I'm not one of those people who auto-squelches everyone because I'd say about 70% of the games I play go without any emotes or just one, maybe 2. However today I had a particularly cancerous arena run where 6 of the 11 people I played in that run spammed well played or wow. I squelched them after a few turns of this but I would often unsquelch them a few turns later and find they were still spamming the emotes. I assume they had no idea they had been squelched but I think it would be a good idea if there was a notification that told them or they were unable to emote because it is a waste of my time and a waste of their time since they're spamming emotes that no one else sees.
If you squelch them it should be like LK and priest match where he silences you. If opponent silences/squelches you, you should only be able to say mmphh :P
They don't know but it would be so fun if they knew!I mean look how fun the game against the lich king is as priest! It would be so fun for the heroes to say Silence Scrub!(with less offensive and more thematic words) and then the opponents emotes to be turn to ''muuumm!muuuummm!MUUUUUUM!''.Just imagine both sides spamming ''mmmmuuuumm' to each other! XD
The thing bout squelching is that they still think they are doing this pseudo-badass "let's say wow 12 times to let him know he is dead" thing, and then they rope You, and You waste time too. If they knew they we're squelched, the message would basically say "shut up and let's play" which to me seems really good.
ACTUALLY, remember the old line: don't feed the trolls. The entire point to trolling is to cause your target to respond in some way. basically gaining control by making them do something in reaction to you instead of them proactively doing..whatever they wanted to do.
Thus mass spamming until you get a "you got squelched" is EXACTLY the response that would get them going. They would laugh at how 'weak' you are for 'getting so worked up over some worthless lines."
Right now squelching does nothing like that because there's no real way to tell whether they were squelched or whether you are just ignoring them. They get no feedback from their actions and, thus, no feeling of control. All they see is a person playing the game like they were before they trolled.
So if all you want is some mental stimulus by 'getting back' at those trolls then a responsive squelch would be useful. If you actually want to HARM the troll or offer the most reason to stop doing it then the silence squelch is the best option.
This is from a person who HAS, in the past, trolled people. It feels A LOT better to see "you have been ignored" than just...emptiness.
you will not see it when you are squelched, I emote a lot for mental advantage so I will gwt squelched a ton and I never had a message telling me I was squalched

Let me guess you play pirate warrior in casual too?
Yeah I just let them spam emotes and when the game turns around I do the same thing back, roping lethal and all. I won't do this against anyone unless they first give me a reason to though. Regardless, putting up an unbreakable wall, being way out of lethal and spamming "wow" until a Pirate Warrior concedes is pretty funny
If they want to be retarded, let them be without knowing they are. Maybe one day, they will guess it in a worse way and get they shit together.
Btw, you had to have some insane draft if they were so pissed. Mind sharing the list? :P I have to say I will use wow or threat emote from time to time when I see my opponent having insane cards as sometimes its just absurd.

Is this to compensate for the mental disadvantage you have?
Hell no! Don't let those idiots figure out you've squelched them. Those retards would probably start roping as their last resort to be cunts to everyone else. Let them futilely waste their time without knowing like the lesser autists (edit: actually worse than that, I have actually found autists that are likeable) they refuse to admit they are.
If you are squelching for any other reason than silence, you probably aren't doing it right.
Start of Year: Provoke the failure of 3 expansions, force nerfs on otherwise balanced cards, bring deckbuilding to an all-time low and get rotated one year earlier for being such a threat to the game's health. - Genn and Baku's historical entry on the White Book of Shit Design, shortly before retiring unpunished

I like the fact that it is a waste of their time personally ;)
I wish they did know. I want them to know I sat there and thought, "STFU nub."

One does not simply walk into Mordor,
unless they want to be the best they can be.

Every few games I see my face highlighted before turn 1 starts and I assume that I am being squelched. Otherwise nothing is seen.

Emotes do nothing. You can simply choose to ignore them.
Or you can squelch. No one cares.
I just squelch everyone at game start and gg.
Top deck is cheat
I am Mal'Ganis! I am a TURTLE!!
