Tail references to say "Nice Fairy Tail reference", but nobody ever responded. :-(
You can turn on allowing anonymous people to contact you. At the same time there is a function that only people who have been your friends for two weeks can contact you.
That is a bit long but you get the picture. You have the option to choose a wait time before accepting new friends and receiving messages.
My only complaint would be for names. Plus I always emote as much as the person. Then multiple Bms, even if I lose the game. Then accept friend request with "Gg :)"
It doesn't hurt my feelings when somebody adds me as a friend just to rant. I think it is hilarious. But I do think that it screws up the culture of the game because 90% of the time that I try to add someone after an awesome game, they ignore it since they think I am going to rant on them.
Indeed. I tried a few times to add someone to chat after a great game, they never accepted, so I gave up trying to be social.
One time a guy said he hoped my family died of cancer after I beaten him in a game. Before i was able to reply he deleted me from my friends list . I know it's stupid to take things like this personal but I felt pretty salty after that and I wished there was a report button too.
That guy never have shouted this Of course. But I don't spent time in replying him, only to delete instant.
Yes i think there should be a system. Cause for that kind of People you not accepting friend requests that easely
....
Harassment in a game that only has emotes
I swear to god you fucking millennials are killing me.

I like this idea
G=Good B=Bad Do you see the pattern? Every second expansion is always trash.
G: Goblins V Gnomes , Old Gods, unguro
B: TGT, gadgetzan, Knights (Unreleased so MAYBE)

Should you craft/disenchant (Golden) Sylvanas or Ragnaros?

Make the cool down period an option like Tumblr.
