Just came came after taking a break. I skipped the entire Wrath expansion because I hated it.
Now I came back and started playing. Started ranking up. Got to rank 10 and then I faced nothing but hunter. 5 in a row to be exact.
Turned the game off.
Is it back to this again? Is it hunter meta deluxe all over again like Naxx was I just really unlucky?
Rank 10 isn't the meta.
It is for rank 10. There's multiple metas. Tempostorm only reports the high end version. For the majority of players, it's not too relevant as they are in the lower ranks. For most folks, the rank 15-5 meta is the meta they really care about.
Though the point of the replies is to let the OP know that his 5 hunter experience isn't THAT typical. Hunter is popular but not as nasty as they were when he first played and shamans are much more common.
Ok I'll bite.
If the meta is different at rank 10 then why are you talking about the shaman meta which is most prevalent at under rank 5 and legend? That doesn't seem to be relevant to the rank 10 meta in which he played against 5 hunters.

what you wanna say? that hunters arent all over the place in legend ranks?
Legend can be a bit different because there is also a lot of experimental decks on top of the top tier, but under rank 5 hunter is probably middle of the road in terms of being common because there are so many shamans. Midrange shaman deals with hunter exceptionally well since they can have such a great board presence before call of the wild, and have a hex for Highmane.

Because I was referring to the rank 15-5 meta when I said that, not the 5-legend rank.
Unless someone has some data that says that the rank 10ish zone has gone full hunter recently.
I played over 60 games in rank 5 patiently over the weekend
Win rate only 45%- why you ask? because of 60 games 28 hunters. Yes half of it.
Until COW is out of rotation this game is ruined. its pointless.
What deck are you playing?
It is not really a point what deck i am playing, the problem is the ratio of hunters.
Basically i have decks that runs 70%+ rate and should easily climb to legend (my own versions of CW, Control paladin, healing shaman etc - basically control decks).
There is a twist to it - That 70% is if i exclude hunter matchup. I get that my decks are very bad against hunters and i dont mind that. Its that rock , paper, scissors thingy which i am again fine with it.
But the fact that 50% of the matches are Hunters simply negates any attempt to rank with control deck.
So not even COW is a problem, problem is amount of hunters. If i am as player forced to play a deck that directly counters ONE deck and ONE only - than i would not call it a healthy meta imho.

If you aren't adjusting to the majority of the meta, you are rewarding them for playing hunter.
Well not anymore:)
Last night had run into good spell of nonhunters matches (3 non hunter matches in a row could not believe it!) and managed to be one win short of lvl 4.
Next five matches:
Hunter: Lost even before COW
Hunter: Lost to COW
Hunter : Lost to COW
Hunter: Survived turn 8 COW! Lost to turn 9 second COW.
At this point i said one more hunter and i am done.
Game 5 : Hunter. Close the game. Lost the will to play this game again:) Have a will to complain at forums though. As feels like shit/.
I face so much drood maly, yogg, etc ... at rank 4 some mid sham (not so much face right now) hunt, demo (discolock is actually a thing) the truth is the meta is pretty fast but their is a real diversity of class. Priest, pal and rogue appart xD. It's obvious that it cant be possible to have 15 tier 1 deck it's a fact. Actually their is like 5 or 6 good tier 2 decks that can make it to upper ranks without problems. Perhaps not legend but actually very few people hit legend (or care about it). I hit legend once with face sham and now i don't care, i play what i want and i keep myself around rank 4 and that is find, you have good reward you play fun decks. Just chill people, it's a game.

It's a midrange deck. Those tend to die off to anything aggro or combo. Combo would leave you vulnerable to aggro, of course, but if what you are facing (as far asnon-hunters) then Combo decks like Rogue or OTK warrior would do well for hunters and the rest of the meta.
If what yo uare facig are hunters and control decks, go aggro. Aggro can deal with hunters and control decks effectively.
Slow Tempo with heal also helps as well and orks well if you are seeing aggro + midrange. Dragon Priest in particular is nice in both being able to block damage and heal yourslef out of range. Myself I found my paladin decks also work well when I'm not trying to get away with a supergreedy deck, which midrange is meant to punish.
Point is, you don't have to flat out COUNTER hunter. You just need to be able to get some wins in vs hunter while maintaining a good offensive against other decks. That does mean using a different deck, but that's how playing competitively means; playing against the meta.
Sidenote, if it helps the mood, Blizzard has stated that CotW is one of their top cards on their watch list. Though they aren't sure if it's really CotW or a card like Highmane that's enabling it's power. Either way, it's being considered as a possible problem.
I took a big break from visiting HS related sites, where half of the people whine about cards that ruin the game. The game itself felt better all of a sudden.

One does not simply walk into Mordor,
unless they want to be the best they can be.
In my run to rank 20 ~10 I only faced shamans. One time 7 in a row
You're LUCKY
Legendaries Opened: Tirion Fordring * Ysera * Dreadscale * Malorne * Cenarius * Captain Greenskin * Two fucking Nat, the Darkfisher * The Lich King * Deathwing * Hemet, Jungle Hunter * Malfurion The Pestlent (adv)
Legendaries Crafted: Deathwing, Dragonlord * Alexstrasza * Chillmaw * Kel'Thuzad

If you're not playing Hunter, you're not trying.
