Is it true that oppening multiple packs in succession will create better chances for finding legendaries than oppening the same number of packs but spereatly , 1 pack at a time?
i know about the 40 packs legendary pity timer, but my friend told me you have 1% chance to find a legendary in a pack, if you open multiple packs in succession, this chance will increase per pack, to say 1.3 % chance
ex : i buy 10 packs, and open them all i get a higher shot at a leg, i buy 1 pack and open it , then buy another and open it and repeat till i openened the same number of packs (10packs) i will have less chance?
do you know anything about the viability of this claim?
I would guess that Hearthstone has a set drop rate for each rarity, why would they bother changing Legendary drop rate from 1.3 to 1.0% for people who buy pack differently?
That would actually be unfair.
*EDIT*: especially when buying pack 1 by 1 is much more expensive
No, it just seems that way since when you open packs in a bulk you get all the cards immediately. The card rarities though improve until you get a legendary. I have often noticed packs with 1 or even 2 epics a bit before I get a legendary, so I am assuming that every few packs you don't get a Legendary the drop rates of rarer cards increases a bit.
I've been logging my pack openings to pitytimer and it's been almost 200 packs in total. When you look at the statistics, you see that it's always the same percentage. So you may get lucky in a few packs as some people get even 3 legendaries in a single pack, but in the end, it's always the same percentage for everyone.
I don't think that it works like that, because i don't see why they should do that. And there is no prove that it is like that. However, that makes your assuption not automatically wrong as some People think here. And as far as i know nobody checked it yet, and there is no proof that chances of getting a legendary are equal. So it might be true. But your friend should provide a prove or a source.
It feels like that because you are actually likely to get a legendary if you open a lot of packs than when you open just one.
I only got 4 legendaries in 100 packs for WOG, So no, it doesn't increase your chance to open a legendary of you open them all at once is my experience.
Now what is the trigger for a better chance to get a leg? Buying packs together or opening them quickly (how quickly?). For the first the answer is "Blizzard would be dumb to do this", for the second it is "we have no sufficient data, and first we have to define what is 'in succession', and finally why the hell should Blizzard do this?".

I don't think it works like that. The game keeps track when you opened your last legendary/epic, and if you didn't got one yet, the pity timer kicks in. Other than that, chances remain the same with each pack you open.
Actually the chances increase before as well. It is not that the Chance for a legendary is 5% for the first 39 packs and 100% for the 40th pack.

This is true, I've percibe the same, the rarity has been drop for épic and Legendary.
okay thanks guys, and for the rude comments i was just trying to validate a claim someone made, grow up
And why didn't you ask him for some evidence about his silly claim? Like really, wouldn't that have been much easier instead of starting a new thread on this forum asking such a ridiculous question?

Hmmm... unfair but it might be actually true. Is it just me or does anyone here noticed that the contents of the packs are seemingly better when:
- Bought with real money (better cards); - Won in Arena; (marginally better than gold cards); - Bought with gold (worst cards).
I can be wrong but I think something like this really happens in HS.

I don't know but that statement feels true and that's why I always try to open packs in bulk. Thanks for letting me know about the pity timer.

You should also spit over your left shoulder when opening packs, it further increases chances by 0.1%. But only on Monday, Friday and Sunday.
I dont think so, its just pure luck. I had 2 arena runs consecutively reward me with 1 legendary from each pack I opened after each run.
No way. That would be unpractical and stupid.
But it's easy to explain why you'd feel that way.

I was once bought a single Ol' Gods pack, and got Fandral Staghelm out of it.

Mmmhm, always get a legendary every 40 packs~
- Won in Arena; (marginally better than gold cards);
- Bought with gold (worst cards).
This is just funnier to open more pack at once :)
Love the tribes.
