I have never had so much fun playing Hearthstone. Finally I get to play Reno Mage with decent results. though I guess it's too soon to tell whether it's viable.
This expansion provokes innervation. WotG just made people throw 16 C'Thun cards into a deck and call it a day. With this expansion there's so many things to explore.
I've already messed around with:
- Dragon Priest
- Reno Mage
- Mrrrrgll Pally
- Midrange Pally
- Jade Idol Druid
- C'thun Druid (with the Aviana + Kun + Brann combo)
And it's just the beginning.
I've been fortunate not to run into Pirate Warrior yet. I've already seen a lot of streamers complaining about the menace. I guess we'll have to wait and see whether Pirate Warrior is gonna be the new Shaman of the pack.
Long game control decks are hurt this meta by golem decks though. Yes, it is great to have many ways to play, unfortunately this meta kills the long game, more so than the last meta.
There are a lot of cool cards, but it's sad to see that the route they took with anyfin has been strenghtened even more with jade idol. ie, not necessarily a very strong card overall, but one that completely shits on entire archetypes without lifting a finger in mental effort.
Anyways, right now there is a shitload of aggro... but I reckon once people figure out that good old mid-range shaman runs 4 cheap AoE... we'll be back to shamanstone pretty damn quick.
Paladin looks like it might be a contender again tho, which is nice... paladin with a bit more solid early game can contend with shaman.
Yeah, this will last until Tempostorm updates their side and everyone will netdeck again. Enjoy the time :)
Exactly! It's sites like these with tier list that are the real cancer. The meta game is alway up in the air at a new expansion partly because everyone's experimenting but also partly because netdecks aren't optimised. But mostly because the tier lists haven't been given an update. As soon as they do everyone just floods to the "tier 1" decks.
Normal netdecking wouldn't be that much of a problem if people just listed things on places like hearthpwn with no real order but just people rating them as they used it. No one would know for sure which is the best and would just go with their gut. There would still be a meta game develop but it would consist of a larger variety of the stronger decks.
People might then have a feeling for example that pre-MSG that Shaman was the strongest but it's only when actual tier lists like tempostorm confirm these things that everyone floods to them.
It's like a self-fulfilling prophecy. Tell a population they there will be a petrol shortage and everyone goes out and buys as much petrol as possible causing a shortage. So tell them the best deck is for sure deck X and deck X becomes cancerous.
It is really incredible how the different decks now do against old decks such as Tempo Mage, Zoolock, Secret Hunter or even Midrange shaman. Especiallythe Lotus is what I am in love with
Which is why I think ALL expansions should be released like Adventures: 1 group of cards per week. NO REVEAL AT ALL.
This would keep alive the feeling of novelty for much longer, while giving a hardtime to netdecking and netdeckers until the expansion is already at about 1/3 of its life since first release.
I know it's gonna get boring again in a couple of weeks and I'm sure that by then there will be a new cancer deck fully formed that I'm gonna complain about but in comparison to the WotoG release, this is way more fun for me for some reason. Kazakus has been a lot of fun. The different fractions put a different flavor to the game and so far all of the fraction mechanics seem playable. Control has got a lot of tools (not just CW) and Pally and Priest are both looking to make a come back.
Have to agree this feels more like TGT only a little more boring because there's not really any new mechanics.
The trip class mechanics are actually fairly bland and amount of little more than buffs or vanilla minions. Kazakus has a great mechanic that doesn't already exist in the game but outside of that, this expansion feels like something that could have been released in the first year of Hearthstone - it just doesn't do enough to make playstyles different or more interesting.
This is the first expansion I have not even had fun on day one with. Take the Jade Golem decks, yeah they can sort of work but who cares even when they do? So I just got a load of stats on top of my minions/spells in the mid and late game. Wow. Such fun. Much skill.
Eh.

But a part from that: well done Blizzard!

Just remember the good times!
New decks is always fun to play, but..
1) Lots of good ol' cancer in both casual and rank 20: zoo shamans and secret hunter (and face mage).
2) Expansion not nearly as fun and exciting as old gods were, its more like tgt+ level.
3) Goons mechanic...
Still its very fun when you manage to find matchup homebrew deck vs homebrew deck.
yea having fun right now!!!
