Well, here's my impression, i've been laddering roughly just before LoE.
Before standard/wog i remember the meta was crowded with cancerous stuff, against which i felt i had little to no choice but play myself face hunter. It has to be said i was not very experienced tho.
Now i am no top player, but i think i know what i'm doing (except trying to foresee opponent's cards, that is something i DON'T WANT to do). And i think meta is still quite cancerous, but at least i feel i have some chances. I am rarely brutally overpowered, which is something that used to happen quite early before wog.
To some up, you can see how my summary is biased by the difference of my skill and collection in time, but i quite agree this is a better meta than in the past.
Yet, i wouldnt call it 'healthy' at all, because we have variety of decks, but not of players (too many play the same things on and on). It's just healthier than something which was badly ill.
silly boy. Current standard meta is worst one ever. I actually used to enjoy playing even during Miracle Rogue, Undertaker and Secret Pally times, but this meta is just mindnumbing and boring. All I see on ladder is midrange shamans and midrange hunters with some pallies in between. There is not a single control deck. Some dying control warriors don't count. Shamans and Hunters roflstomp them. What is this combo you speak of? Last I checked OTK worgen is dead. Blizzard is on a crusade against combo. This game only has aggro and midrange decks. And, tbh, there is little difference between aggro and midrange in HS. Midrange hunter can curve - 1,2,3,4,5, etc which is the same as aggro.
As a result, I only play to complete quests. Don't feel like wasting my playtime by playing against sea of shamans and hunters.
Oh, and don't get me started on arena. If you are not playing mage in arena, you are doing it wrong. But Blizz still refuses to remove Fireland's Portal.
Rofl @ balance in this game
Freeze Mage is a combo deck. All Malygos decks are combo, like Malygos Druid or Malygos Rogue. Miracle is also combo. Maybe OTK Warrior was the "purest" combo deck because that was the only win condition it had, and all these I mentioned have other things in their arsenal, but they all have combo pieces anyway.
I totally agree about Arena. Although removing the crappier cards for the worst classes was a nice approach and helped to shorten the gap between them an the best classes, they really fucked up with Mage adding Firelands Portal as a common, which puts them at the top very far from the rest.
I like the state of a meta very much. Even tho there are a lot of shamans its not like you dont know what to expect of them like when facing mages or druids. Whats more is that even if they are top tier 1 class ATM their playstyle isnt aggresive and doesnt focus on brainless SMOrcing like in case of past AGGRO shaman or new burst mage which is the worst shit ive seen in last year in hearthstone. Seriously ive just played burst mage and he literally threw every single spell at my face not even worrying about any top priority minion (flametongue, thunder bluff, mana tide).
All pure face aggro players should really visit a good expensive psychologist.
-Deck has an actual nemesis in the form of freeze mage.
no more ;) with Eater of Secrets I have >>50% wr because Mage just doesn't expect it. Of course I sacrifice some win pct against other classes, but I have no complete collection anyway, eg zero Mana Tide Totem, so I prefer fun over tryhard laddering (and before that comes up, I don't play Shaman only ^^)
And I can confirm the thread title, good mixup in the lower ranks, can't speak for 5-1 & L though
I do have the feeling that I can make decks which feature less than your obvious cards and win consistently (relatively) without being torn to shreds by a Shaman.
I would contend there will always be a deck which stands above the rest in this game, which will generally lead people to condemning the meta and the very fabric of the game itself.
To me, if the best deck is just some midrange-aggro deck where they play the game honestly, just with better cards, that doesn't bother me as much. What killed me is when Grim Patron Warrior can kill me from an empty board without any input or say from me.

Shouldn't it be Control < Aggro < Midrange < Control?
WHy you call yourself Control when you pwned by a face hunter? control > aggro> Combo= Midrange > control.
When we say Control < Aggro in my country we mean that control beat aggro... :P Also Combo is kinda wierd, as it doesn't really fit the scheme - most combo decks are designed to beat a certain other archetype...
Meta is fine but not the best control>aggro and in no country does < mean greater than. ALSO combo is not just different control. Unless you think that anyfin is the only combo deck. Freeze mage is a variant in super old aggro mage and since then many hybridizations and slower versions have been released but it usually wins by turn 11 or else it has lost. No other viable combo decks atm but generally combo wants to win turns 7-12 and if that is not more midrang or aggro than control in your mind then I can't help you. Combo is varied but in general not control at all. Often they just ignore the board or freeze it because they are going to win regardless of the board they don't control the game they hang on to it by a thread and then suddenly win.
only thing im getting right now is hunter cancer :(

Shouldn't this be in Standard section instead of General Discussion?
Legendaries crafted so far: Dr. Boom, Kazakus, Lord Jaraxxus, Sylvanas Windrunner, Fire Plume's Heart, Mal'Ganis, Bloodreaver Gul'dan, Baku the Mooneater, Genn Greymane, Aya Blackpaw, Patches the Pirate, Leeroy Jenkins, Zilliax, Raid the Docks and ancharr
The game has the lowest skill-success correlation it's ever had. Making true "face" decks fairly obsolete and nerfing Yogg hasn't changed that.
CCGing since '98.

Meta is healthy enough, shamans just a little bit to much on power level.
I'm fine with midrange chaman being the dominant deck:
-there is actually interaction ! No 15 dmg from hand bullshit.
-the deck is actually more interesting to play than other past dominant decks. Playing a lot of games with it is not a chore.
-Deck has an actual nemesis in the form of freeze mage.
-I hadn't played chaman for a long time (I usually dislike playing aggro or face deck, they're nto good for my sanity)
you play warrior or shaman or perish
Most enjoyable meta so far was the undertaker meta. Kill the 1 drop before it kills you on turn 4.
Who can take your trash out?
Stomp it down for you?
Shake the plastic bag
and do the twisty thingy, too?
Until Hearthstone becomes Control > Aggro > Combo > Control and Skill > RNG we will never see an enjoyable meta.
Shouldn't it be Control < Aggro < Midrange < Control?

Hey, how's it going?
What's poppin,' player?

Just fill your deck with one drops, that is creative deck design, right?
Those are my stats since beginning of season. I wouldn't call that healthy, but it could obviously be worse.
